How could you forget Pixar Survivor?

Take what I said about Nepal and apply it to Pixar.

I approve of Bluth. I played with him in V8 and we initially clicked and formed an alliance and throughout the game, I can say that he's a very clean gamer and no matter how smart and threatening he comes off to people, he still find people to keep that will save him. Very impressive player, in my opinion.

Bluth is so good at disarming you and making you feel comfortable. I actually think he doesn't realize how good he is at this, which is why I say he is a very genuine social player. Bluth is who he is. You'll quickly realize that this guy doesn't mind getting to know you throughout the game, which will cause you to not only really like him, but trust him. Also, since he doesn't come off as a gamebot, he appears less threatening.

I've never seen anyone describe Bluth's social game as perfectly as that. :)

I've seen him win Sinners & Saints and voted for him to win too. Impressive game indeed! At Final Six (my boot), he had so many people wrapped up around his finger that he was just waiting for the F2 to arrive. Only out-of-the-loop Fairplay wanted to push for him. Sigh. What a sad sad round.

The question is....ts2 (Jessica), would you have brought Sally or Jonathan to the F2 had you won the last challenge? :popcorn

Sally and he knew it. He told me too that he was taking Sally. I kept giving reasons to take me (which even I was having a hard time with honestly) and he was very honest with me. And finally I said, I understand I'd take Sally too if I win. I think it was noted that the only person Bluth was honest with when talking about if he was or was not going to boot you was me. No need to lie at that point in the game.

I will say Franklin Bluth is the first person to make me have a genuine crush on a player. I was so smitten with him as Jonathan. He was smooth, genuine, loving, funny. I could go on and on. Bottom line, he is just a pleasure to play with.

Ok so if FranklinBluth and Dictatorship are #11 and #10, no way am I making this list. *hires a hit on Jeff*

I've played with Bluth three times from what I remember, but only interacted with him twice. He was in my first game as Rob and I naively considered him my closest ally. He went on to win the entire game so that was my first impression of Bluth as a player. The second time I ran into him was Fans vs. Favorites where we were aligned until the f5. He played really well in FvF, my only complaint was that he never turned on IslandSun when I thought it was relatively clear IslandSun was the favorite to win if he made the f2.

I didn't witness Sinners vs. Saints but winning such a huge game definitely takes skill. That's not one you can luck into, so I definitely agree with his inclusion on the list.

Bluth seemed to have a weak social game in FvF, but I saw him in Paraguay and Muppetstreet, and his ability to make you trust him really shined through.

If Candace had found a way to make the merge in Tocantins she would have won, I just know it. Such a rawbed pre-jury boot.

I also fell in love with Bluth every time that I played with him.

In Nepal he was closer to Courtney than to me, but the three of us and Erik all had a super tight bond. When the split happened and Earl needed to go, Jason/Bluth was super influential in getting Courtney to swing over and eliminate him.

In Sinners vs Saints I had a bad connection and couldn't be there for like the first two days AT ALL. But the second I got there he and Sally were like 'We are going to try and keep you rory for this round' and they ACTUALLY tried- no bullshit. Unfortunately the connection died again and we couldn't have a BFFs experience in SvS but I was ecstatic (and not too surprised) to learn that he had won.

Plus his name is Franklin Bluth. How can you not loves him forever?

Oh and ETA: In Pixar we was not really on the same side even though I got fourth and he won. But I voted for him and his character was half my name AND he was an amazing underdog that WOULDN'T DIE. So love for that too.

I've heard that MuppetStreet and FML's HvV were not examples of Bluth at 100% so I'm hoping he and I meet again in a future game. :wink

I wanted to get this posted last night but couldn't, so here it is now.

Coming in at #9 is.....

island sun

Referenced Games:

Nepal (4th)
Tocantins (8th)
Fans vs. Favorites (1st)
Harry Potter II (2nd)
The Office (5th)
Kiribati (2nd)
Chaos Big Brother (3rd)

island sun and I began our ORG careers in the exact same game: FML's China in the late summer/early fall of 2007. We played again in FML's Pearl Islands, and I watched as a lurker when he was in DGT's Warriors. It wasn't until Nepal, however, that island sun really started going deep into games.

IS (island sun) easily made it through the early rounds of Nepal, and after getting someone to flip to his tribe's side at the merge, was in the majority. After a de-merge and then re-merge, IS still stood strong even though I was targeting him, though it wouldn't have worked. Anyway, when there were seven players left in the game, I realized that IS was one of only two players who would really hear me out, and I ultimately discovered that he was truly in my corner of trying to get me further into the game.

Possibly for the first time ever (correct me if I'm wrong), IS was in a good spot in the final seven of a game. He handled it well, always communicating with everyone to make sure he wouldn't be blindsided. Unfortunately, that sort of happened, as he was surprised to learn that his closest ally betrayed him at the final four. IS was so close to winning, but came up short. Regardless, he now knew he could make it far in a game. His ORG confidence was up there, and it didn't take long before he won his first game, Lost/Heroes. I don't know much about the game, so all I can say is that IS won for the first time ever in late 2008.

When it was time to host my first game ever, Tocantins, I knew I wanted island sun in the cast. He quickly nabbed Tyson to play as, and IS is definitely one of the very few that could play Tyson in full arrogance mode. IS started with a bang, and it was clear he wasn't going to fly under the radar in this game: he made the best first impression on his tribe, which gave him the opportunity to spend some time with the other tribe for a day.

