Pulling off the freeway Jason looked back into the back of the car with his rear view mirror to see if his passengers were alright. Calvin Slept laying against Kyne who merely smiled back to him being quiet so he didn't wake the sleeping boy. Poor kid still wasn't used to being up at night with them, and while it was hard on him They needed to get him down here for the full moon. Jason felt bad but they had to do this. And besides there was not a pair of people Jason trusted more for this than Strum and Jess. Jason would have been happy to watch over Calvin himself, but between his job taking him out of the house and the hotline keeping him busy He really couldn't keep an eye on the boy at all times. At least in their care Even if strum got called on an emergency Jess could take care of Calvin. Jason didn't want to pawn him on Trin or Marcus either so it made more sense to do it this way.
The other issue lied with Kyne. He actively refused to go to Jason's home because of Trinity. It upset him slightly That Kyne still wouldn't come to see him if Trinity was home. He had hoped they could be civil about things but Kyne just refused to let it happen, Jason couldn't really blame him for it, but it made things slightly difficult for him to see his friend and it became a roadblock in taking care of Calvin. Luckily Strum agreed that for his sake Calvin needed that support. Jason had to convince Strum to allow it and that was a challenge because Jason knew that he detested the idea of having a vampire his home. Jason didn't want to make it hard for the man who was going to help him. Asking him to handle Calvin and Kyne was asking alot.
Pulling Into Strums Driveway Jason sighed as he turned off the engine and his headlights. Time to get this party started he thought to himself as he looked back to Kyne who nodded as he began trying to wake Calvin up. Opening his door and climbing out Jason closed the door softly before walking to strums front door. There were multiple scents near the door, reminding Jason that there were others living in strums house as well. His younger brother and the new young wolf Lana. Boy strum was not going to have a peaceful night tonight. Sometimes Jason wondered how his friend had acquired so many people in his home. Considering how quite he preferred things to be. Either way things were about to get interesting. Knocking on the door Jason smiled. Calvin would get the help he needed that was what mattered.

Two weeks and the boy had all ready grown on him. Kyne couldn’t help it that he found Calvin to be completely and absolutely adorable. And pathetic. It had been out of pity that he picked the boy up, and it had been out of pity that he phoned Jason. Even now it was out of pity for Cal that he had agreed to take the little wolf to Phoenix. Not that anyone had protested the idea. Well, Sowen had in the beginning. He hated the idea of Calvin being so far away, and even more the idea of Jason being responsible for the boy’s safety. Kyne and Sowen were not wolves, though. They didn’t know how to help him the way Jason could. The way Strum could.
As they waited at the airport for Jason, Kyne could all ready see the sleep starting to weigh on Calvin. If Lobo had taken any longer, there was a chance that the boy would have collapsed there in the airport. Thankfully, it had not taken Jason long at all since they had only arrived a few minutes ahead of estimation. For once in possibly his whole life, Kyne was on his best behavior. He wasn’t in the mood for joking or playing around, because it was more important to stay calm for Calvin. That was why he did not attack Jason with taunts and touches, instead electing to simply quietly follow his friend out to the parking lot.
Kyne led Calvin by his hand to the car, helping him into the backseat by holding the door open. Before he could walk away from the open door Kyne felt a tug on his hand. The needy, pathetic look Cal gave him earned him an eye roll. But he obliged, climbing into the back of the car as the pup had wanted. Seating himself beside Calvin, he wrapped his arm around the boy as he scooted closer and laid his head on Kyne’s shoulder. It had not taken long for him to drift off, as Kyne had expected him to.
Poor Calvin was probably exhausted. On top of not being used to the nocturnal lifestyle, his body was tearing itself apart. That would take its toll on anyone, let alone someone as young as Cal. He would get used to it, but right now he was not dealing well with it all. It helped more than anything that Sowen could keep him occupied during the daylight hours. Now Strum could do that. And his mate, Jessica. Kyne was looking forward to meeting the girl. Even though he was in Phoenix when she came around, he had yet to be allowed to meet her. Mostly because her mate was not a fan of vampires.
Prejudice was not foreign to Kyne. It was something he did his best to ignore, but he was more than aware of it. Despite his awareness, it had admittedly come as a small surprise when Jason informed him that his friend had an issue with wolves. Given the track history of vampires in Phoenix, though, Kyne couldn’t really blame the guy. And luckily enough, he couldn’t call wolves. He was sure that would help his argument. Jason had handled explaining to Strum that his presence was necessary for the sake of Cal’s comfort. The poor kid had refused to go before Kyne had offered to accompany him. He was still adjusting to his new life; everyone could afford to make a few sacrifices to help him along.
