As if she were being bitten by fire ants Natalya's skin crawled as she bit down a grown and focused her attention on driving the rest of the way home. Anger was coursing through her now that Jason and Jessica were a good distance from her and she wasn't one hundred percent sure she could calm herself as easily as normal. Normally things didn't get into her head, literally. If it had been reliving some event she'd even been around for it would be easier to deal with, but reliving something she couldn't possibly remember, that feeling of magic seeping into her was not one she wanted to repeat. It was pack magic sure, but it wasn't the kind she had ever deal with.
Finally the vehicle was parked in front of her home, a small sweat breaking out over her skin despite the fact that she felt as if she couldn't get warm enough. Gripping the keys she killed the ignition and used every ounce of restraint she had not to slam the truck door, or the main one as she managed to shove the key in the lock and let herself in. Lana was out, Jessicas yes but she was fairly certain the teen had herself distracted with the human boy out somewhere in the town today. No one was here, her fingers could easily glide over over and grip the glass plates in the cupboards and toss them to the floor until they were in tiny pieces. Having no control over the previous situation was not something she enjoyed. Losing control of her own mind meant it could very easily take her out and put someone else in, as it had done with Jason.
Something had to feel comforting enough or the edge to ware off, she had all night to lock herself away as far as she could remember. Which wasn't much considering everything she tried to think back the visions of the brawl flashed before her and a headache would take over for a moment as she forced herself to think of anything other than that. She could always take it out on Jason later, what until he was well fed and back on his feat before mercilessly kicking his ass a few times until whatever message she wanted to send sunk in. Whether or not there was any actual message beyond her current hatred though was up for debate.
Kicking her shoes and socks off by the door, she made it two steps in the door before a headache hit her, hard, leaving her cringing as she let herself sink to the floor. Pressing her back to the closest wall she pulled her knees in close, letting her forehead rest against them as her fingers gripped her hair. Natalya forced herself to simply try to breathe until the world seemed to spin a little less.

Long, emotional talks which changed the dynamic of a relationship weren't exactly Laine's speciality. He had never had to have the "monogamy" talk, but Natalya was not a typical woman. They had agreed she needed some time to think it over and flesh out her own feelings on the matter. It hurt thinking he might not be enough for her, but forcing her wouldn't make either of them happy in the long run. The waiting was going to kill him, though. Thankfully the wait had not been indefinite. It just seemed to slow time down to an insanely unbearable speed.
Eventually - and even though it felt like it might never - the day finally came. They would talk it out and Natalya would tell Laine she'd made her decision. He would be all she'd need, and they could start their new life together. She'd all ready called the other people she was seeing and told them as much. Of course, friendship with them was still allowed - Laine wasn't a monster.
With the optimism tucked in his heart alongside the jittery nerves, Laine hopped in his car and began the drive to Natalya's house. Along the way he tried calling her - twice - with no luck. Maybe she was still getting ready. Or she was sleeping. She had just gotten in from work after all, hadn't she? He could wait until he arrived to speak to her, and she'd know if she checked her missed calls that he was on his way. Either way, it would be soon enough that he got to see his girl again. His girl. As if she didn't have any real choice in the matter. It would have been easier on his pride if she didn't.
Pulling into the driveway, he almost tripped over his own feet leaping from the car. He immediately took curious note of the open door, assuming it meant an invitation inside. "Natalya?" he called out as he stepped over the threshold. As soon as he did so, the heat of her overactive ailment hit him square in the wolf, attempting to lure it out to play and comfort. A temporary stumble brought him to his knees beside the distressed lady wolf. Reaching his body over hers, he wrapped his arms around her to coddle away the bad feelings. A delicate kiss placed on the top of her head led him to recline his backside on the heels of his feet.
"You okay?" he asked, prying her fingers out of her hair and wrapping his in. His empty hand cradled her cheek, his eyes searching for an answer. She was his, and there was nothing she could do to change the way he felt. The possession forced him to care and worry until the source of her troubles was banished.

Putting so much effort into trying to focus her own thoughts it wasn't until he was already beside her that she noticed Laine was there. At first she just felt a presence and a growl built up but was cut short the moment direct contact was made. Suddenly it was like being grounded, the terrible feeling the munin had left her with pulled back and she felt...safe. No one had the ability to make her feel better when she was angry or frustrated other than herself, rarely did anyone bother to try getting too close if she seemed off. Yet his scent, his wolf, his touch, flooded her senses and drowned out everything else.
Relaxing into his hold her hands merely gripped the front of his shirt to keep him close. He had asked her a question but she wasn't truly sure how to answer him. Why the hell was he even here? She hadn't expected anyone to...oh fuck. They were suppose to talk, about them, about her being monogomous. That talk had not been easy with Lily and Kyne, but neither of them seemed too upset that she was willing to give it a shot for once. Natalya had never wanted someone so badly that she didn't want to share. Let alone badly enough to change a large part of your life style. Yet thinking of being with only Laine didn't leave any uneasy feelings in her gut.
Yet here she was, curled up on the floor because once again Jason had gotten into a mess and shed had to, literally, drag him out of it and now Laine had to deal with the left over mess. Burying her face into the side of his neck she couldn't seem to get close enough. "Munin..." Was all she could manage to answer at the moment. She was going to be okay, he was right here and soon she would feel like herself again. She could think enough to speak which was progress, and that was good since he still needed to be told she didn't want anyone else.
"Bed?" Her voice was hesitant, mainly because being vulnerable and asking for help was not her. It didn't bother her to rely on him though, which was probably the reason she wasn't worried about being monogomous. "I just...I need to lay down." A little more strength to her voice this time, and as much as she didn't want to pull away she found herself attempting to stand up on her own to see if she could at least make it to the bedroom without another headache.

