Looking for this, Ms. Baptiste?

It was almost as though she knew he was behind her before he even spoke. In a second he'd grabbed the book down for her, and spun her around, an arm wrapped about her waist. Inhaling in a loud gasp as he twirled her body around, holding the book above her head, she looked up at Casimir.

How embarrassing.

Flushing, Marissa stepped away from Cas's closeness, wondering if she should just tell him to forget about the book and leave. Looking into his face, however, she got a weird tingly feeling in her stomach, remembering their on-off summer relationship. No, fling was a much better word for it. She particularly remembered a party they'd gone to, a few months into the fling, where they both got drunk and made out on someone's lawn. Shuddering, she shrugged, resolving to be polite to Casimir. "Actually, yes. Thank you for getting it for me." But she knew he wasn't that stupid. He wasn't going to just give the damn book to her.

Fancy seeing you here...My how you've changed.

Marissa didn't, couldn't move as he stepped towards her. His presence was intoxicating, and Marissa was slipping back to the beginning of the summer, before she got pregnant, before all of this stress. Blinking silently up at Cas, she breathed, "People change, Cas." She felt silly infront of him, like she was an incompetent child. Biting her lip, she quickly stepped away again, widening the space between them before she did something stupid.

"Actually, yes. Thank you for getting it for me."

"Not so fast love." Cas raised the book high above his head. "You think I'm just going to give it to you? Just like that?" Cas really didn't know what he was doing. It was as if all of a sudden he had had a change of heart. It was as if he had forgotten Asteria...at least, that was how it looked. But on the inside, his mind was still reeling, and honestly, he would do just about anything to get his mind off of her.

"People change, Cas."

Cas snorted. "Yeah. Just like flowers change, right? They grow, they're pretty, they die, but then they grow again." Cass stepped forward again as Marissa stepped backward. They were nearing the shelf now. "You'll always go back to your old ways. Eventually. So why wait? We had such a good time." This was a game for Cas. Marissa and him...they had been a casual thing. Right now, her presence, her being right there in the library after his argument...it was all useful. They had both been useful to eachother.

He remembered the instance when they had ended up making out on someone's lawn. He was sure that thought was running through Marissa's mind. And what about the time they had been to one of those giant bon fires in the middle of nowhere? They had ended up making out there too. They always ended up making out.

Maybe they would here? Would it be so bad? Would it be so terrible to relive those "golden" days? Cas didn't care. He dropped the book on the floor. "Oops." He wasn't serious though. He just stepped on it, his foot holding it in place in case Marissa would want to pick it up.

"Have you missed me?"

Not so fast love. You think I'm just going to give it to you? Just like that?

"Honestly? No, I didn't. Whatever was I thinking?" Her voice hinted at sarcasm. She raised an eyebrow at him as they stared at eachother for a few silent moments. What have you gotten yourself into this time?

Yeah. Just like flowers change, right? They grow, they're pretty, they die, but then they grow again.

Because I have a family now. But Marissa couldn't bring herself to tell Cas that, that she'd given birth to an illegitimate child, that she was practically engaged. Flushing, she looked down at her feet, biting her lip. What to do, what to do... She looked back up at him, smirking. "Are you insinuating that I got ugly, Casimir?"

You'll always go back to your old ways. Eventually. So why wait? We had such a good time.

They did have such a good time. Under normal circumstances, Marissa would have simply just walked away from such a situation, but Casimir's presence merely pulled her closer, especially since he kept getting closer every time she tried to draw some space in between them. Running a hand through her hair to buy time to think, Marissa stepped backwards once again, tripping over her own feet. She stumbled, but recovered, her back now against the shelf. "W-well," she started, stumbling over her words like she did her feet, "yes, we did have a good t-time. But I'm trying this n-new thing, Casimir." She took a breath and seemed to stand up taller, hoping this would get her out of the library before something happened that would ruin her relationship with Connor, "See, this new thing, it's not being a complete slut with guys I never really got to know. So no, I'm not going back to my old ways."

Oops.