Gently nudging Calvin awake when the car came to a stop, he took the boy’s hand in his own and made to help him out of the car. Calvin clung to Kyne, receiving a warm smile in return. “You ready?” he asked the young wolf as they waited beside Jason. If everything went well, then Kyne would be able to leave him the following night. He would be worried out of his mind, though, until he knew for sure that Calvin was well taken care of.

The car ride was extremely uneventful for Calvin, seeing as how he spent the entire time sleeping. He had wanted to sleep on the plane ride, and in the airport. The night was going to be a long one, what with all the introductions and adjusting to the new home. With any luck he could spend the majority of the following day sleeping in. Kyne would sleep until late morning, so he could at least have that long. He had no idea what to expect of Strum or any of the people who lived with him. Would any of them allow him to sleep? He hoped. He just could not spend the next month in a state of zombie brain function from lack of sleep.
He could not remember a time in his life when he had been more tired. It wasn’t just the physical adjustments that were wearing him down. Not even the new sleep schedule was taking as big of a toll on his as he had thought it would. No, it was the stress of all the new people in his life that was truly getting to him. While Calvin loved people, he was beyond skittish at the moment. Especially considering that all the new people in his life were so powerful. Wolves. Vampires. By all rights he should have been terrified. And he was. Mostly. He had taken to Kyne and Sowen almost immediately. They were what he clung to. He trusted them completely despite hardly knowing either of them. Good thing they both had good intentions, really.
Feeling as if he had only just fallen asleep, Calvin woke with a jolt to Kyne nudging him. He grumbled, but allowed himself to be pulled from the car. With a playful smile Calvin shook his head in response to Kyne’s question. No, no he was not ready. He didn’t have a choice, though, did he? He really wanted nothing more than to turn around and go back to Reno. He wanted to go home. To go home and sleep and pretend everything was just a bad dream. That was not happening, though. No matter how hard he wished it.

Jessica just stood in the kitchen staring at the counter, chewing her lip as if nervous that she had missed something. Well, she was nervous, mainly because they were about to have a new wolf staying with them, someone very skittish. While their home had not turned into a circus just yet, she was well aware that all hell could break loose at any moment depending on which of little demons was in the house and why. Lana and Cy were adorable to watch, at first she had worried the two would drive each other away, however they’re ‘fighting’ seemed more playful than true dislike for each other. However there was rarely any warning, one moment it would be as it was now, peaceful, quiet, the next there would be bangs and yells and Strum threatening to eat someone.
She would never understand why Strum seemed to be the one for strays, or why he let her live after allowing the first two in. Jason had also seemed to appreciate it, if Jason needed their help, both of them were always happy to comply. Strum would probably love this one more than the other two, if he was skittish, he was probably very quiet and non-destructive. The counter-top was covered in food. There was not an inch of space left for her to cook anything else; pies, cookies, sandwiches, fruit, drinks, she’d spent the whole morning cooking like crazy. Jess had no idea how to comfort someone staying in a strange place, but she knew the power food could have over a werewolf. Fill the boys belly with yummy food and he’ll feel a bit more at home...hopefully.
Hearing Jason's truck pull in, she tossed the apron back on it’s hook on the wall before making her way to the door. “Strum, they’re here.” She called happily, knowing it would take him a few moments to finish his thoughts and leave the study, so she made her way over to answer the door. Without hesitation, the first thing she did was step out to greet Jason with a hug. Hugging was her thing, if she knew you and Strum didn’t want to eat you for touching her, you got hugs hello and goodbye. Stepping back she smiled as she looked over the other two, her eyes falling on the other wolf.
He looked exhausted, so she gave him the softest smile she could manage. “You must be Calvin, you look exhausted sweetheart, would you like to come in and get something to-” Before she could finish her question, the back door handle turned, and instead of just opening, it flew inward as Cyprus tackled Lana to the ground the the two began rolling around on the floor now fighting over a piece of paper. Tuning them out as always while Strum came out to deal with them, she made her way to the kitchen, returning to hold of a plate of cookies before Jason and the other two while she waited for the house behind her to quiet down. Though a medal should be given to her, because if there were two people screaming at each other while your husband threatens to eat them both, you’d usually be involved or acknowledge it. Jess had a look on her face as if there was nothing at all going on behind her, even if it had just ruined whatever hope of the boy wanting to come in the house anytime soon.

