I wonder what other assumptions we've been making that may prove invalid? She also says Chase is the person who does Shannon in (next episode!), which would be a nice development for his character and prove he's not as dumb as Brenda labels him. On re-watch of the first episode, I really saw Jud as a more simplified character than Chase, who has legs and could become quite the storyline. I'm sticking with Chase as my winner pick.

Hey PT Just out of curiosity, why does Chase turning on Shannon prove he's not as dumb as Brenda labels him? Brenda kind of suggested that she was going to flirt and use men to her advantage, so wouldn't Chase going with Brenda and not Shannon kind of fortify the idea that Chase actually might be clueless as Brenda labeled him as he falls for Brenda's flirtations? Not saying Chase is dumb or clueless, and with spoilers floating around that Chase does very well and that he outlasts Brenda, obviously Brenda doesn't use him and then step over him to the end. My question is simply based on Chase doing Shannon in, not anything else. Thanks.

cacafuego Posts: 7,118 Group: ORG Gamerr Member #90 Joined: December 8, 2007	Oh, I think Chase is a total dummy with no idea how to play the game, and if he wins, it'll be thanks to a combination of luck and his natural likability. But the point is that I think he's getting a long-term story of growth in the edit. We're going to see people like Brenda write him off at first, and he'll frequently struggle with moral dilemmas and his desired approach to the game, but time after time he'll stand up for what he believes in, and ultimately, learn how to bring his own ethics into the game in an effective way. Jud will always be a joke, but Chase will be the guy the editors try to get us to respect as a new person, inside the game and out. That's my guess, anyway.

NaOnka 8. Kelly S 7. Holly 6. Dan 5. Ben 4. Jane FINAL 3 3. Sash 2. Jud 1. Chase Post-Merge Tribes: Yve/Jill/Tyrone/Kelly S/Chase/Brenda/Jud/Ben Marty/Jane/Dan/Holly/Kelly B/Alina/Sash/NaOnka Yve, Jill, and Tyrone are picked off as their tribe throws/loses challenges. Kelly B is booted for her association with Shannon in the double TC. Sash and NaOnka forge an alliance with the elders, which prompts Marty to give Sash the HII in preparation for a F12 tie. Of course, they stab him in the back at the merge, re-joining the five younger people from the other tribe. Alina goes next because she's been an outsider since Episode 2, and then the NaOnka/Kelly/Sash/Ben/Jud alliance turns on the Chase/Brenda showmance and blindside Brenda out of the game. NaOnka has remorse for all her treachery, gives Chase the HII out of guilt, and quits at F9. This leaves Kelly/Sash/Ben/Jud without a majority at F8, so the guys break off and leave Kelly for dead. She quits due to being slated as the next boot. The young guys form a strong alliance, and while some of them (Chase) want to keep Holly, others do not, and she goes next. Jane starts winning challenges, so Dan is booted, and then the young guys have to turn on each other, forcing them to knock out Ben. Jane finally goes at F4, and the guys make up the Final 3, where Chase's storyline totally beats out Sash as the villain and Jud as the jokester. Calling it.

I imagine there must have been a better way to portray him. But then again, the editors will always put momentary suspense before any other editing prerogatives. Chase's character is still important to follow.

He's already gotten a complex introduction to the viewers. Now it's time to see where his character goes from there. Jud is kinda wandering and Sash's beginning were a little delayed. I still see a great deal of potential in Chase.

Chase was getting alot more focus than Sash/Jud when it came to gameplay whereas Jud's stuff was all pointless.

Thank you for reminding me the whole playing with these people thing. I had totally forgotten. That's a valid point but still makes Chase a top contender I guess?
