Russian Ark? Seriously? It's an amazing technical accomplishment but I kinda felt sleepy partway through it.

If Inland Empire just missed the final cut I can only assume Mulholland Drive is in it. Personally Blue Velvet will always remain my favorite and yeah, I know it's not from the past decade.

It's a fair criticism, no question. I always think of it first for what it was able to pull off. When I try to remember it as an emotional experience... yeah, not as easy.

Amelie and Kill Bill own.

Yeah, I'd definitely include those two in my "favorites of the past decade" list. I don't even know how to describe how elated I was when leaving the theaters after seeing them. Like, I could have walked out into traffic after watching Amelie and died in a state of pure bliss.

I also balk at combining the two Kill Bill movies because I find them to be at such opposite ends of the spectrum. I like to say that Vol. 1 is the better "movie", while Vol. 2 is the better "film" - mostly because Vol. 1 is very heavy on style and light on substance.

I'm not that upset about the LOTR trilogy not being top 10 either. I just was never that personally invested in those movies because I'd never read the books. I saw them once in the theaters and I think that was enough for me.
Famewhore Academy 4 - Fox (6/20)
Survivor Nicaragua - Chase Rice (9/40)
Big Brother: Fuller - Jaye (5/16)

Why aren't you pointing your finger at grows, who I have provided sufficient evidence against? She is the starter of all things evil in games.

If you haven't seen it appear on the Honorable Mentions, it's still in the running for the top ten.

Ultimately, I decided to present KILL BILL and LOTR as single units because that's what KILL BILL was supposed to be in the first place and LOTR films narratively, to me, simply don't stand on their own otherwise. What knocked KILL BILL out for me, in the end, was VOL. II. I really, really don't like it much at all, while I think VOL. I is fucking brilliant.

One host/ess has promised that ^_^

Oh and you have some annoying favorites, but I appreciate you A LOT including movies like Das Weisse Band (The White Ribbon). It was so haunting and stayed with me for a long time.

1. Bruce Almighty
2. Dreamgirls
3. Diary of a Mad Black Woman
4. Not Another Teen Movie
5. Josie and the Pussycats

alol

Thank god none of the LOTR movies will be making an appearance on the real ranking. They're a self-indulgent meandering traipse through beautiful sets, nothing more. If I ever want to sit down and watch a director masturbate for 3 hours, I'll put in one of the LOTR movies. :eyes

I'm glad most of those Honorable Mentions are out of the running, actually, because they're mostly movies that just don't shine quite enough. WALL-E's not the best Pixar movie of the decade and The Hurt Locker failed thematically. I will say I still haven't seen The White Ribbon (or City of God, for that matter), so I need to get on that.

This is actually exactly why I love the trilogy. :D

I don't see cinematic excellence there. I can watch the Discovery Channel in HD and get the same viewing experience.

Some of us unfortunately don't have HD TVs. -_-

And discovery channel is mostly just animals mating. Riveting in its own way of course. :<3

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is awesome.

I love it so, so much. And the books are great too :<3

Hopefully "El secreto de sus ojos" (The Secret in their Eyes?) isn't on this list because it wasn't that good ^_^

The Hurt Locker  Amelie

Wall-E was good but overrated. Not to sound pretentious but Pixar sucks dick when compared to Japan's Studio Ghibli. Spirited Away > all animated movies, ever.

I really liked LOTR 1 + 2, despite some glaring flaws, and 3 was good until the last 20 minutes which were rather embarrassing. Peter Jackson tends to over direct a lot, he's an idiot.