Cy was just too easy, even with how much she’d terrorized him lately, he never seemed ready for it. She’d been making her way to Strums when she noticed him ahead of her. Pick pocketing was like breathing to her, and he was so easy to trick she didn’t even have the heart to do it for real. Lana quieted her steps, and once she was close enough her hand slipped his wallet from his pocket and then ran a few steps ahead of him to taunt him with it.
“You’re too easy, don’t you ever learn?” She called out, waving the wallet in front of her before acting as if she were about to go through it. Then he came after her so she turned and ran away to the house. Once they hit the lawn she was certain she’d get upstairs to the guest room or behind Jess before he caught up. What she hadn’t been expecting was the back door being locked. Cursing she pulled her keys out and fumbled with them, wondering who the hell would have locked it when she knew Jess and Strum were home. He knew they had been given keys right?
Once the door was unlocked, she turned the knob to go in, but was just too slow. Well that and she hadn’t really been expecting Cyrpus to literally tackle her through the door. Screaming at the shock, her backpack stumbled from her hands, and a folded up piece of paper tumbled from her pocket. Struggling with the weight of him, all while yelling “GO AWAY I DON’T HAVE IT.” at him to try and keep his attention off her own things and back on the wallet that she’d dropped and had slid across the floor.
Her eyes found it, but at the same time she realized people were in the house, people she didn’t know. Lana locked eyes with the new wolf standing by Jason, they seemed confused enough, but when they found Kyne, she felt something she didn’t recognizee. He wasn’t human, he wasn’t a shifter, he felt....odd. Eyes narrowing, even though Jess and Jason seemed fine with him, a small growl escaped her but was cut short as Cy finally noticed the paper.
Frantically, her attention diverted back to Cyprus, she grabbed at it to pull it away from him and back in her possession. “It’s nothing! Give it back!” She tried to grab it back from him, trying not to be too rough with him but she did not need him taking that paper. It would simply ruin the collection she had going and he would notice if that sketch went missing again.

He smelled like grease. Cy was one hundred and fifty percent positive that he could smell the fry grease on himself. It was almost enough to make him consider veganism. Not really, but it was super unpleasant. It truly baffled him how standing in front of a register for six hours he managed to soak up all the smells of the kitchen. At least he could take off the stupid hat now. And as soon as he got home, if there was time before the new guest and Jason arrived, he could hop in the shower and get the stink out of his skin.
But it paid. Not well, admittedly, but what could a highschool graduate with no former education expect to find? Cyprus was only nineteen. He had forever still to figure out what he really wanted to do. And now that he wasn’t paying his dad for rent, he could save up a bit of money before he had to decide anything solid. Plus staying with Strum was just a mega bonus. And Jess. He thought it was just fantastic that she was always making treats for him and Lana. Honestly, he was going to get fat if she kept it up.
Walking his way home, he didn’t notice the troublemaker behind him until it was too late. He felt the hand remove something from his pocket and laid his eyes on the wallet seconds later. “Hey!” he exclaimed, running after her. “Give that back!” What was wrong with her? Stealing things that didn’t belong to her? Cy shouldn’t have had to guard his pants in order to keep his things on his person. Pants should have been off limits. Crazy girl. And it wasn’t fair that she ran, either. Stupid wolf was faster than him and she knew it. Cheater that she was.
Ha! She was stuck at the door as she tried to get it unlocked. Picking up speed, he dived at her. Coincidentally, just as the door flew open. His breath caught in his throat as he hit the ground. At least she broke his fall. Knowing she could fight him if she really, truly wanted to, he pinned her arms down. “WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT?!” he shouted at her, unaware that it had fallen from her hands the moment he tackled her. His eyes followed her, getting off of her when he saw she was distracted by the guests. That gave him just enough time to pocket his wallet before she regained herself.
Cyprus laughed at her when she growled. He got a kick out of how dog-like she could be considering how very human she looked. “Chill, pooch,” he taunted. Noticing something on the ground near her backpack, he lifted the paper and unfolded it. “What is this?” he wondered aloud. It was his. One of his drawings. He had noticed a few going missing, but none of it had been attributed to her. Dirty little thief. Laughing at her, he simply held the paper above his head, just barely out of her reach. “I didn’t know you were a fan,” he grinned at her, knowing she could take it back by force if she so chose. At least she didn’t cheat all the time.

