Isobel was absolutely astounded. They had risen against her. Her. Isobel. The Master of Phoenix. How could she have been so foolish to think she had caught every last vampire from the previous Master? Her search should have been so much more thorough. Who would have guessed she had been housing the former Master's Temoin? Of course he was still loyal to his previous Master. Iaobel did not fault him for his uprising; she faulted herself for not being absolutely sure he had been struck down a year earlier. No one undermined or threatened her authority, though, and he had been disposed of because of his actions. She certainly owed her Servant, Armand, an apology. His suspicions had been right all along.
Even the wolves had stood against her. Many things had played a part in them being allowed to live the year earlier when Jason, the Ulfric of the Phoenix clan, had taken his seat of power. He had a bleeding heart, that man did. He wanted to believe those wolves could be loyal to him because he was a good man. Isobel pitied him for his naivety. Of course, they may have been properly disposed of had Isobel not made her request of the Ulfric then. She had asked for wolves, and he gave her wolves. Unfortunately, the wolves he had given her were the unruly ones who still needed to be broken. That was fine, though. Isobel did so very much love a challenge.
After the way she destroyed the former Temoin, there would be no way any of the vampires would rise against her again. A few more would be struck down as examples should the need arise. The wolves would be dealt with, as well. Isobel knew she would have to make an example of a few of the bigger, more powerful ones. When she was finished, none would dare question her again and she would most likely have a new pet to show for all her efforts. It was about time she got another one, anyway. The last one had been too high-strung, even for her taste. Isobel liked her people to be strong willed, but they had to bend to hers. Those that could not would be discarded, as they were useless.
It had been decided Isobel would begin striking back immediately, not giving the enemy any more time to plot. Even though the attack had only been the night before, she would begin her part of the game that night. She had been so proud of herself for foiling his plans. She was on a roll now, and was not about to stop. The only question had been whom she would use to demonstrate her unquestionable power and authority. It had been suggested the wolf be one whom formerly held some rank among the pack, one the rest respected, looked up to. Rosa, the former Freki, would have been such a good test subject had she not been deceased. It was a shame, too; she had been such a good servant.
The next in line had been the former Geri. She was perfect, because Isobel knew how bitter she had been about losing her position within the pack. What was her name? Isobel had not learned it. At the time of introductions it had not been important. She would be more careful this time to not overlook those who had once been important. Instead she would start over with them, let them all know she was a force to be reckoned with and that the penalty for crossing her would be worse than they could possibly imagine. Death would be a privilege for them, one in which Isobel would only grant when she believed she had nothing more to give them.
Almost no one was present in the halls as Isobel made her way down to the third floor common room. The night had just begun, and those who were awake were out on the town, feeding, working, and just all around not at home. This was the best time to make her intentions known, when no one would be around to interrupt her. The room was deserted then, but hopefully it would not be for long. Isobel hoped the wolf had gotten her invitation and chosen to obey it, because she wanted things to begin as pleasantly as possible. Crossing her arms, she stood in the middle of the room, waiting.

Grumbling to herself Denise stalked down the halls of the vampires resting place. The nerve of some people, thinking they could order her around just because they had “ Permission” from the master of the city. It wasn’t even like the pup had permission. He was just sent to deliver a message, one that she did not truly care for nor really even want to receive. And yet he had the gal to tell her that she “HAD” to go right then and there. She hoped he was counting his blessing, after all had Davis not been their to save him the poor messenger would have been struck quite a few times for his arrogance. No one told her what to do, no one, and the next time she caught that pup alone boy was he going to be in for it. He couldn’t hide around Davis forever, And he would have to leave the vampires nest at some point. Denise could already taste his cries for help. She would make sure though that when the time came, There would be no one around to hear him.
The only reason Davis hadn’t gotten some a heaping helping of beat down himself for stopping her was because he answered to the ulfric, and having just had to remove the last person to cross the ulfric the night before Denise didn’t want to test her luck just yet. The man was a softy, and a fool as far as Denise was concerned. But he had proven last night, as he had the last time Denise had tried challenging him. That he was too strong to fight. Rosa had paid the ultimate price for being too direct. For siding with that Idiot Connor and trying to stage an uprising. Now she was dead and Denise could only laugh. Served the fool right for trying to take on someone who had beaten her in the past. Denise didn’t like Jason, hated everything about him in fact. But the fact was that she could not win a fight against him. For all his pansy act made her think less of him she still knew he was too strong for her. She could wait for her revenge though. There would be a time when he would be weak. And when that time came she would be there to finish him.
She only headed toward the room she was asked to go to now because Isobel could tell Jason she was being disobedient. She could have cared less that she was twenty minutes later than the message had specified. She wasn’t someone’s dog. She didn’t come and sit and beg at anyone’s command. She was a wolf and would do as she damn well pleased. Isobel had shown that she could dominate the wills of the weaker pack members but as far as Denise was concerned she was just another vampire. Even if Isobel was the master of the city she could wait a few minutes for Denise to show. The vampire was lucky Denise was coming at all. She could still remember all the times Elijah had planned on storming this place. Hundreds of wolves all at once tearing all in their wake to shreds. She had never gotten to see the inside of this place during Elijah’s war, it was a damn shame too that she would see it in this way.
Entering the third floor common room Denise spotted the vampire queen. She was honestly surprised by the fact that the Master of the city was completely alone in her nest. Denise hadn’t passed a corpse on the way down here and there was no one to be seen aside from the master herself. There was a time that this would have been the perfect opportunity to strike at the heart of the enemy. Oh how proud would Elijah have been if she had returned with the previous master of the city’s head in a box? But now being alone with the master of the city was a little unnerving. Her beast stirred within her as she stepped closer. She could feel it, faintly, the draw of Isobel’s power. It radiated from her like a fog. But Denise was no pup. She could stand to be in the vampire’s presence if this was all she had to worry about. Stopping a few feet from the master of the city Denise tried her very best not to scowl.
“ You, Needed to see me ?” She asked not sure what reason the vampire queen would have wanted to see her directly. Denise had managed to avoid having to actually entertain the thought of being near a vampire since she and the others were sent here. She helped with the dirty work, the heavy lifting, but so far she had managed to avoid having to spend any time alone with a vampire. She couldn’t think of a reason any of them would need to summon her like that, but the master of the city wanting to meet her in person alone in the vampires resting place was even more confusing. She awaited her answer as patiently as she could manage. The sooner she got this over with the sooner she could start planning her attack on the messenger from before. She would show him whom he should fear and follow, after she dealt with the master of the city.
