The writing skills some of you display are horrendous. They give me nightmares. I have something to tell you all. Do you know why we never get any new players? It is because they see your horribly written posts. Experienced role-players (this is a role-playing game, contrary to what some of you would like to believe) see these posts with horrible grammar, basic formatting, and crappy storytelling, and they have no desire to play Forum Wars. The way I see it, if this game is to survive, you all need to start writing like adults. So I'm going to start posting my writing tutorials. Each week, I will post a lesson, and I expect you all to read them. And I'll give you a bonus lesson right now: Punctuation. There are many types of punctuation marks. There are marks that signal the end of a sentence, such as the period (.), the question mark (?), and the exclamation mark (!). There are also symbols that separate different parts of a sentence, like the comma (,), the semi-colon (;), the colon (:), and the hyphen (-) Other marks include apostrophes ('), which are used mostly in word contractions and declaring ownership of something (more on that in a later lesson) and quotation marks (""), that are used to 'quote' someone or something or emphasize a word. (Oh, and by the way, those things around this sentence are called brackets. Other types of brackets include '[]', '{}', and '<>'.) Now, would you like to see a demonstration?