He was being absolutely infuriating. But he looks so good doing it... Marissa couldn't believe she was thinking these things as she looked down at his foot holding the book down to the floor so she couldn't get at it. Blinking, she looked back up at Cas, raising an eyebrow at him.

Have you missed me?

Honestly, no. I actually forgot you existed for a while. "Sure, Cas," she said sarcastically, stepping sideways to try to get away from his closeness again. "I've been crying myself to sleep because I couldn't see you."

"Are you insinuating that I got ugly, Casimir?"

"Oh, no! Quite the opposite actually. I think," his voice lowered to a whisper, "you're very very pretty. You always have been. But flowers tend to disappear during the winter. I suppose that's what you did." Cas smirked as he leaned closer, watching the distress in Marissa's eyes. She had always been like that, worrying around him. As if he were going to cause some great natural disaster.

"W-well, yes, we did have a good t-time. But I'm trying this n-new thing, Casimir. See, this new thing, it's not being a complete slut with guys I never really got to know. So no, I'm not going back to my old ways."

"Hmm. A new thing? Really? And why do you sound like you don't believe it yourself? Is it because you've jsut realize it will never work? Not with me around?" He was teasing her. And awefully too. "Besides, I'm not just some guy. You got to know me. And I got to know you." More like your lips. Cas wasn't sure what was coming over him. But he was in such a foul mood, that he had decided anything was better than brooding about his disaster a couple minutes ago.

Actually, come to think of it, they had always been together whenever something didn't work out for them. They had been like...comfort buddies or something. Something in their lives sucked and then they got together. So, it was only simple for Cas to go back to the good 'ole days. It was like a habit.

"Sure, Cas, I've been crying myself to sleep because I couldn't see you."

The way Marissa had said that...it reminded him of Asteria. That was not good. It reminded him of her sarcastic yet biting tone. What was he going to do with himself? Everything reminded him of fucking Asteria! It was getting on his nerves.

Marissa attempted to sidestep her way out, but Cas put a hand out to stop her. She wasn't going to get away from him. They had just "met".
"That's good to hear. At least someone cares about me around here, right?" That almost sounded bitter actually. Bitter and sad. Why was he such a pathetic excuse for a guy?

She was starting to crack beneath his pressure. Now practically pinned against the bookshelf, Marissa bit her lip harder, now drawing blood. She flushed when he called her pretty, looking down at her shoes. You need to get out of here, before something happens...

Hmm. A new thing? Really? And why do you sound like you don't believe it yourself? Is it because you've jsut realize it will never work? Not with me around?

Well, that sounds about right. "I believe myself just fine, Casimir," she said, trying to look as though she meant it. She hated his teasing, especially now when she felt so insecure. Still flushing, she took a deep breath before daring to look up at him.

Besides, I'm not just some guy. You got to know me. And I got to know you.

Marissa sighed, wondering if there was any hope for getting out of this situation at this point. Maybe, if I just play along for a little while, he'll get lost. "Well," she started, trying to look seductive, "not nearly as much as I would have liked, you know." She stepped closer now, placing a tentative hand on his chest. I am going to Hell.

That's good to hear. At least someone cares about me around here, right?

Wow. Marissa cocked her head, wondering why suddenly he sounded so sad. Raising a brow, she had half a mind to ask him what was wrong. They didn't have that kind of relationship, though, she reminded herself. Talking wouldn't make Casimir feel better; having a 'good time' would, however. Now you're just trying to make him feel better. That's not wrong, is it? Taking another step towards, him, she placed her other hand on his chest as she stood on her toes. She placed a light kiss on his cheek, smiling at him.

"I believe myself just fine, Casimir,"

"Are you sure about that Missy?" Casimir had always called Marissa "Missy". It just stuck with him, and sometimes he had a hard time not referring to her as Missy. She never really cared though...at least, from what Cas could tell. "Because that look you just had says otherwise." He was trying to provoke her, trying to make her realize that she needed her "comfort" buddy again.

"Well, not nearly as much as I would have liked, you know."

