I have come across a good Biblically based teaching on the ways in which God speaks to Believers. There are places I have gone where the emphasis for how to hear from God is on one particular way over another and they have engaged in certain practices that have themselves to being abused (easy for false Christians or Teachers/Preachers to manipulate others with their messages). The most reliable communication we have from God is the Written Word. It should be our standard against which to check other sources of hearing from God. As did the Bereans when the Apostle Paul came to them with his teachings. AC 17:10 As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. However this is not the case in all Christian Churches and Fellowships. This article helps to establish how we can be sure of the messages we are hearing or reading are truly from the Lord. Here is the link to the teaching. Hearing and Recognizing God's Voice. Here is an excerpt from the teaching. A series of questions to ask about the message your are hearing from the Lord (through various ways spoken of in the Bible).
The full teaching article is worth a read. |

Excellent teaching!!! I have heard this in a different form from a different source, but the principles are the same and it WORKS. God will not only never contradict His word, but He will never contradict the God that we meet in scripture. His character never changes; this is why He is the ROCK of our Salvation. |
