Didn't SJ get to #1 and retire, too? Or was he there for a while before retiring?

Some of these Taylor Street haterade posts are a little laughable.

He does compare to SuperJude, we have a rankings system that crunched the numbers and spit out what it did for a reason.

Throwing out the numbers whenever you like is pretty ridic.

Until SuperJude comes and owns Taylor Street, TS is the better player, the numbers don't lie.

I now need to take a shower.

 No. So if you changed the way the rankings are set up and gave a bonus for winning, the numbers still wouldn't lie but Taylor wouldn't be first.

That argument is honestly dumb when there are various ways to set up a ranking system.

Also, Taylor has only played 5 games while SuperJude has played way more. It's much more difficult to hold that average after that many games.

I think one also needs to take into consideration the caliber of the games in which players compete.

The cast can make a huge difference. And I don't mean to discredit games or hosts, but I think say a win in one of JeffP3's Survivor games is a much bigger accomplishment than winning a game run by a new host with a inactive/inexperienced cast.

Superjude for example won in FML's China. From what I've read, that game was both extremely competitive and had a fantastic cast.

I think Taylorstreet's most "competitive" game could be classified as Brawl...where I think quite a bit of the "veteran players" were wiped out in twists. I mean I got third there, and will be the first to admit that luck played a huge role in getting to the merge. Yes, you had to utilize your secret group etc, but if it had been straight up Survivor, for example, I'd say about half of the merge players would not have made it there.

And as has been mentioned numerous times, winning a game is a lot harder to acheive than coming in second. Trust me, I've finished second enough times to know that goating oneself is a very simple task that can repeated time and time again. Winning the respect of jurors is much harder to acheive.

I half agree with FT. It is much more impressive to win a competitive game than one with a bunch of inactives. Still, though, even in a competitive game, placing doesn't always determine how good of a player you are. My strategic game as Jake in Kiribati should not have netted me close to a 7th place finish, yet I almost got a whole lot further. I will go as far as saying that the winner isn't always the "best player" of a game, and that's why I know these rankings mean nothing. There can't be a best overall player because everyone's performance differs from game to game, and everyone values different criteria for their own opinions. This argument will never get anywhere.

Disclaimer: I have never played with Super Jude, but I have to assume he is a complete tool in games just like he is in a non-anonymous setting.

I think we all know in general that the FML/JeffP3/etc games are a lot better, difficult and complex than say EDP :lbf But I disagree with what you're saying.

A lot of people want to up their ranking (Personally, I think we should just do away with the entire rankings list and let people have fun :shrug ), but by crediting certain games as 'better' or 'worthy of a higher percentage' than others, you're pretty much saying to all the nerds here "Hey, don't play in these games. Just play in these games." You're also leaving part of the rankings up to an opinion, and opinions have no room in statistics.

Besides, every cast nowadays, even in legit games like FML, Redux, and Stranded are all made up of IYBIL, VMK, Blueberry, Crazyalexi just total noobs who suck and are inactive but think they're good players because that entire 'clique' invades the game so that's how it is. Every game is turning into EDP. :shrug

So essentially, game value is worthless. A lot of different things can factor into a game. So there's no need to go behind the veil.

What I think should be done is for those who win to receive bonus points in the rankings on their victory. That should even everything out.

I'm sorry but you do. You're not a good player by any means. And I'm not saying it to be mean, I'm saying it so you can try and improve your game. In Redux 14, the only veterans were me and Aras. That's why you got so far. :shrug

If you played in games where you were the sole noob, and it wasn't a mass cast of noobs, then you wouldn't nearly do as well and by getting the boot early you'd improve your game.

But it seems like GTS veterans don't even play games anymore. :shrug So what do I know?

There can't be a best overall player because everyone's performance differs from game to game, and everyone values different criteria for their own opinions.

I couldn't agree with this more. The top 10 of my ORG-ranking list would not be the top ten in this ranking, simply because I just don't prefer the way they play in games necessarily. Obviously their overall ranking means they've been more successful in these games than others and you can't take that away. There are several players not in the top 10 (for example, IslandSun, Cassidy, Jeff, Chapera Rocks) who, if I were making a ranking, would definitely appear in the top 10 based on their performances.

Does that make sense? idk.
