There are already so many really really good movies in the honorable mentions alone. Can't wait to see what you regard as the best of the 2000s, DGT.

Here's another hint -- out of all of the posts in this entire thread, not one person has mentioned it or even come close to mentioning it. But if you're someone who knows me very well, it's a movie that should be fairly obvious. Jeremy knows what it is (I spoiled the top 3 for him while I was in Chicago) and I would think Jeff could make a reasonable guess...

To quote the beginning of its writeup...

"The first film to be added to this list was (name of film). It was placed at #1 at that moment. It is the only film that never faced risk of being moved to a different placement or dropped."

Inception?

(But I did notice Plummy mentioning it while scanning through the thread so maybe not.)

I don't think it's Inception because it's from 2010.

How about Martyrs? :popcorn

Hm. That's not really a number one kind of movie though judging from the rest of the movies DGT has listed.

I haven't read this thread yet, but I saw your hint, and like the challenge. Could it be a Wes Anderson movie such as "The Royal Tenenbaums" or "The Life Aquatic?" Those two are some of my ~regal~ favorites.

This is one of those situations where I don't have a clue what it is at this moment, but when the answer is posted, I'll say, "oh yeah, of course!"

Okay, just searched through this thread and didn't see any Wes Anderson Movies, so either you hate Wes Anderson movies, or I nailed it. Anyways, thanks for the list of good movies!

OMFG The Mist?

I've only been able to see half of it and have read the script. I still haven't been able to catch the whole thing yet, much to my extreme sadness. :(

The Mist has the best ending to any movie I've ever seen.

I know people will flame me but I just watched Brooklyn's Finest and the movie is fantastic. Underrated, for sure.

Oh, I know I would love all of THE MIST. I have no doubt. Frank Darabont is one of my unquestioned writing and filmmaking heroes. And reading the ending was one of the very few moments I've ever had in reading a script where I felt sick to my stomach because of the pitch-black darkness and power of what I read. I was fucking stunned. And I cannot wait to see exactly how Darabont executed it.
