We have the forum so people know who everyone is and can have their say. We don't make unsubstanciated claims then hide behind a faceless keypad. Also we don't slag people off - and as anyone who knows us will testify I've held back, where one or two are concerned they would have desperately deserved it but I've never pointed the finger.I try to keep the site a positive as possible and I don't allow personal issues to enter into my dealings with the pub or this site. Quite what this ''kicking off'' was I'm at a loss. We have never had the Police to the pub and never had any trouble of any note. Any disagreements have been delt with in house. At the Glassbarrel the two things we wont tolerate are drugs and violence on the premises. Other than that we want people to have fun. These are the same rules Venetia lived by. I'm not telling any lies and she would not be offended by saying V didn't take any shit from anyone. We have always credited that without V there wouldn't have been The Barrel as we know it to carry on. And as for slagging her off you're talking shite. We were customers of The Barrel for quite some time before Venetia decided to quit. We didn't want to lose the pub (as a rock pub) and fought long and hard to take over and carry on. We are not ''lucky to have the pub'' We have as they say ''Put our Money where our mouth is''. We're not rich, and we never will be in this business. We do it because we love the music . We have invested a lot of time and money in the pub ( I still have a day job to support the pub) . Where else can you get free entertainment in the area - and let me tell you it is bloody expensive to lay on. Not only do we have to pay the bands, we also have to pay The Performing Rights Society, Entertainments Licence, Public Liability Insurance just for a start. Maybee Darren if it was so fucking easy you'd be running the pub!!!! Perhaps you should read your own post '' no need to slag anyone off not nice'' We work bloody hard to provide a fun trouble free environment where like minded people can watch quality entertainment. If you don't want to partake, then thats your choice but dont slag us off for doing what no one else was prepaired to do - take the Pub on!

Any tiny bit of trouble has usually been a domestic or caused by one, and it has never kicked off!! Try going to Tyldesley on a Fri night and see it kick off. We were the only people who were serious about taking on the pub and if he doesn't like us he can go to the Moses Gate and pay Ł10 to get in. We can't sit and talk to everyone who comes in especially on a band night but we try to be friendly and welcoming as possible to everyone. If someone did ''kick off'' they would deservedly be barred. We work bloody hard - day and night job to save the place and we don't need people undermining it with careless talk about ''Kicking Off'' Rockers and bikers have a hard enough time with people's misguided perceptions as all being blood crazed axe murderers and child stealers - without seeing this sort of propaganda on the site. The public's perception off Rock pubs is that they're all rough when the opposite is true. Theres less trouble in these type of places than in the trendy town pubs. As you can tell Darren has slightly pissed me off, but I've had my say now and I'm not going to comment on it again. The majority of the Glass Barrel regulars know the truth!!!

Pub Stranger Posts: 1 Group: Members Member #64 Joined: April 30, 2005	hi it venetia here didnt know u had site but i not sure what is goin on i see my name mentioned a lot all i can say is to the tosspot in tyldesley i run that pub for 5 yrs nearly and i sold it to john and as far i can see he keepin it going he at least givin all u muppets round here a biker pub to carry on goin in . ok some of u hated me a few liked me but who cares i got ur money and that all that mattered. as i can see that summit has been said i see the shit stirrers are still goin in just to say to any of u if u think i give a shit about any of u talkin bout me or callin me well i dont for god sakes look at ur own lives thing is when runnin a pub u never really have real friends only assosiates and i can name my true friends on one hand so all stop ur silly gobs from wagglin cause i really dont care and i dont think john does either he a good bloke and doin u all a favour by keepin runnin the barrel u should thank him as always i have wished them the best of luck according to some ive slagged many off but we know it lies and the person doin it knows it lies but well like i said look at ur own empty dull lives all av a good one life that is cause mine is real good

Frequent Visitor Posts: 38 Group: Members Member #20 Joined: January 17, 2005	Interesting. I'm not really qualified to comment on the specifics as I'm not a regular as such at the GB, but .... ... As a band member in many bands over the years, I've played tons of venues since the early '80s (that's the 1980s) ... absolutely tons... and I've NEVER seen trouble kicking off in true rock pubs and biker clubs. Seen plenty in the trendy lagerbars and clubs though. Always with so called "ordinary" people. Keep on rocking GBpeople!
