I would cast Gnarls not for his rank but for his pure randomness and fluky sense of humor.

I would want PT not because of his ranking but because of the larger-than-life personality he would bring to a game.

All emoticons aside, I have no idea what it's like to have the pressure of maintaining a decent ranking, but hey, maybe if I was above the Top 50 or something, I'd feel more compelled to sacrifice entertainment value in exchange for strong play. I don't know. It seems unlikely, but I'm sure everyone says the same thing until they're sitting there at #2 and realizing they're pretty proud of that.

Anyway, Rudy, whatever gets you back into ORGs, do it. Everybody uses different methods to have fun, but I can't imagine not playing is very fun at all. Same goes for everyone else: I don't care what you do as long as it gets you involved in these games. The larger player base, the better.

Maybe we could implement an option to decline a game affecting your ranking (so long as you inform the host prior to the start of the game)? That way you can't back out of an unexpected poor performance, but you can feel free to play in a wacky, sure-to-bomb way and know it won't affect your placements here. Of course, I'm sure many people would take issue with this (especially people who have already destroyed their rankings :lbf), but it's something to consider.

Exactly.

If I were in the top 10, I'd probably be a little more selective as to which game(s) I'd play and would want to make sure I had the time allowed to have me do well.

But I'm not in the top 10 and most likely will never be, so consider me your gaming slut :scared:

If rankings do influence people's minds about whether they play games and how they play... what exactly is the reason for playing games then?

The rankings have been around for the longest time, ever since we had the CTS thread on sucks that Remote started. So its still kinda funny how still its a controversial thing in ORGs.

I used to have it dictate how I play, but now I realize it doesn't matter because it says nothing about you as a gamer for the most part.
I'm in the 40s right now, but that doesn't let it discount that I won 3 survivor games. Hell, I am proud of my 10th place as ASS Amber.
My Top 10 Favorite Placements:

Linda- 1/16 -Redux Africa

Tyler B- 5/17 -Big Brother Hollywood Boulevard
Tank- 5/18 -The Nightclub 3
Nightcrawler- 6/11 -Super Heroes/Super Villains
Linda- 10/21 -Redux All Stars

If I were casting a game, I'd want spn not for his ranking but because he is a GOD in all aspects of the game.

And quite honestly a few ranker higher than me that I would crush on any given day.

Oh? Do tell. :popcorn

Jk. :<3

In regards to playing outside the box, I've been attempting more shticks as of late, but even those are pretty tame compared to some of the OTT stuff that goes on, especially with people like PT. :dance

Once my ranking slipped down below 50% I didn't care anymore and so I took risks like Brandon's lisp. It didn't work out but I was having fun while it lasted. :)

I agree, being so high up in the rankings puts pressure on me to do well. I feel like some of the people on the bottom of the ranking really look up to me and so it's a lot of added stress. :drop

I don't have much time in general, so I have to decline most games anyways. When I do play, I try my best to stay in character no matter what. Almost always, I play to win. I don't care about placement because anything worse than first is still a loser.

If I'm playing a character that I know has no chance in hell of winning (like I did with Forrest Gump), these rankings actually push me harder. Yes, I had a lot of fun with my character, but I never expected to be pissed off at all when I was booted. I knew I was an annoyance who could go at any time, but I also never expected to work my ass off to get in a good position where I should have been safe. It was more me wanting to play for myself than anything else, but I can admit the rankings go both ways.

FOR THE RECORD, I know that at times I play kind of boringish, but that's not because I'm worried about my rankings, it's because I'd like to actually win and ORG one day. Just fyi ^_^

Why do you have to play "boringish" to win? Jeremy's Greg in Belize is probably the best winner I've seen. I don't think anyone could call him boring.

Well that's great for him, but I'm not sure that would work for me. Not that playing boringish has worked for me either, I'm just saying...

Although the closest I've ever come to winning was probably my least-boring character, so I don't know. From experience, it's just the best way to get far.

From my experience, if you make the merge/jury playing a character, the only way you'll get taken out is if someone wants to fuck up their game...which seems to happen quite a bit. It's much more difficult to make the jury stage, though. Don't really see why you can't play a character and have a good strategic game. Look at Jules from Vertigo 7. He probably wins if his alliance could win one challenge (and we were up 4-2 at the final 7 since Ash was throwing everything).

I actually target people who aren't playing schticks. They bore me.

Why is ther lurker bar not back yet? It's really stupid.

I think people need to stop targeting people in ORG for the sole reason they are a big personality. The borewhore gamebots go after those people off the start because they're easy targets but that doesn't make you an good player for targeting the obvious..it makes you the killer of what could potentially be an entertaining character right off the bat.

Everyone who has ever voted out a player over a no show is a pos. I think people would care less if you could actually have fun in these games without being voted out first for it.

ORG rules need to be more stingy about how often people get removed for inactivity. ^_^ Unless it's like...a tribal based game. Easy outs ftw.

Rankings do admittedly kind of make me worried how I finish in a game, but at the end of the day they're for fun and it doesn't matter where you finish. If anything it may push you to do well, that's a plus.