I remember IS being very worried about returning to Timbira right before the first challenge. Despite having immunity at the first Tribal Council he went to, he hated that he was being left out of the group dynamics that were built right off the bat. However, IS had nothing to be worried about; once he got back to Timbira, he quickly made some close friends, and soon enough found himself to be at the center of the tribe.

At the second Tribal Council of the game, IS controlled what happened on Timbira. He was caught between two alliances of four, and ultimately made the decision to save Benjamin "Coach" Wade and axed Debbie/UD. Timbira lost nearly all of the remaining challenges before the merge, but IS was never in danger.

IS continued to be a big character even though he was down 7-3 against Jalapao. Unfortunately, after some flip-flopping and power shifts, IS was booted in 8th place due to past votes and a very trigger-happy backstabber.

Fans vs. Favorites arrived a few months later, and IS returned as Draco from Harry Potter 1. Along with being very strong in challenges, IS was well-connected with nearly every Favorite trusting him. When 10 players were left (being the 10 Favorites), IS laid low for a few rounds until pulling his biggest move of the game: voting out me, The Joker, at the final seven. From this point forward, everyone knew that IS was the biggest threat to win, yet not everyone went after him. IS protected himself with two close allies and a couple more immunity victories. In the final two, it was a split decision but ultimately IS won the game 5-3 for being more cunning and cutthroat than Franklin Bluth.

Next came Harry Potter II. Even though I was a co-host, I don't remember a whole lot about the specifics of IS's game. I do remember him doing well in challenges, as usual, and again being very well-connected. I also remember people saying that IS was sort of cold in PMs, and sometimes insincere. He was up against the goat at the final two, but in a shocking jury decision, IS lost the game.

Early this year, IS played in The Office as Kevin. Originally he wanted to be Angela, but felt that she was a little too similar to some of his previous characters, so silly and stupid Kevin would have to do. In my opinion, it was definitely one of his better schticks. Everyone loved Kevin, and he easily made it to the jury as possibly the best player in the game at that point. He made a very powerful alliance that got him to the final five, but when that alliance broke apart and they went after each other, IS took the fall. It didn't matter; IS had fun and entertained everyone, and played a great game, so there wasn't any bad blood here.

Then came Kiribati. Oh Kiribati. In a crazy and twist-filled game, full of seasoned ORG players who backstabbed each other at nearly every Tribal Council of the game, IS flew under the radar. In fact, he wasn't even picked to be on a tribe at the very beginning, landing himself on the "outcast" tribe, which actually served him very well. He continued to play well, talked to everyone, and made some strong bonds despite being on the wrong end of the vote right before the merge.

IS's merge game reminded me of my merge game in Pearl Islands: be everyone's friend, lay low, and be nice. IS did just that. It wasn't until the final seven that IS really became a threat as he attempted to backstab an alliance of four that was, at the time, in power. Things happened, which caused two other players to flip on their alliance, but in the end IS got his way.

He suddenly came on strong in the challenges, but at the final four he failed to beat Tanya, the biggest threat in the game. IS played a fake Hidden Immunity Idol, showing doubters in the game and in the jury that Neleh (IS) had a funny bone in her. IS easily won a tie-breaker challenge and moved on to the final three.

And here is where IS made his big mistake. He won the final challenge, and instead of getting rid of Tanya who was far and away the jury's favorite, he booted Matthew. IS said he wanted to go up against the best player and prove he could beat them. Well, he got the first part right, but failed in the second. IS ended up getting beaten in the final two in a jury vote of 9-0. Tanya had played such a good game that she got all nine jury votes. In what crazy world do we live in where IS loses a jury vote unanimously?

IS also played in my Chaos Big Brother game a few months ago, playing as the over-the-top Libra who constantly attacked people she didn't like, of which there were quite a few. IS was skilled enough to get the Hidden Power with no extra clues, which a few other players were privy to, giving him a leg up in the crazy final six round. In the end, IS wound up in 3rd place after playing a solid and quite loud game. He pissed certain people off, while others loved him. Regardless, no one could forget Libra's impact on the game, and I think that's what IS was aiming for.

I tried to talk about as many games as possible here because I've been fortunate enough to see IS grow as a player. He started off meek and mild in China, Pearl Islands, and Warriors. Come Tocantins and Fans vs. Favorites, however, IS knew what the hell he was doing and threatened just about anyone that came across his path. He is one of the best challenge whores around, which has saved his neck multiple times.

There really isn't an outstanding flaw in IS's game. Yes, he was accused of being cold in Harry Potter II. Yes, his sense of humor can annoy certain people. But I think in the end, IS is on this list because he has become extremely goal-oriented (meaning is focused on winning) in the past couple of years. In the beginning, he just wanted to make it through round by round. Now, he aims for the end game, for the victory, for the title of sole Survivor. Not everyone is like that. Also, as evidenced by Kevin in The Office and Tyson in Tocantins, and even Libra in Chaos BB, IS has the ability to play a fun schtick while also playing the strategic game that he wants to play to the best of his ability. His schtick doesn't get in the way of his game.

For those reasons and many more, IS is a very dangerous gamer. He proved in FvF that he is willing to backstab even the closest ally to win. Couple that with his challenge abilities, and you have a gaming monster. After witnessing him play in so many games as a player, host, and co-host, how the heck could I not include him in this list? Watching IS go from the quiet nice guy early on to major threat to win every single game he plays recently has been beautiful, and I hope there are many more IS performances to come.
