my great grandma fell and shattered her pelvis on monday (and broke her arm in 2 places)... b/c she got tangled in her walker.. of all things... they didn't expect her to make it out of the ER, let alone live through the night... or the next night... and we were in the process of getting everything set up for her to move back to her house with 24-7 hospice care until she passed away (her wish was to go in her sleep at home & that's what we were trying to do) but she passed away right around noon this afternoon; while we were setting up the hospital bed that had been delivered & they were about to send her in an ambulance.

That's where I've been... she was unresponsive from the first time I got to the ER until the end... she briefly was in and out while my mom was there though; but there was nothing they could do for her pelvis... it was just obliterated. there was a fragment that had obstructed and damaged her urethra, so a catheter wasn't even an option... it was pretty tragic... and probably too many details for you all... but none-the-less... she's in a better place and the funeral is on saturday. i'll be back after that... and now that i'm not at the hospital or my grandma's i'll be on and off for the rest of the week. we've got some catching up to do with our business though... and i've got to find something to wear... jeans wouldn't work... she'd roll in her grave.

so, cheers to the woman who was born Jan 20th of 1914, who graduated with her masters from university of houston. she taught english for 35 years starting at age 19 & was married once for 51 years before he passed away well over 10 years ago... when she first learned how to drive a car and got her liscense in her late 70s.. he had always driven her around... she was one strong woman, lived through the depression, and defied the odds even through the last 3 days she was alive ;) Here's to you, Mom.

(not my mom, but we all called her Mom... she was my 95 year old great grandma :) )

It has taken longer than I originally anticipated! We took a week off from work and have been playing catch-up the past couple weeks. I *think* I just got the last load of books, plants and furniture from my great grandma's old house... my grandma and I have spent almost every day sorting through everything and moving things. It has been exhausting. !! to say the least. Expect me back in action starting Mondayish... I'm going nutso around here and need some good H!L time. Also-- my msngr has been down... it's being funky. I dropped my computer and cracked the top of it (the back of my screen; it's a laptop) so, it may find itself replaced pretty soon. It is in fragile condition.
--good thing I backed all my stuff up! hehe.
