Unbreakable was awesome.

But I agree that Robin's Cage is the best film of the decade.

Here's my top 10:

Pan's Labyrinth

Oh shit, totally forgot Pan's Labyrinth. That'd probably go in my Top 10. Fuck, I don't know, I'd have a hard time narrowing it down. :lbf

How is Little Miss Sunshine overrated?

Because I don't think it's the film-making genius every critic seems to believe it is?

Movies, like all things, are ~subjective~

I refuse to conform to what supposedly makes a good movie. ^_^

There are two viewpoints I take on movies. There's the critical analysis viewpoint and there's the visceral emotional reaction viewpoint. Both are subjective technically but only critical analysis can be argued. Visceral reaction is personal.

For example critically "Avatar" was only "pretty good". But my emotional visceral personal reaction to it was "OMGWTFORGASM".

I kind of hate my friend Aerille for ruining Avatar for me by ranting on the critical viewpoint on it but then finding out a month later she NEVER EVEN SAW IT. Bitch.

Also, I loved Hurtlocker myself. It's a movie you have to be prepared to see you can't just half watch it while on your laptop.

Were the big words too much for you Mikey?

1st grade reading level version: Mikey watch movie. Mikey feel one way about movie while watch. That one way see it. Mikey think about movie and pick apart its pieces like acting and editing later. That other way to see it.

Which is all well and good, but there's nothing even remotely redeeming about Clash of the Titans. Like, what can you possibly like about a movie that would lead to you enjoying that film? It showcases poor acting, atrocious writing, shitty directing, and a visual clusterfuck of failure. Even as a complete and utterly worthless summer popcorn flick...it fails. It doesn't deliver on anything. Transformers 2 at least looked cool, while being pathetic in every other regard. The Clash of the Titans remake doesn't even have that.

Mikester there's no way you can possible not identify with having a instant emotional reaction to a movie and then later on an intellectual analytic one.

If you don't, then you're probably an emotionless robot or an idiot, depending on which half you don't identify with. Which would make you the weirdo at least this time around.

You know that feeling you get after you see a really good movie? That exhausted feeling that you need a second to recover while the credits roll? That's the emotional reaction.

Sorry, I didn't know it was critically acclaimed. I don't usually pay attention to movie critics after seeing the New York Times leave out Forrest Gump and Shawshank Redemption of the best 1000 movies of all time. Then again, those won Oscars, so they aren't the best examples. When I saw Roger Ebert gave Zoolander 1 star and Waiting... a bomb rating, I stopped caring.

Roger Ebert is a fucking idiot. He has this uncanny ability to be willing to sit through absolute shlock for minimal payoffs, and he can't seem to wrap his head around the cultural advances we've made in our society. His video game article disaster opened everyone's eyes to his current irrelevance and outdated perspectives, I think.

You only laughed because you were so painfully enduring an hour and a half of awful nonsense before that. You were looking for any excuse to find joy in your bleak situation. I don't blame you, but don't mistake that forced momentary lapse in discomfort for true bliss.

I can't wait to do my end of the year movie rankings. I might do it here since I don't know anyone who posts at CTS anymore.

190 watched so far.

Rudy, have you seen Scott Pilgrim versus the World? If so, that for #3 behind Toy Story 3 and Inception. If not, go see it.