"Oh?" Cas raised a brow, "really now? That is something I didn't expect." He laughed as she placed a hand on his chest. "Now that's what I'm talking about. It took you long enough to warm up to the idea of me," he joked sarcastically. See? It hadn't taken Marissa that long to realize she still needed him, and he needed her.

It was stupid to try and pull something like this off. After all, everyone would hear about it. How Cas made out with a girl in the library. This was news, because Cas preferred to...not kiss plenty of different girls. As much as he would love to, he still had a sense of dignity about him.

But Marissa and Cas had a history. A history of making out. And Cas needed it right now. More than ever. He needed to take his mind off of a certain girl who had made his heart ache. Yes, his heart could actually ache. And it felt quite uncomfortable in his chest.

The chest on which Marissa placed another hand. She was then standing on her tip toes, kissing him on the cheek. Cas bent down lower so that Marissa could reach. "Now Missy. That's dangerous you know." Cas brought his mouth close to Marissa's ear. "Things could spiral out of control. They could become disastrous, or they can become....quite pleasant." Was he using Marissa? Probably. Did it matter? Not to him.

Are you sure about that Missy? Because that look you just had says otherwise.

Marissa blushed, knowing very well that Cas had caught her in a lie. She also was blushing because he'd called her by his own personal nickname. He was the only person she'd ever allow to call her that, and she'd actually quite forgotten about it. How could you forget, that's all he ever called you!

Now that's what I'm talking about. It took you long enough to warm up to the idea of me.

She bit her lip, an obvious bad habit, as she looked innocently up at Cas. It wasn't a good thing, that she'd 'warmed up' to Casimir. The little voice that was her conscience was screaming, No, Marissa, no! You have commitments at home, a baby! And what if Connor asks you to marry him? Sighing, Marissa turned her gaze away from Casimir, thinking about her relationship with Connor. A wave of frustration came over her, the first time in a week or so since she'd had a major mood swing. Feeling angry, she thought, He's probably just dying to ditch me and take Cole to his parent's house. I'm not good enough for any more than a one-night-stand, so why should I be faithful?

Now Missy. That's dangerous you know. Things could spiral out of control. The

She felt quite sick and tired of not being able to be enough than a little 17-year-old slut to Connor's family. Sick and tired of being a teenage mother, sick and tired of having to be committed to one person at such a young age. Sighing, she finally looked back up at Casimir, smiling as she stepped closer, their bodies now touching. "Let's not let them happen here, then," she whispered seductively, "let's go somewhere more private."

"Let's not let them happen here, then, let's go somewhere more private."

Cas smirked when Marissa stepped forward. See? She hadn't forgotten. And she hadn't changed. Here they were, ready to be young and wild again. "Why bother? Here is just fine, Missy. Unless you have someplace else in mind?" Cas brought his hand up to her cheek. Why not do it here? It wasn't like many people would see them. And if someone did...well...Let them tell that prat. See how she likes it.

Cas didn;t know why the thoughts were so bitter. Asteria had spoken her mind, just like many other girls...except. Asteria spoke hers in a different way. Girls normally wanted to sleep with him, have his babies, marry him, etc. Asteria? She wanted nothing to do with him. It was probably for the better. After all, if Asteria had his babies...they'd be quite stubborn and odd...

Why was Cas even thinking about babies with Asteria??
No babies. No babies allowed. No thinking about Asteria in such a way.
This thought only made Cas want to picture Asteria naked even more. Merlin! What was wrong with his male mind? Seriously?

Cas looked down at Marissa and smiled before placing a furious kiss on her lips. Marissa's lips. Not Asteria's.

It seemed to Marissa that Cas wanted someone to see them. Looking at him curiously, she nibbled at her bottom lip, a sign that she felt insecure. She certainly didn’t want anyone to see her snogging Casimir, especially when there were people who knew about Connor, few though those people might be. She closed her eyes and leaned her cheek into Cas’s hand, which felt warm and inviting. “Let’s go somewhere,” she pleaded softly, running her tongue across her lips. “Let’s go to the room of requirement, it’s much more private there,” she whispered, opening her eyes to look up at Cas, hoping he might go with her request.

