This is my favourite Psalm. I have often meditated on it many times over the years.
It is a Psalm of Provision and Care and Protection. The Lord is the GOOD Shepherd who truly looks after his sheep. We are his sheep and if anyone of us goes astray our Lord goes off looking for us and brings us back to his flock. We are protected by his Rod/Staff from preditors. We are blessed so much our cup cannot contain the blessings of our Lord. Our enemies look on as we are hosted by the Lord, sat at his table being fed and satisfied. Surely the Lord's goodness follows us every day of our lives here on Earth and we will then have the priveledge of spending Eternity with this Good Shepherd our Lord & Saviour, Our God. There is more to this Psalm than what I have covered here briefly. May the Holy Spirit reveal it to you as he has to me over the years. God is looking over you each day and he is there with you no matter what trial you may be encountering right now. Look to the Lord and know He is there with you each day of your life here on Earth. Soon we will all be with Him in Heaven. Rejoice in the Lord for He is Good and His love endures forever, Amen. |

It definitely is. One insight I gained is that in the description of "the valley", while it is on the mountaintops that we see the farthest and that in the valleys the shadows are deepest, it is also in those valleys that have the grass and nourishment the sheep need to grow and thrive. it is also there where the brooks of water flow. The mountaintops, though majestic and breathtaking, are often barren and rocky. They have little in the way of sustenance. Just a thought or two I wanted to share...
