First of Some rules then a glossary for this passage and then the passage it self.
In a nut shell Magic spells are created by you. You are allowed to make a character with magic abilities. When you do so you must provide a plausible spell list and then we will determine weather or not the spells will be allowed. The total number of spells is based on the system below
The number of spells your character can know is dependent of several relevant factors.including the amount of magic you were born with, your aptitude for understanding it, your interest in it as well as your age since your powers first surfaced and the number of years you have spent in practice. generally this will put you on a scale of 0-6. Your scale number will be determined based off of those factors by an admin. 0 is any null human without magic abilities, 1 meaning you were born with very little magic energy and have little or no interest in learning magic. 5 means you were born with a great deal of magic energy and have the skills of an adept when learning magic. 6 is the maximum potential of a witch that can only be attained at death or through transcendence of death. whatever your number on that scale is is then multiplied by the number of years you spend practicing and working toward learning spells. For example then a level 3 witch on the scale who has been practicing magic for 5 years would have access to 15 spells. those with little magic potential but practice could lean 1 spell per year meaning that a level 1 after 5 years could learn 5 spells while a level 5 after 5 years could know 25 spells . this system allows for a great level of customization for your character to it.
Magic by nature has to be experimented with in order to develop actual spells it is almost a science in its regard and complexity. However there are almost limitless potential in the spells that can be created given enough time a dedication. each spell takes up one of your available spots. There are several schools of magic that can be experimented in. These include, illusions, Elemental Magics, Practical magic, mental magic, summoning, and necromancy
While small necromantic spells can be learned by those not of the bloodline only true necromancers can master this magic to its fullest potential. Necromancers were hunted to near extinction, meaning its impossible to be a bloodline necromancer. However due to the tendency of magic to appear randomly in humans necromancers still exist today though they are rare.
Mind effecting spells are allowed, when dealing with npcs they can work as well or not as well as you deem necessary. However, when dealing with other player characters There is a simple rule. You must have permission from the target player in order to even cast the magic on them in the first place. If they say no you cannot even attempt to cast the magic on them in post. If you are told no and do so anyway you will be brought to the admins for judgement.
Ultimately the admins have ultimate say in both your scale level, number of spells, and what spells will be allowed. Try to deviate from using the maximum as it would be manotanis to have every single withc on the board with the highest posible level of magic. having a few less spells then others can be just as fun and often more challenging then having a wide variety. so consider making weaker witches as well.

Below is a fictional work explaining the inner workings of magic for those seaking guidance or those just looking for information on magic. There are words within that are not used in their normal context and some words that need clarification. For this reason i am supplying a glossary for it.
Common terms in the work: Witch Magic Energy Spell
__________________________________________________________________ Magic as defined on this board is both the general term for any practice that creates supernatural effects through ritual evocation and the energy that fuels these rituals residing in the caster. In this guide we will discus how magic is found, used, and guided into its various forms.
While variables exist between different " Schools" of magic generaly all magic users are born with the energy of magic ( refered to as energy from this point on to avoid confusion) This energy then grows as the person grows. After so many years, usualy durring the teen years of development the energy grows to such a level that it can no longer be held within the body and begins to exit out into the world around them. At first this can mistaken for strange coincidences but can eventualy grow into obvious and full blown effects if left unchecked It is at this point that most people who have magic will desire to learn how to guide magic and thus control it. While some forms of energy are very flexible and can change the schools they are usedin frequently, others are very limited, though this is usualy bound to bloodlines such as necromancers or animators as well as witch bloodlines that specialize in specific types of magic. This means that while some can be born with a specific affinity for a specific type of magic. Others can be born with the ability to try multiple types of magic. Because of this Magic users who are not born of bloodlines can be unpredicable.
Energry grows exponentialy, it never stops growing even into the twilight years of a witches life. It is the rate of growth however that determines the amount of power a witch has, as well as how much they are born with to start. The first thing witches generaly learn is how to contain their own energy to keep it from leaking out and adversley effect the world around them. This often takes great deal of practice that usualy yeilds an effect that eventualy becomes as second nature. The method for holding energy in however needs to be able to addapt as the energy grows because after a point it may grow to be to much for that particular limitation.
When uses to fuel spells energy does have a limitation. and it is posible to use up all of ones magic over a small period, however the magic that is used up generaly is restored quickly through rest. While it takes time for energy to grow, restorying energy that is spent takes very little time. It works kinda like a drill digging a tunnel. It would be easy to fill it with water but it takes longer to make the tunnel bigger. Another analogy is that it its easy to fill a container back up after its been empty. but making the container hold more takes longer.
While energy works on the same principles in all people who have it. each individual is different and thus channeling energy is different as well. So while a witch can teach an apprentice how to preform a spell, the apprentice may have to do different things to reach those effects. For example. A Male witch teaches a young female apprentice to create fire in the palm of their hand. the teacher generaly guides this with a semantic movement of the hand and the invisioning of fire. But when the student tries this the moister in the air heats up and steam is created. The student must take the time to figure out how to create the effect of ignighting oxygen in the air instead of heating up moister, so a change in the semantic movement and a veriation in the thoughts may be enough to fix this problem. This makes it difficult to teach magic to those not of a bloodline that specializes in a specific school of magic.
