Yeah, I just saw this story on Headline News today. The father said that their normal cell phone bill is around $250 or $350 per month for the whole family, so he was surprised that AT&T did't contact him when his bill was nearing $1,000. I don't blame him, credit card companies do similar things when odd charges start getting racked up, but I guess cell phone companies are pretty unscrupulous when it comes to that. Yes, I'm so glad I use prepaid! |

* I'm glad I use Pre-Paid also. * I can afford a regular cell phone plan if I want and get any phone I desire... * However, I dont use a cell phone that much that I need a regular plan....so it would be a waste of money for me. * Thats why I use Pre-Paid. (but would love to have the "Contract Phones"!) (lol).. If you smelllllllll....what the Turk!....is....cookin' PS: Sweeper...one of my brothers is a huge Jerry Reed fan, he has alot of his CD's....I liked him as an actor (especially on the Smokey and the Bandit movies) and liked some of his music also. |

It's D-I-S-gusting that no spending limits are set on accounts for international data, especially residential account where people just can't afford to pay such a ridiculous amount for their service. Heck, I thought it was disgusting when my aunt got a $250 cellular bill or two from then-Cingular (she's now with Alltel and most of her calls are "my circle" minutes) due to getting absolutely violated by overage charges. I don't go anywhere near my minute allotment per month (I use my phone mostly for data and text) but if I did go over I'm relatively safe; my plan (Fair & Flexible) gives me 30 minutes at a time for $5 at a time, unless I go WAY over and it just charges extra minutes at 20c apiece. Prepaid phones are admittedly cheaper for voice calling at this point but at least I'm not being done injustice by way of hefty overages. My cellular bill has actually gone down of late it seems...I may need to call or chat with Sprint to add back my phone insurance. Guess my phone went wacko a few too many times (hey, not my fault that smartphone quality control is subpar) and my $7 for insurance just wasn't cutting it. So at the moment my billis less than $40 a month, and insternational dialing is turned off so no profit center for Sprint there. Also, data is only a few cents per kilobyte while roaming as far as I know, and I just wouldn't use my phone for that sorta thing if I did get into Canada (which I won't be doing any time soon I don't think). I heard that the people in question were using an aircard for data...aren't those supposed to be CHEAPER for this sort of thing than, say, a regular cell phone? Nevermind, cell phone companies tend to have neither morals nor brains. |

Responding to Sweeper's sig -- Fairwell, Jerry. He played in Fremont, MI many years ago. My mother and sister were staying temporarily in the same hotel that he did (in the process of moving). He introduced himself to them and BOUGHT THEM A PIZZA! He must have talked to them for over an hour, chowing down on that pizza with them. Jerry was by far the nicest celeb you could ever talk to. |
