Jaimie stepped into the Three Broomsticks and quickly ordered a soda from the bar. While she waited, she took a chance to glance around, looking for someone. It was early, she was always early for appointments, so she took her soda from the bartender and took it to a table in the back, far from the other patrons in the place. Playing with the straw in the drink, she took the alone time to think about what she was going to say.

She had just graduated her final year at Hogwarts two weeks prior. It was an exciting time for her as well as her classmates, but many had already gone their separate ways...and today it was her turn. She had been offered an auror training internship -- in America. And even though two weeks ago she thought that she and Bram would be together forever, get married, have children, an grow old...right at this moment it felt right to 'take a break'. Bram didn't even know about the internship, even though she got accepted into the program months ago. She figured she wasn't going to tell him until she figured everything out. It was going to be hard, to do this, but Jaimie figured that if she and Bram could make it through a two-year break, then they could be together when she got back. Hopefully Bram thinks about it the same way... She took another sip of her drink and looked towards the door, waiting.

OOC: Ugh, so sorry. I can't think of anything else to say. Promise the next one will be better.

Bram Kael

A pair of small bells rang as he opened the door and a sweet smell of tea and flowers hit his nostrils. A few years ago, before Bram had met Jaimie, he would never have thought of setting his foot inside this couples trap and when he first started dating her, he certainly hadn't thought he would be spending every single Hogsmeade break here. But love has a strange way of transforming people, Bram being no exception of course.
He quickly looked around the establishment and it didn't take him long to spot a the back Jaimie's long and blonde curls. A smile quickly grew on his lips and he walked over to her, as quietly as he could.

"Hey there, you waiting for someone?" Bram said jokingly as he reached her, putting a hand on her shoulder "...Sure would be a shame if you were. Someone like you shouldn't have to wait for anyone" he added with a grin, bowing down, placing a light kiss on her lips.

"Now, this is what I don't get..." Bram said as he pulled back, taking a seat next to her "... We have both graduated right? So how come we are meeting here and not some swanky cafe in London where a cup of coffee costs a small farm? I feel like spending money today"

Jaimie was absent-mindedly playing with her straw when Bram came up behind her, and jumped in her seat a little, startled from her thoughts. She shook her head with a small smile on her lips as he joked with her. "Yes, I am waiting for someone, but I don't know when he will arrive..will you sit with me 'til then?" Jaimie teased, taking the kiss he gave her gratefully.

"It seemed like a good place..." Jaimie said, shrugging. "like a farewell to this part of our lives." Apparently, I'm going to be deep today. She turned a little in her seat to face him.

It did not surprise her that Bram 'felt like spending money today'. He had a habit of attempting to spoil her. Not purposely, of course, because Bram had been born into an extremely well-off family so it was easy for him to buy what he pleased.

Jaimie knew she'd have to bring up the real reason she'd asked Bram to meet her here at some point, but for the moment elected to rest a hand on Bram's knee and lean over to kiss his cheek.

Bram Kael

The last couple of weeks leading up to graduation, had been rather strange. On one hand, he was rather excited to be moving on from school, to be let into the real world as an adult. He wanted to travel, to see the world, try as many different things as he possibly could before the day came when he would have to take his place within the family business. And he wanted to do so with no one else than Jaimie.

On the other hand, he knew Jaimie well enough to know that she was planning ahead on her own, setting things in motion for her own future. She had been a little more introverted and serious the last couple of weeks of school than before, and while doubtlessly part of it was because of the exams, there seemed to be something else underneath. It became especially apparent these last couple of weeks following the exams when her behaviour had actually intensified rather than retract. Something was definitly up, but as much as Bram wanted to, he wasnt going to try and pry it out of her. She would open up when she thought it was right to do so.

"like a farewell to this part of our lives."

"Ahh... I understand, Well, with every farewell there come an hello to something new, right?" he said, a warm smile spreading across is face. As she kissed him, he gently put an arm around her should, not saying a thing, just enjoying the now.

Jaimie shifted rather uncomfortably in her seat, pulling away from the arm that was around her shoulders. "Well, actually," she said gingerly, turning sideways in the chair so that she would be facing Bram, "that's kind of why I asked you to meet me." She reached to put her hands on top of Bram's, a sure sign that what she was about to say was extremely serious.