The enticing smells from the kitchen told Strum that Jess had been working on a feast. If he didn’t know any better, he would have assumed she was actually excited for their guest. Strum wished he could share the same sentiments. He was not overly fond of how much she enjoyed cooking and baking for just Cyprus. Adding another mouth to feed (a new wolf, especially) was going to drain his kitchen of its stock quicker than he could replenish it. That, and Strum was worried about the boy. Jason had informed him that the kid was skittish. How skittish? Cy was typically calm and quiet when Lana was not around, but when she was he knew they were going to be trouble.
Strum didn’t bother to answer when Jessica called to him. He had heard the truck as well, and the knock on the door. Finishing up the last thought he was working on, he saved his work and locked the desktop. Thankfully, no matter how destructive they could be, both Lana and Cyprus knew that his study was off limits. Lucky for them, too, because he could not guarantee whoever messed with his writing would live through it. His notes were scattered all over the place. Horrible sketches, half written sentences, pens and pencils lying everywhere. It looked like a mess, but he would have known if even a pencil shaving was out of order.
Of course, since neither of them were destroying his study, they had to be messing up something. He heard the bang before he entered the room. His gaze instantly shot to the back door, a hot glare forming are he saw the two of them wrestling on the kitchen floor. “What,” he demanded, “are you doing?!” It appeared that once again Lana had stolen something from Cyprus. What it was, Strum had no idea. Personally, he did not care. The only thing he cared about was that they were acting ridiculous in front of the new guests. Or in general, really.
Snatching the paper from his brother, he held it out for Lana. “We have guests!” he shouted at them, pulling Cyprus by the neck into the front room to greet them. Heaving a heavy sigh, Strum shook his head at Jason. “Sorry,” he apologized, glaring once more down at his brother. Looking to the young wolf, Strum offered his hand and a greeting. “Calvin, right?” he said, “I’m Strum.” He looked to the man standing beside the wolf and he knew instantly what the man was. His eyes narrowed, not at all hiding his displeasure for the vampire’s presence. Hesitantly, he moved out of the doorway, keeping his eyes on the man the entire time. “Come in,” he said, not at all wanting to. But for Calvin and for Jason he could be less than hostile. Hopefully.

Jason smiled As heard Jess on the other side call out to Strum , He figured this late in the evening his friend would be working on his writing before bed So as he expected Jess answered the door and came to hug him. Returning her hug he smiled “ Hello Jess” He said to her as she moved her attention to Calvin. Smiling to her he glanced up just in time to watch the back door fly open and Cyprus and Lana falling through it. Jess seemed to ignore what was going on behind them and went off into the kitchen while Strum yelled at the two young ones who bickered at the back door. Jason took that moment to look back. Finding Calvin clinging to Kyne He sighed lightly. “It will be Ok Calvin I promise they aren’t that bad all the time. “ He said to the young man hoping that he could help calm him down. As Jess returned with the cookies Jason couldn’t help but snag one as she offered. Sticking the cookie in his mouth but just let it hang there for a moment.
He watched as strum approached them shaking his head, Jason merely shrugged in response as the man approached and greeted Calvin. Poor boy looked terrified though. Watching his gaze shift from Calvin to Kyne, Jason knew this was going to be the make or break point. Strum could only deal with so much before he snapped Jason knew that very well. And this was really asking a lot of him. Letting Kyne and Calvin enter before him he approached Strum and after removing the cookie from his mouth he hugged the man. Letting him go he took a step back but placed his hand on his shoulder. “ I really appreciate you doing this Strum. You know that if I could I wouldn’t ask you too. Thank you. “ He said wanting it to be clear that He appreciated what strum was taking on for him. Jason wasn’t at home enough for the two of them. Letting go of the man he followed Kyne and Calvin into the living room before branching off toward the kitchen. He waved to Cyprus and to Lana as well as he did so.
Smelling the food he could tell jess had been very busy cooking all of the feast she had prepared . Jason himself was pretty hungry but he knew he needed to wait. Besides he had his cookie which would suffice for now. Stepping over to Calvin he smiled placing a hand on the boys shoulder, with the boys arms wrapped firmly around Kyne, Jason felt that a hand on the shoulder would suffice for comfort. Jason didn’t want to crush the boy after all. Looking to the boy he waited to see what he was going to do. Because he was only really here to smooth things over.

