Watching the last carpool van leave for the day Jason furrowed his brow as he scanned the lupanar once more. Everyone was accounted for accept for the one person Jason worried about the most. Jess was gone. There was no way he had missed her leaving because she came with him last night. And while she may have passed out from her shifting back to human form with the sunrise he was positive she should have been nearby. But she had been gone all night. He wondered if she had run off on her own after he left her to calm down by herself. He should have stayed close or at least watched her from a distance but he had to make sure everyone else was ok for the night before they all shifted. himself included. He hadn't even seen her during the hunt, which worried him greatly.
The only other person she could be with here was Strum and Jason knew that wasn’t the case. This was really bad, he knew she had a tendency to run when she was upset and in her wolf form she could cover a lot of ground very quickly. There was no telling where she was and they lived in a desert. IT was not the safest of places to be stuck in. Reaching back into his truck to grab a shirt he spotted his phone out of the corner of his eye. It’s green light flashing as if he had messages on it. Normally on the night of the full moon he wouldn't receive many calls seeing as almost everyone who would call him would be shifting with the full moon as well, so he was unsure of whom it could have been from. He hoped though it was one of the dominants telling him they had taken Jess home for the day. While he highly doubted that she had made any new friends in between the fight last night and isolating herself as she had. He could have hoped.
As he listened to his voice mail however he was greeted by a shocking sound. The sounds of Jess screaming as she shifted, followed by a voice Jason recognized quickly as Connor. Jason felt his blood run cold as voice explained how this show was going to run. Clenching his fist as the address was left behind Jason committed it to memory. As the message clicked off Jason slammed the door of his truck shut." Son of a bitch!" he shouted as he did so. He couldn't believe it. Of all the times for this to happen it had to be now. Part of Jason had always worried something like this would happen. It had been the one thing he had been warned before that he had to be careful letting so many of the dominants that supported Elijah live. His hope that they would understand his reasons and respect his desire for peace did not appear to matter to Connor though.
Hearing movement behind him Jason turned quickly to find Strum. Looking toward his friend Jason tried his best to contain the anger he felt right then. Jason wasn’t sure if he overheard the message or not but he wasn’t about keep him out of the loop. “ Get in “ he declared, opening the door to his truck and climbing in. “ Its Jess, Conner has her. He must have taken her after I spoke with her. “ He explained before starting the engine. He knew he was supposed to go alone but Jason knew one thing for certain. This was a grudge match waiting to happen. Connor hadn’t asked for a trade or made any sort of demands. He just wanted Jason to come alone which meant that this was personal. He needed a backup plan, not for his own sake but for Jess’s. If he was their target Connor’s target there was a chance he wouldn’t let Jess go afterwards. Someone needed to be ready And Strum was the best person for it.
He could not believe this was happening, and out of all of them Connor was the one. He had been a supporter of Elijah's in the past. But out of anyone he was the quietest. Jason never would have expected him to be the one to do something like this, Maybe it was that simple fact that made it easy for him to pull it off. That wasn’t important now. How it happened was irrelevant at this point. What mattered was that Jess’s life was in danger and he had to do something. There was no point in keeping Connor waiting. The ulfric was ready to move as soon as Strum was.