She slid her feet in and out of her sandals, trying desperately to figure out a way to make it sound as if she hadn't kept the internship from Bram. Looking down at her feet, Jaimie struggled with her thoughts for a moment before she spoke to the floor. "I, um, I got offered an internship beginning of last term," she started, knowing Bram would be excited for her about this part of the news. She swallowed back the rest of her nerves and looked up at his face, cheeks pink.

Jaimie was feeling pretty guilty at this point, as she thought of how much Bram had been planning for their graduation. He hid nothing from her, and before Christmas Jaimie was just as open about her desire to join him, traversing the world, carefree...but as soon as she'd gotten the offer it was apparent that Bram's plans weren't realistic enough for her. Time to grow up. Become an adult. The thought seemed to give her a little more strength to continue speaking to Bram.

"It's a two year auror training program," Jaimie took a deep breath, looking into Bram's brilliant green eyes, "in America."

Bram Kael

Bram couldn't believe what he was hearing. She was going away for two years and she had known she would for this long, without ever telling him? He rubbed his head, trying to find a thought or emotion to hold onto, to push the initial confusion away.

Putting his hand down again, he looked Jaimie in the eyes, trying to find some kind of answer inside her deep blue eyes. Before long, he could feel himself calming down some, if only enough to straighten his thoughts out some. He could tell by her expression that having to tell him this was hurting her too, but at the same time there was determination in there. He could already tell now, just how much she wanted this, that there was no getting around it.

"You are leaving? But what about us?" Bram's tone wasn't one of anger but rather one that spoke of confusion. He could now feel a certain amount of hurt welling up inside him

Bram's confusion and hurt were what really tore at Jaimie the most. I should have told him sooner, why on earth did I do this to myself and him? She frowned deeply, and looked back down at her glass, unable to continue to look Bram in the eyes without the feeling that she might cry. He had to know that she was hurt, too, he knew Jaimie better than even herself sometimes. That meant that he also knew how much she wanted to do this, how important this internship would be to her career. She put both hands into her blonde curls, frustrated and sad.

"You are leaving? But what about us?"

Jaimie closed her eyes and spoke down at the table, "I thought maybe, just with this and I know how much you want to travel...I thought that this might be the perfect opportunity for us to take a break for now." She paused for only a moment, afraid that Bram might start freaking out if she stopped talking for too long. "I mean, it'll give us both a chance to learn to live on our own, and, I guess if we make it through it we'll know we can get through anything really..." she blurted out, trailing off at the end. She was obviously nervous and scared, and Jaimie didn't dare pick her head up to look at Bram now.

Bram sat silently for a while, trying to sort things out. Yes, it hurt a lot to hear Jaimie was leaving and that she wanted a break from their relationship. However, deep within he knew she wasn't completely off in saying what she did. For the last 4 some years, they had been an item, not more than a few weeks at a time had they been appart. Maybe, just maybe it would be healthy for not just them as individuals, but as a couple to do this, to get some new life experiences. Or maybe he was just trying to convince himself of that, if only to make the parting less painful for the both of them.

Finally, he let out a sigh and looked and Jaimie

"Look... I don't know what the future holds, what will happen with any of us between now and then. But I know you, I know how talented you are. If this venue has opened for you, I wouldn't want you to miss it for the world" As he said it, he put an arm around her "We can always write each other, right? Encourage each other to do as good as we can?"

Jaimie was immensely relieved. Of course she was still upset by the whole ordeal, and regretting not telling Bram sooner, but she was thankful that Bram didn't completely flip out. She picked her head up to look at him, a small sad smile on her mouth. She quietly watched him as he thought, and took the moment to think about the situation herself. A break from their relationship would indeed be healthy. Jaimie would be back as soon as she finished the internship requirements, and they could resume where they left off. If we really miss each other, Bram could always come visit...

As Bram wrapped his arm back around her shoulders, Jaimie leaned her head on his shoulder. "I'll write every week. And...it means a lot to me that you understand. Thank you."