Before the young wolf had any more time to unnerve himself with whatever scary scenario he could have possibly concocted in his head, the door swung open and the trio was greeted by a young woman. Kyne assumed it was a safe bet to jump to the conclusion that this woman was the owner’s mate. Given what he had been told about the man they were there to see and not only his temper but his feelings towards vampires in general, he thought there was a good chance this one was off limits. Not that this notion would keep him from trying, or at least making a half-hearted attempt. Flirting was harmless, right? Well, unless it came from Kyne.
“Aww,” he pouted when she stepped out to hug Jason, “None for me?” While he knew he was there for business, and for the sake of the young wolf, he could not contain himself. Self-restraint was not exactly Kyne’s strong point, and anyone who knew him at all could vouche for that. Either way, it was all harmless fun. Until his mouth got him in trouble, which it often did. Not that that fact would keep him from sharing his little “jokes” with everyone in earshot. Kyne was hilarious, and anyone around had a right to know. They were entitled to it, really. It would have been selfish of him to keep it all to himself.
Kyne could barely contain his laughter when he spied what had stopped the woman mid-sentence. Loud banging and lots of yelling were typically something that caught you attention. Not this woman, though. Nope. She decided she was just going to pretend as if none of it was happening. Which was probably best considering Calvin’s current state. But still, there were scrapping kids in the backgrounds. And then came whom Kyne could only assume was the man they were there to see to break up the wrestling match. He did not seem happy at all. Not that Kyne could blame him, but it was definitely not a good first impression for jumpy little Cal.
Patting the boy’s hand, Kyne smiled at him reassuringly, not sure how much of it he would believe himself. “You’re fine, bud,” he told Calvin, “I’m sure he’s not as scary as he seems.” He couldn’t help but laugh when Strum drug the young man over to the door to greet their new guests. Hopefully he would not be manhandling little Cal that way, because then there would be some definite trouble, but he was sure Cal would not give him any reason to. What worried Kyne the most was that the other members of the household would cause problems for his puppy. Had Jason been aware of just how many people were living with Strum? Because there were a lot.
Calvin ignored the man’s introduction, staying completely silent since they had arrived. With a sigh, Kyne rolled his eyes and gave Calvin a tiny shove towards Strum. “Don’t be rude, perrito,” he told the boy. The death glare made it all too clear that the man was not at all happy about Kyne being there. He would have to deal with it, though. Calvin wanted Kyne there. He was there for the boy, and both of them would have to put aside their differences for the pup. Of course, Kyne had no trouble with this man. Actually, he had a very difficult time leaving alone people who could not stand him. He would be a bit nicer since staying around was the young wolf’s wish, but he would not be able to control all of his funny.
For a moment he worried he might have to stand outside, but Strum gave him the invitation he needed. Just as he did, shutting the door behind himself, he heard Jason apologize to Strum for asking so much of him. While Kyne understand the necessity of it, he chose to take the statement offensively for the sake of himself. “Hey!” he interjected with mock offense. Nodding in Strum’s direction, he winked and said, “He’ll learn to love me.” And that was something he truly believed at that point. Those introduced to Kyne either grew to love him completely or hate him absolutely. He would hope for the former.
Turning to the woman, he smiled at her and laughed. “All these snacks and yet nothing for me.” As if he thought they would offer him anything, knowing the owner of the home hated vampires. All of them in general. Hey, at least he wasn’t singling anyone in particular out. Then Kyne took his shirt off, because why the fuck not? “Hello, beautiful,” said to the girl, knowing Lobo had called her Jess, but not sure what he was permitted to call her. Not that he ever asked. “I’m Kyne,” he introduced himself, “but you can call me whatever you want.” One more wink, as he eyed Jason for a moment, practically daring the wolf to tell him off.

Instead of returning any of the friendly greeting he had been given, Cal simply watched the woman. She seemed welcoming enough. It was nothing offensive meant towards her. He was sure she was nice, her friendly greeting seemed to only cement that, but he was having such a hard time accepting any of it. From the moment the door opened he could smell almost everything inside. Mostly wolves. Lots of them. Well, he assumed lots. He had only ever smelled the one, so any more than that was a lot for him. Intimidating did not even begin to describe it.
The bang of the back door caused Cal to practically jump out of his skin. It was very possible that had there been a hole large enough for his skeleton to have lept out of, it would have. The woman at the door ignored it, appearing not to notice any of the fighting at all. Then almost from nowhere came a terrifying looking man, swooping in to holler at the two who had dared to make him look back in front of company.
