No. It doesn't mean she is "innocent" it means there was "reasonable doubt" about whether she was guilty. -_-

I tried to get this point across to Joss awhile ago, too.

Better ten guilty men out then one innocent man behind bars. Good on the judicial system. She's still a total slimeball, but these are the kinds of cases that reaffirm my confidence in the justice complex.

I think a lot of people (in the nation, not just here) don't understand the judicial system. Do I think Casey Anthony is sick and probably had some involvement in the death of a CHILD? Yes. I do.

But when it comes to the court system, the prosecution has the job of presenting the evidence to a jury of strangers (much like some of our favorite shows). And if they cannot cast the belief that she 100% did it - then she isn't guilty. Much of what the prosecution did was proving that there was a dead girl (which we knew) and proving that Casey Anthony was a slut and a liar. And this is where the defense got them. The prosecution wasn't aiming for the right stuff. The defense had an easy job in this case - despite the fact that there was so much evidence "against" Casey. That evidence wasn't proving much of what the state charged.

And one critical mistake the prosecution made was going for the death penalty. No jury, a jury consisting of real people, is going to convict someone of the death penalty unless they 100% know that she did it. Could you have that feeling resting on your shoulders? That you killed someone that only probably killed their kid. Maybe? Too much uncertainty. I don't think the prosecution stood a chance in this from the beginning.

Finishing up, I think only Casey knows what happens and honestly she'll still have to live with it the rest of her life. She's not going to have a job, or probably any friends (Jose Baez, perhaps), but what if she was innocent? I doubt it, but I can't be sure. Nobody can and that's why she got off with the charges she did.

Is that because you think some of the posters in this thread are making light of a child's death,... or what exactly?

This is particularly set me off.

I think she's guilty but the verdict being not guilty was so  :<3  :<3  :<3 . Like, so many people watched that trial for the sole reason of seeing her finally get what she deserves (like my mom, aunt, and grandma) and her being not guilty is so  :rofl that I can't help but love it

I can totally accept she is legally not guilty. I can live with that completely. Cause she is only "not guilty," certainly not innocent.

But that verdict is not "<3" at all. For all the people that watched to see her "get hers" there are those that watched in hopes that somone would speak for a dead little girl. Casey Anthony has tons of people that can speak for her. Her daughter, not so much.

I guess I am just another frau that melted down over this. I'm a parent. I have a daughter. If she were missing for an hour I'd be out of my mind. I certainly wouldn't be off getting a fucking tatoo that says my life is beautiful when I knew full well my daughter was dead.

The whole situation is just a travesty and seriously I just can't see how there is any joy to be found in this outcome, tongue in cheek or not.

I agree with ts2. One smart think Jose Baez said was that nobody is a winner in the case. Caylee is still dead and it's sad. Whoever did this should feel...well they don't deserve to feel anything.

Actually I think most people understand the judicial system and I think everyone is outraged and upset over the fact that someone who is clearly guilty of murdering an innocent child is getting away with it, and are upset about that. And should be.

She was found legally not guilty and that's the end of it but the outrage is totally deserved.

Agree about the prosecution's mistake - and I think a lot of people feel that was the mistake and thus are upset with the system and how it worked out for Casey. To me, that makes sense.

It seems to me that the prosecutors were relying on public outrage to make their case for them. They didn't present real proof, just a lot of suspicious behavior.

Do I think she did it? Absolutely. But belief isn't proof, and unfortunately, belief is all the prosecution gave to the jurors.

Poor tot, at least she's away from the mess that was her mother.

I think this is what I was trying to say, yes.

I feel sorry for the grandparents as well. If anyone has a right to be upset, it's definitely them.

I agree with everything Mikester and ts2 have said.

Some of you thinking this is remotely humorous (the verdict), makes me sick to my stomach. That poor child. This bitch sucks, karma is a bitch.
