*original post:*

Every six months I will induct one player into the Vertigo Hall of Fame.

Here is how this will work. I will post a list of four nominees. It will be up to YOU to decide which of the nominees gets inducted. You will have two weeks to PM me your vote. After the two weeks have passed, I will tally the results and post who the winner is.

This will be a popular vote. You do not need to have played in a Vertigo game to cast a vote. I'm sure that enough has been said about the games and the characters, that anyone involved should be able to cast an informed vote. Since I clearly know the most about the series, my vote will count. Obviously I will weed out all votes from any obvious ghostnics.

Use whatever voting criteria you see fit. This is pretty straightforward. Without further ado, lets get to the nominees....

JACK SHEPHERD, played by CUAUHTEMOC GILMORE
Posted Image

This nomination should come as no surprise to anyone.

Jack steamrolled his way through the very first edition of Vertigo (Lost Island), notching his place in history as the series' first winner. Jack is known for being a dominating force at the challenges, singlehandedly willing his team to victory after victory.

After the merge came, Jack continued his challenge supremacy. He was an unstoppable powerhouse who was only vulnerable to be voted out a handful of times. Even then, he survived the votes due to his strong alliances and social bonds.

It was Jack's goal to look like a complete noob who had no idea how to play the game. While some people complain about Jack's social game (he typed like a little kid and would send out odd cryptic messages about food), he clearly did something right as no one ever seized the opportunity to take him out.

Besides winning, Jack also created all the avatars for the game. And the banner! This in and of itself makes Jack a clear candidate for the Hall of Fame.

He may be clinically insane, but hey. It works for him.

KELLY GOLDSMITH, played by SURVIVAHOLIC

Before there was Vertigo All Stars, there was Vertigo 3.

Kelly took that game by storm, becoming one of the most over the top and memorable contestants to ever play the game. Kelly started out as the nice, somewhat ditzy blonde girl. She quickly became friends with everyone in the game, and was not seen as a major threat at all.

Her game really took off in the second round, when she almost singlehandedly got Renny (who was on no one's radar), evicted from the house. This move seemed to feed Kelly's ego, and her confessional blossomed into one of the most confident, cocky, pieces of art known to mankind.

Kelly played everyone, and had almost the entire cast of the game wrapped around her little finger. When push came to shove towards the end of the game, Kelly dropped her UTR, friends with everyone style of play and morphed into full out bitch mode. It was truly a thing of beauty to behold. Her feuds with Corinne and Courtney were legendary.

With the help of Jennifer (who we will get to later), Kelly was able to overcome a big numbers disadvantage and turn the game around in her favor. I recall that she started practicing her words for the Final Tribal Council somewhere around final 6. Us admins all thought it was hilarious, but Kelly did indeed end up making it to the final 2, where she lost a narrow vote to Tonya.

She redeemed herself by winning Vertigo All Stars, but that's a different story in and of itself. Kelly G. is a legendary character and definitely worthy of the Vertigo Hall of Fame.

JENNIFER VAZQUEZ, played by GNARLS IN CHARGE
Posted Image

Two characters from Vertigo 3 up for nomination. No wai. WAI!

As big of a character as Kelly G, was to this game, Jennifer was just as important. From the very beginning she had all of us admins laughing with her off the wall gameplay.

Jennifer started off on the wrong foot with some people. I recall her playing the religious angle and saying that she was a born again Christian, or something like that! Courtney, who apparently finds religion a very touchy subject, was put off by this and called Jennifer out. Jenn was on a lot of people's radars for early eviction. I personally thought that she would not make it past the first few rounds. Thankfully I was proven wrong.

Despite getting off on the wrong foot, Jennifer was able to fly under the radar and stay out of harm's way for a very long time. I remember her always voting unpredictably and trying to make every single vote an interesting one. When Cappy was evicted, he flew off the handle and called Jenn out by her real life name. This could have spelled instant doom for Jenn if people had figured out her ID based on this. But luckily it never really turned into an issue.

Despite being called out for being untrustworthy and a ruthless backstabber, Jenn was unphased by the Cappy rage quit. She continued to float along to the end, voting randomly the whole way. When it came down to the wire and her one vote became essential, she decided to join Tonya and Kelly in voting off Courtney at the Final 6. It was perhaps the biggest move made in the game. At F5, Jenn also forced a tie vote with Corrine and Kel, much to no one's surprise.

Jennifer was evicted at the final three, leaving Kelly and Tonya to duke it out at the end. She didn't go down without a fight though, posting one hell of a final argument. Jennifer caused a lot of unpredictability and excitement. This game definitely would not have been as epic without her.

SEPHIROTH, played by RECYCLEHUMANS
Posted Image

Sephiroth was the odds on favorite to win had he made the F2 in Vertigo 6. No doubt about it.

From the very beginning, Sephiroth was there to play the game. He was a fun, in character presence on the boards. The perfect mix between asshole-ish villain and lovable goof. Plus his sexay avatar made people automatically like him no matter what.

Having never experienced recyclehumansownage firsthand as a player or admin, I was very pleasantly surprised by his approach. He played it hard, but he didn't overplay his hand. Despite being a huge target and one of the biggest threats to win from like, day one, he kept his cool and stuck to his gameplan. He was always able to convince people that he was of some use to them. He was really only in danger once, and that was when he was on the block next to Rayne. I still don't know what would have happened had the nominations stayed. Fortunately for him, Sephi won Veto and took himself off the block.

One of the things that makes Sephiroth unique is his ability to work with people who had been targeting him to be voted out. His alliance with Snake and Dr Robotnik was a thing of beauty. It was nice to see a bunch of power players who SHOULD have been gunning for one another come together and make it to the F3. It was also nice to see how he adapted to having Mega Man (a complete ORG noob) as his partner. They worked very well together.

Overall, Sephiroth was a very cerebral player who had an amazing read on people, and knew when to make moves and when to lay low. May not sound like a Hall of Fame caliber player to the casual Vertigo follower, but there was just something magical about Sephiroth that defies explanation. His agressiveness and approach to the game was awesome to see. It is hard to put into words. But when you have a player who played so hard, made so many smart decisions, and didn't piss anyone off in the process.... you've got a recipe for success. Sephiroth was the star of Vertigo 6.

VOTING IS NOW OPEN!

The deadline is two weeks from today, which I guess would be the 16th. If any of the nominees would like to plead their case, now is the time to do so!

Good luck to everyone involved!

Since my vote counts, I may as well speak my piece.

I think it would be a travesty if Jack didn't win. First winner. Dominant social and challenge game. He truly played a flawless and memorable game. He also helped out with the avatars. He gave the first season an awesome winner, which I think really helped kick the series off on the right foot. He has contributed so much, and I think that deserves recognition.

Jack epitomizes everything that is RIGHT with the series. But then again, so do the others! You really can't go wrong with any of the choices.

But Jack would be my vote, which has already been logged. Feel free to disagree.

Can we vote for a write in candidate?

I propose we be allowed to vote for Pete Rose . If he can't get his deserved enshrinement in the MLB Hall Of Fame the least we could do is honor him by being the very first Vertigo Hall Of Famer even if he has had no involvement with the series.

I never thought of Jen as unpredictable at all . I was way more calculated thoughtful and methodical with my action then I usually am.

:P I guess beecause I snowed other players real well and I was actually using my confessionals in a showy way as opposed to Ozzy who documented things like a file clerk it made all my swing vote rounds look like wtf way is he going when I was pretty assured of what I wanted to do every round the last third of the game .