Calvin’s eyes grew large when the man turned and drew closer. Common sense told him this was the man he would be staying with, the man who owned the home, but hope and fantasy pleaded with reason in case it had been mistaken. His fragile hopes were dashed to pieces when the man came to stand in front of him and introduced himself as Strum. He stood as tall as Kyne, and that did nothing for Calvin’s nerves. Was he really expected to stay with this man indefinitely? Looking up at the man, he found his lip firmly planted under his top row of teeth. How did he manage to go from so menacing to so friendly in such a short span of time?
Tightened his grip on Kyne’s hand, Calvin moved as close as he could to the man. His eyes traveled once between the outstretched hand to the face of the man who offered it and back again before receiving a light shove. Against his will, Cal felt his hand released. Forced to stand before this monster alone he did his best to breathe, hoping it would calm his nerves. Before it seemed too long, he took the man’s hand and offered the most fragile of smiles. With that over with he followed Jason into the home, but not before he saw the glare sent Kyne’s way. The pure animosity behind it sent a shiver down his spine. He stepped close to Kyne again, now absolutely positive he wanted to be anywhere but there.

Normally Jess was a friendly greeter and would’ve happily complied to giving their guest a welcome hug as she had with Jason. However this guest, well he wasn’t exactly Strums favorite person. Considering she had tried to rip Dawn to pieces when she had decided to get too friendly was Strum, she was not about to have him walk out and see her with a vampires arms wrapped around her. He was uneasy about the man and she was not about to give him more reasons to be concerned about the little romancer being in their home. Thankfully the noise behind her gave her very good reason not to explain herself, he was a smart boy though (hopefully) she was sure he’d figure it out.
While her eyes never left their guests, Jess was not new to the actions behind her. The only new thing really was that Strum was already breaking them up, usually they had to be loud for a few minutes before the big bad wolf tried to eat them and it was her job to remind him how sick that would make him. Thankfully, as he so kindly shouted, they had guests, and he was not about to make such a mess of the pup and the boy in front of their new guests. Though her heart broke every time the boy clung to the vampire as if being more than a few inches from the man might mean the boy was surely to die. Just how bad had his previous living situations been?
Oh good, the children had been separated, though she noticed Strum had opted to leave Lana behind as he pulled his younger brother up to the door to say hello. Glancing over her shoulder at the other wolf, she frowned seeing that Lana not only looked a little unhappy, but she was not giving the vampire the friendliest of looks. Had she never been around a vampire before? The idea didn’t really shock her considering the wolf had spent most of her life avoiding people in general, she’d probably never known vampires were even around.
Though Kyne was good friends with their Natalya, if he was not so trust by both Jason and their Bolverk, Strum would not have given him an invitation into their home. Her only current worry was that Lana would become a little too on edge, so maybe it was best she wait in the kitchen. Once the girls eyes locked on Jess, she gave her a very short shake of her head to inform her she was not to say or do anything stupid. Her wolf was just going to have to be uneasy and remember that Strum, who terrified her to no end, was standing between her and the vampire.
Returning her attention to the group, she noticed that, once again, Calvin had returned himself as close to Kynes side as he could manage. What was the poor boy going to do when they left later? Jumping at yelling was one thing, but surely even he had noticed the two had merely been playing. For his sake and Jess’s she hoped grew use to it soon, this house was only quiet for so long and she did not need a new werewolf in the house having a heart attack every time Lana and Cyprus decided to tease each other.
As Kyne introduced himself, and openly began flirting with her, she wasn’t sure who wanted to hit him more, herself, Jason, or Strum. Part of her wondered what would happen if they all attempted to hit him at once. So she simply rolled her eyes and shook her head, “I think Kyne will be just fine considering anything I could come up with would probably not be very nice.” Nate had a nickname for it, she’d told her once that in English it meant leech, and she was not about to give away that secret. She was also not about to play into his pouting about not having a snack, he really had such an odd sense of humor.
Jess turned her attention to the reason they were here to begin with, “Calvin you must be hungry, or at least thirsty. I know the two little ones are loud but you don’t need to worry, they’re all bark and no bite…” As she thought about it she turned to Lana, “No biting.” Looking back at Calvin she smiled, “If you try to get any closer to him you will very well be standing on his toes.” It was meant to be a slight tease, but of course Lana had to be blunt about it.

