Is it going really slow at times?
You could have some programs running in your background, try and check that by pressing ctrl+alt+del(win xp) and go to the 'process' tab, check if there is anything suspicious there that shouldnt be there.
Also try and clear your cookies on internet explorer....
If that doesnt help then i would advise you re-install all your internet drivers or completly re-install Windows. Or alternitevely, try System Restore(Accesories > System Tools > System Restore) pick a past date where your internet was working fine and press ok, and wait for it to complete & restart.
You could also wait for the technician that the ISP promised would come! ;p

^I was gonna say the same thing. Make sure you run the spyware checks first. Spyware can be very dangerous and can cause crashes and slowdowns (Ive had it happen). System Restore could also help as well. Im guessing there is nothing wrong with the connection itself: its probably just spyware/a virus/background programs that shouldnt be running.

erm...

I did that system restore thing, cleared cookies, and also punched my modem. It seems to be working fine, hopefully will stay that way. Ty DK and DE :)

EDIT: Checked ctrl+alt+del, there's a "Inactive system process" that has 99 under the tab CPU. Is it normal? Shall I end the process?

It probably says "System Idle Process" like mine does on XP. Yes, it is normal. That number will always be very high since it is the summation of the activity that is not being used by programs and stuff. Like mines is around 80-94 right now.

Um, i dont think you can get spyware without browsing through the net. Unless ofcourse you install alot of 3rd party software, alot of them have hidden spyware/trojans.

Exactly...but be careful, one time I hadnt been able to surf the net at college and I still found spyware. Like I said, its good just to do the scans each week. Its not bad.
