This will be a spoiler-free thread for TAR17. I haven't seen any mention of this show yet on GTS. It starts in about two weeks with a 90 minute premiere, which is the appropriate length, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to this one. I won't say exactly where they are going even though a few locations is common knowledge now, but from what I've heard, I think I'll really like this season. I haven't looked too much into the cast yet. The father/son team looks to be a good one. I've seen the watermelon clip, which is hilarious. It was the TV hosts that were involved in that one, right? Anyways, this can be used as general discussion of this season, free of spoilers. |

This doesn't start for two weeks? I probably won't watch this, but I saw a clip of an outtake on ESPN. It was #1 on the Not Top 10 today. It made me laugh quite a bit. |

I've been so wrapped up in Big Brother UK and Big Brother US and the Survivor Nicaragua cast that I didn't even realize the cast had been released for TAR17. 4 female/female teams? The show must be wanting its first female/female team winner after 17 seasons :lol: There's nobody that really stands out. I guess Chad and Stephanie are cute. |

They've been showing that watermelon clip everywhere. I was just at a bar and they had it on a TV on CNN. My friend pointed it out to me, as he had already seen it elsewhere, and I told him it was from TAR. He didn't know that part, so I got another person hooked on the show.

OMFG! I just saw this on The Soup. I'm shocked she didn't have a broken nose or a concussion after that. OUCH!!! I have to root for her, for how well she sucked it up after that. One tough cookie.

We're now less than three days away from the premiere, so it's about time to bump this thread. We've all seen the watermelon clip by now, right? CBS made a very smart decision in letting that go viral. The only bad news about it is that some people may not be able to connect the clip with TAR itself. They just see a woman get hit in the face by a watermelon, and that's it. I think it'll bring in at least a few viewers though. This is a spoiler-free thread so I won't mention anything specific, but I do know some of the countries they visit and I'm quite excited about them. I don't remember the route too well from TAR16, but the only thing that really stands out is Seychelles, and I guess Malaysia too. I enjoyed seeing Shanghai as well, especially since they went into the same exact market in one episode that I went to when I went to China in '08. After hearing about the destinations for TAR17 though, I think it'll probably have a better route than TAR16. |

I really don't like this cast. And lately there's been a pattern between my pre-season feelings about the cast and how good/bad the show is for me so I'm hoping this season isn't lame. |

I love how there aren't any comments in here after the premiere.  Very weak premiere, in my opinion. I usually don't say this for TAR's opening episodes, but it only needed to be an hour. Not enough action happened to warrant 90 minutes. I was looking forward to Stonehenge but it was sort of glossed over. Maybe I was expecting a challenge to be held there, I don't know. Cool location, but maybe not utilized enough. Looks like producers are back to dressing the scenery again. I hate it when they do that. Another reason I didn't like it was because this is the Care Bear cast. It's quite possibly the weakest set of teams in terms of overall skill. Lots of girls, which isn't a bad thing but I don't yet see the point in having the TV show hosts and the doctors, as they seem to fit the same demographic. Sure, it's always fun watching teams make mistakes like the tattooed dating couple and the football player and his girlfriend who ran around the castle seemingly forever. But I guess I'd like to see some teams do well at certain points, and we rarely got that. Then again, the route was also pretty boring (they went to only two locations in the entire leg!) so I can forgive that. At least Ghana will be interesting. It's definitely a 180 from their boring leg in England. I also hated the lack of Detour tonight. Overall, not a great premiere whatsoever. I know the route of this race so I think it will have some interesting locations later on, starting with Ghana, but the cast is certainly leaving a lot to be desired at this point. |