Munin. The one word put the puzzle together completely. While Laine had no idea exactly what had happened, he did know where Jason had taken up hiding. With all the spirits of all the past wolves all in one convenient location, if Natalya set foot anywhere near there while Jason was pouting (and he was most definitely still pouting) there was a very large chance she would not make it away without coming into contact with at least a handful of the angry ones. He would have to remind himself later to step on Jason for putting Natalya – his Natalya – through that.
He knew almost before she stood that she just wasn’t ready to be moving any distance on her own. The girl could hardly keep herself together on the floor. There was no way her legs would let her go that far. If her pride would let her, Laine would be her legs. “Don’t,” he said, swooping in and wrapping his arm around her waist. “Let me help.” With no more words to be spoken, he offered the balance she needed without taking away her agency, allowing her to walk into the bedroom with his guidance in case she collapsed. She would be okay as long as he was around, he was sure of it.
Pulling back the covers, Laine ushered Natalya into the bed before scooting in beside her. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, pulling her in close and embracing her scent and aura. For a moment his eyes closed, savoring the feel of having the most perfect woman lying at his side. Even if she was breaking now, no one had ever looked as beautiful. It amazed him sometimes just how dedicated he felt to this woman despite her uncertainty for him.
That was what he had come for, though, wasn’t it? Perhaps now wasn’t the time to discuss such things, and knowing that only made Laine all the more frustrated. He wanted to openly love her without fear of rejection. More importantly, he wanted to solely love her like no other man was allowed. Was that really so much to ask? There was no way to know how she felt – what she had decided – until he asked.
Not now, though. Now all he needed was to pull this woman in close and comfort himself in the knowledge that he was offering her something no one else was. Nuzzling into her hair, he breathed deep and allowed her to flood and overwhelm his senses. This was what he wanted the rest of his life to be: her. Unconsciously he found himself placing a delicate kiss on the top of her head, tender and chaste. It felt good to offer her his affection. So good, in fact, that he let his lips travel to her cheek, planting another kiss there. Further unsatisfied with the delicacy of it all, he leaned in before he could think and pressed his lips to hers, lingering just long enough for his thoughts to invade. Pulling away, his eyes opened and he frowned. What would she think?s

Laine was so quick to help her she had no time to really argue against it. That and touching him always felt like electricity running through her skin so she was not about to protest when he was putting himself so close to her. Not that people had never been sweet to Nate, she just wasn't use to being so quick to accept their help with something like this. Something she had been trained to deal with herself, yet her she found herself not needing to. He was being so worrisome and protective she didn't really know how to react. So she didn't, she leaned into his touches and holds and focused on that. By the time she made it to the bed her head had cleared enough that it was more than easy to curl up under the blankets on her own.
As he slipped in beside her and pulled her close she felt her eyes slip shut as she snuggled right in without needing to think about it. Never had her wolf wanted to be so stupidly lovingly submissive to another person. Yet here she was, feeling as if there would simply never be enough of this. Even the thought of having to share him with anyone else made her want to rip someone to pieces, no wonder it had been easy to agree that she shouldn't have any problems with monogamy if she wanted him as badly as she made it seem. Kisses brought comfort and soft smiles as her hand came up to rest against him, the smile only growing when a second one found her cheek. Cheating bastard, winning her over with nuzzles and kisses, if he stopped now she felt she might hit him. When he finally kissed her lips she wasted no time bringing her hand up to cradle his cheek as she returned it.
Then he pulled away and his own frown earned a pout from her. Kissing her had upset him? That had not exactly been the response she had hoped for. He was worried that she was not feeling well enough to deal with his affection, and she couldn't blame him as she realized she still hadn't told the poor wolf that she wasn't seeing anyone else. Sure it was fun, enjoying the touch of others and constantly knowing that like all things eventually they will end but it could be great along the way. Yet this, touching him whenever she wanted, was something she did not want to just dwindle out. Wanted it more than she cared about the packs history, about whether or not Jason was still miserable. If Natalya allowed the munin to ruin this night she was nothing but a weakling. Weak was not a character trait of hers, so it was easy to flash him a smile and nuzzle her face into his neck to nip at him playfully.
"You're the only one allowed to do that." Her voice was a whisper, but it was more mischievous than it was tired now. The last thing she wanted was for him to be nervous about showing her affection simply because he wasn't sure if he should. Nate felt bad that she hadn't simply told him seconds after it had come up but it was something she wanted to be sure of, the last thing she wanted to do was hurt him. Her hands slid up his abdomen and chest before wrapping around his shoulders as she placed a kiss on his cheek. How nice it would be, coming back from work exhausted only to have to be close to him to feel recharged.
