Lolz at all these scores that go up to 2400. Back in my day, we only could score a maximum of 1600 which *cough* I did. I 36'ed up the ACT too. Such a prodigy ![]() The test is cake. Kids nowadays never read so they fail at the reading section. I never read in high school, but my nerdy elementary days paid off.

Good luck with your SAT. As everyone already said, the tests are much easier than you'd expect. I don't know why it is made out to be such a big deal. I loved taking aptitude tests when in school. My grades were never that great, due to serious issues at home & the fact that I worked 40+ hours a week while I was in HS. Yet, I always aced all tests. Most of it is common sense & logic. I took the ACT, SAT & ASVAB (because a couple of my BFFs were planning on going into the military, so we all took it together). Big mistake, because once I took the test, I had all four branches of the military calling & sending literature to me. There is no way I am cut out for military. My best friend was class valedictorian & she was so mad at me because I scored higher than her on all the tests. I think she psyched herself out, because she was studying like a maniac before the tests. |

My essay was quite possibly the most cliched thing ever written. I think I did pretty well on math, but I had brain malfunctions on some things, like min/max.... But the English, oh GOD. I haven't done a grammar test in the last two years, so I did so bad on that part...there was obvious stuff but then I just had no idea what was wrong with it, and I knew some of them had to have something wrong with them since I had a nice number I was confused on(Like, not a lot but like...10 across all the sections). Pretty sure I did pretty legit on the reading sections though, except the last fill in the blank in each section I didn't know(I guessed on like one of the 3 and skipped the other 2).... Worst 5 hours of my life. And its not even that it was hard, its just your so damn tired at the end of it you just want it to be over. I just picked whatever sounded right for the 10 minute section, I wanted to go. I'll take it again after New Years if I do horrible. |

If they don't want cliche essays they shouldn't have cliche topics. Mine last year was "do people get along better with someone who is similar to or different from them?" All you have to do for grammar for the most part is pick the thing that sounds correct and it probably is. Thats how I aced that part. Unless you're from the south that might not work. Yeah the main problem with it is that is so damn long and early on a saturday. You feel like shit afterwords. Go have fun today! |

I forgot to take work off today. I leave in 6 minutes. I'm legit scared that if I talk about the essay topic they'll find it and like cancel my scores, but it was stupid. I get my scores in like 2 weeks so I'll post it then. And if I just pick the one that sounds right its probably wrong because where I live everyone says 'they' when they mean 'he or she' and dangling prep phrases galore, which there seemed to be a lot of on it. I hate how I don't like to leave shit blank, I know its smarter to leave it blank if you don't know it but I feel more dumb leaving it blank then getting it wrong. The only positive of the day was my ride and I got those Frappes at McDonald's beforehand.

Agreed on the English portion. But the math part gave me trouble. I mean I got pretty good scores but I usually ended up with a few problems I never even got to get to. I hate that the math part is timed. Math is a subject you should be able to take your time with. |

I'm with everyone else here in proclaiming the SATs as completely overrated. But then again, I think the GTS crowd is just generally a more intelligent, articulate group of people then your standard high school classroom. ![]() I got a 2330 altogether (1550 on Math/Reading). I took it twice simply because I missed only one question on the Math section the first time around, and it pissed me off and fucked with my anal retentiveness and I wanted to get a perfect score. I missed one question on Math again the second time I took it. ![]() I totally bombed the SATII for Spanish, though. I had to take three subject tests for applications to good schools, and while I did fine on Literature and Calculus or whatever it was, I got, like, a 620 on Spanish. ![]() ETA: I'm so excited for the LSATs, by the way. Not only am I great at standardized tests, but the LSATs are basically a test of logic, reasoning, and writing prowess, which is basically a description of my strongest skill set. ![]() ETA2: Also, I end every one of my paragraphs with an emoticon.