Never before had Lana been happy about Strum breaking up their fights. However him dragging Cyprus away meant that she herself was not really expected to walk out and say hello. Technically she didn’t live there so she wasn’t really family that the boy would have to worry about. Lana wasn’t sure if she was suppose to feel hurt by that or not, did Strum not like her? Who the hell was she kidding, Strum would eat her if Jess ever stopped defending her. Jason hadn’t even said anything when he saw her, maybe she really was just easier to ignore. Yet there he was, coddling a teenager like he was a child who needed both parents to constantly reassure him that big bad strangers weren’t going to eat him.
Rolling her eyes as Jess shook her head like she might do something stupid, she stuffed the drawing safely in her bag and pulled herself up off the floor as the group made it’s way into the living room to introduce the new werewolf to everyone. How did they honestly expect such a mama's boy to stay with Strum and Jessica? He was just going to have an anxiety attack if the vampire went to leave by the looks of it, hell the boy couldn’t even be more than two feet from him without looking like he was going to be eaten alive. Sure, Strum was scary, but the boy had been around Jason and he was suppose to be a lot more intimidating considering her was the one in charge.
She wasn’t sure what had soured her mood so easily, but even Jess’s jokes not to bite the newcomer didn’t even earn a smirk. Now all the vampire wanted to do was flirt with Jess, was he an idiot? No, that was right, he was the one who practically slept with every woman with a pretty face regardless of whether or not they were spoken for. What did Nate see in him exactly? One of these days she’d have to remember to ask.
“Might step on his toes? Jess, please, the poor kid probably cries when the vampire tries to leave him anywhere.” It wasn’t very nice, then again the boy hadn’t even been nice enough to say hello to Strum and had only shook his hand because he’d been pushed (literally) to do so. Since when did a werewolf need such babying? Seeing the very unhappy look in Jess’s eyes when she looked back at Lana, the girl waved at hand at them to show not to waste their breath chastising her. “ Yeah, I know, be nice, but what’s the kid gonna do about it? I’m gonna go try and get the smell of deep fryer off my bag.” Lana slipped upstairs for the time being, mainly to avoid any chastising Strum might have in mind for her attitude.

While Lana seemed less than happy about the newcomer, Cyprus could only thing that it might be nice to have a house guest who would possibly enjoy peace and quiet as much as he. That would give a good chance the new kid wouldn’t even bother him. Hopefully. The way he clung to the man who accompanied him made Cy suspect the boy could be a bit clingy. Physical contact was not one of his strong suits, but thankfully taking care of Calvin would not his responsibility either.
The way Strum looked at the man who followed Jason and Calvin concerned Cyprus. He did not look threatening, but looks could always be deceiving. Jason did not seem to mind the man. Cyprus had never had any official meetings with Jason, though. Cy knew his brother trusted the man – that they were friends – but that was the limit of his knowledge. They had both been in the house at the same time, but there was never any formal introduction. Cyprus was too much of a recluse to be bothered to meet all of Strum’s wolf friends. Whatever it was, though, Cyprus had a feeling this stranger was not a friend of his brother’s.
He watched quietly as the man made himself known by coming onto Jess. It baffled him that the stranger could come into someone else’s home nearly uninvited (from what Cyprus could assume) and start putting the moves on the homeowner’s girlfriend. Or was it mate? Wolf words were too odd for Cy to be bothered with them. Either way, he could only assume the man had some sort of death wish. Or he was stupid. Cyprus had yet to meet someone ballsy enough to anger Strum on purpose.
None of it was his business, though. Cyprus was more concerned with the loudmouth brat, Lana. She had gone from insulting the guest to talking bad about Cyprus. Of course she had, friendly jerk that she was. Ignoring the angry glares directed from Strum, he made his way over to give the girl a piece of his mind. He wouldn’t really eat me he told himself, not entirely confident in the thought. “Deep fryer?!” he hollered at the girl as she walked away, “It’s your fault, stupid!” Maybe if she had kept her hands to herself she would only smell like nasty mutt.
Come to think of it, he smelled like a deep fryer. Frowning, Cyprus decided it would be best to excuse himself for a shower and a change of clothing. Once Lana was gone. He was not about to chance stripping naked in the home with her wandering around, probably touching his things. “What are you doing up there?” he called, following her up the stairs, “You better stay out of my room and keep your paws off my stuff.” Hehe, paws. Cyprus was funny.
