I actually think it'd be more fun if there were real stakes involved. You'd also see way fewer people making Sugar plays. The only downside is if there is money involved people would have more incentive to cheat.

Sugar plays?

True about the cheating, but you would just have to keep more of an eye out for it and maybe not have lurkers.

I was going to offer cash rewards as prizes when I first started my games and charge an entry fee, etc. but was kind of warned away from it. And there would be more reason to cheat, plus a questionable call by a host would be scrutinized exponentially more if there was real money involved.

A good idea, but probably best as an idea.

It would require everything to be one hundred percent pre-planned to avoid things like questionable calls. I think the money would give the hosts incentive to host a better game and players incentive to play harder.

Lol you wanted to charge an entry fee? Profiting from ORGs or would the prize money be equal to all the entry fees?

I wouldn't be playing for the money.

I think that adds an element that takes away from playing ORGs for fun. I think people would be less likely to do shticks, make risky moves, etc.

And the whole cheating thing is likely to crawl into it.

If you actually charged people to play (like pool money for the winner), I would defintley not play.

I don't think it would stop people from risky moves. Schticks maybe but true shtickgods like PT, goohst and ThaiSu would probably keep to what they are good at. During BBAS that I played it was INSANE. People backstabbing their closest friends (it was open id) all for a F2 cash prize. Nutz i tell ya, nutz.

Agreed to all of this.

I think if anything people wouldn't play as hard and would play more MOR. It'd probably take away some of that organic feel of a bunch of people signing up just for fun. If there's some prize involved it'd be like..less bonding, and if someone got voted out they'd probably be more upset.

There's been some small prizes for ORGs (like a $5 gift card for Amazon) but it didn't really change anything, so if there were something like that..maybe something really small.

I think the only possible way you could get away with actual cash prizes for ORGs and not leave yourself open to massive shitstorms of annoyance from angry players is to have something similar to the Survivor contract be a part of the player process. Before anyone can play, they have to acknowledge and agree to a set of game rules and regs, and key phrases that would have to be everywhere in the rules/regs would be similar to "The Producer(s) have the right to change or modify these rules at any time" and "At the sole discretion of the Producer(s)". Though not often used, those are totally key "get out of jail free" cards for any reality production. And if real money goes into games, those words will be the only way to have the final word on it.

I've seen money prizes in games, and it makes it a hell of a lot more cutthroat. Not sure if that makes it more fun, but I never saw cheating issues.

Just because cheating hasn't been seen, it's still very likely it could be happening behind the scenes. For example, IYBIL and Blueberry let each other know they are signing up because money is involved. That's my main concern. There are several measures you could take to minimize cheating but nothing concrete.

I'd like to try this, but it would be hard to avoid cheaters while at the same time let people from GTS sign up.

Didn't Survivor: Harry Potter have a prize?

All of the Colos(or at least some) had prizes too.
ALL THAT MATTERS:

Pokemon Survivor
Hosted by Kitty Pryde1
Played: Beatrix
Placing: 1st out of 18

Well usually, in the games I've heard of where real prizes were offered, you played as yourself. Mistake number one. lol

Still, that would be fun, because I'd TOTALLY break out the "I'm not here to make friends, I'm here for the money!"
"I cast my vote for Gretchen - Skeezy ass skeet skeetin bulldyke whoring skank kthx for the tiara!"

Jeremy gave away every season of Strangers with Candy to Kyle when he won. That was an anonymous game, too.

Half the people were throwing challenges on BB yesterday and that has a 500 K prize.
