Love the themes for this week. So many great songs to choose from in either decade.

Someone should do Never Gonna Give You Up just for the lulz. I would vote for anyone that sang that.

Actually if you have a question regarding "covers" or "remakes" of songs from different decades, just let me know what you wanna do. It'll just depend on a case-by-case basis how similar or not they are to the original.

Am I the only person that thinks a fine frenzy didn't actually sing, and just let a Youtube cover of Stay Beautiful play the entire time? It's not that hard to tell...

Since I missed the last two rounds, I thought I would offer up some brief retroactive judging for the remaining competitors:

SFGP
Time After Time wasn't good, per se, but it did go surprisingly well. You did better with it than I would have been able to, although one of my biggest pet peeves in this competition is when people don't properly prepare and find themselves running out of breath or falling behind the lyrics.
Your timing was slightly off again in Part of Your World, but I also think it's your best performance so far. It was fun and entertaining, and on a couple of notes, I actually heard something that didn't sound half-bad. I'd go so far as to say that submission singlehandedly earned your placement in the Final 4.

aff
Paparazzi was pretty great, and you deserved the commendation you got for it. But I actually don't think it was your strongest performance. Maybe vocally? But in terms of raw energy, something just wasn't there.
Hopelessly Devoted to You was an even bigger stretch, but I'm very proud of you for taking a risk and going for something you might not be totally comfortable with. Understandably, it resulted in a few missed notes, but it also allowed you to show off skills that you alone possess in this competition.

alexi
Fuckin' Perfect was another bad song choice, and as long as you keep making those, I can't fully back you. You actually had parts where you made the song work for you, but for the most part, it was a mess.
Stand By Me, on the other hand, was finally a very appropriate selection. What I wanted to see was you go strong on one of the choruses, so I was disappointed when that never happened. But it was still probably your best performance thus far, vocally.

Alffy
Pink didn't work well for you either, at least not with Sober. This was another example of a song that wasn't glaringly bad, but it was also missing something to make it noteworthy.
As fun as the video format was for Prom Tonight (particularly with your choreographed dancing :lbf ), that was probably your worst submission vocally. You had a certain amount of magic early in this competition, and you need to find that again if you want to beat your stiff competitors here in the end.

trickmind
For the first time in the competition, I found your voice slightly grating during Jolene. I think you tried to do some different things with it, and it didn't work.
However, I really liked what you did with Thank You. It was original and unique, and as I've said countless times before, that counts for a lot with me. Was it better than the original? I'm not sure about that. But it was fun to listen to. Everyone needs to watch out, because there's a real chance you could slip into the finals of this thing.

Also, a note for madhack - it sucks that you got eliminated the round you had your best video so far. :(

lmao I'm staying far away from Whitney or any power divas :shifty no way Jose!

you can finally do "lawd when you believe..."

I love 80's so much too. I grew up with my sister listening to Madonna and Whitney. I blame her for the way I am now. =/

It's called "Killing me Softly" and it's a 1970s song. lol I think I get where you're coming from though. There are some songs one just wants to do but they haven't come up. Don't worry I wouldn't want that one myself. They made us sing it over and over in some choir group I was in at school. Killing us softly with it in fact.

Um I didn't even know you wanted me to, you posted part of a lyric in this thread. You should have PMed me if you wanted a response.

Anyway, if you do the Fugees version that's fine since it's different enough.