Marissa knew that this wasn’t a good idea. She had a life to go back to, it wasn’t as though she were wild and single still. Well, maybe she was still wild. But she wasn’t single. You have a baby to take care of, Marissa. You have Connor to go back to, you don’t need this. Something made her feel as though she did need it, though.

And when Cas’s lips collided hazardously with hers, there was something that made Marissa feel as though Cas was something special and could give her something that Connor certainly couldn’t: the feeling of being young again. With Cas, Marissa wasn’t a mother, she didn’t have responsibilities, and she could keep her secrets without feeling guilty about it. So, there was nothing left for Marissa to do but kiss Casimir back, forgetting all about her responsibilities and everything that she had to go back to tomorrow.

“Let’s go somewhere, Let’s go to the room of requirement, it’s much more private there,”

"Hmm," Cas murmured as he watched Marissa lick her lips. "Well, interesting things happen in the room of requirement. Very, very...interesting things." Cas didn't know why, but he was trying to convince Marissa to stay in the library. To make out. He had a bad feeling that wherever Marissa had been the past year or whatever it'd been was going to push them a little over their boundaries if they went off to the room of requirements. He didn't want to do something stupid. Something he'd regret?

Cas gave out a happy groan when Marissa decided to return the kiss. Letting things heat up, Cas pulled Marissa's body closer, trying to close whatever distance they had left between each other. One hand rested at the base of her neck, and another slowly roamed down her back, playing at the hem if her shirt.

But for some reason, he couldn't get his mind off of Asteria. She had been so angry. So furious. He couldn't tell whether it was just because she'd bruised his ego, or if it was something else. Either way, Asteria's face kept popping up into his mind, even with his eyes closed. He wanted to really enjoy this. To really have some fun for once and not get bogged down with stupid girls and feelings.

As Cas tried to kiss Marissa with more passion, he felt guilt wallowing in his throat. His stomach tied into a knot, as if with some realization, Asteria would know that this was happening. That she would see past any lies he'd attempt to tell her if he ever talked to her again.

Unhappily, Cas dropped his hands and pulled away from the kiss. Merdre!. "I'm sorry. Sorry Missy. But I can't. I can't do this. Not..." Not now? Not today? Not ever? Was Cas really changing? He used to never care! He used to party and make out all of the time! He used to be so...selfish. Now he was turning into something else. Something with a conscience! Oh how he wanted to go bang his head against the wall!

"Go home Marissa. Go back to whatever you've left. I know there's something you left. Something you care about. And I? I need to fix some things. Save some souls...well...mine. I need to save my soul...I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry. But I think....I think I've changed..." Cas shrugged, giving Marissa a small attempt at a reassuring smile. He gave her a swift kiss on the cheek and then ran a hand through his hair. "I hope that whatever you have, you love. Bye Missy."

Without further ado, Cas disappeared from amongst the shelves and ran off to the bathrooms where he could splash some really cold water on his face for being such a stupid and confused person. Why the hell had he just turned down an opportunity he would not have normally hesitated to take? What was wrong with him? What was going on?

With a frown on her face, Sam stepped into the library. She had lain up all night after her little encounter with Erica Winters. God, she was still annoyed by her. This year, Samantha had become a little less prone to flaring up and she'd thought she would've gotten a bit more used to that vampire by now, but it was no luck. If anything's, Sam hated her even more now - especially because of that little note she made her pass on to her father.

Of course, that very same evening, Samantha had gone to her Dad's office and let him know about what had happened. As expected, he hadn't seemed too surprised about it. Thanks to Xavier, they already knew Erica was alive and kicking so it was only a matter of time before she showed up again. But both of them were taking this seriously; whether their final fight with Voldemort would come soon or not and whether they would at last put an end to him and the Death Eaters or not, Sam and her father would keep their guard up.

But now, Sam had to think about it something entirely different: her N.E.W.T.'s. The sun flooded the library with piercing light through it's large, stained glass windows, obscuring the features of the many students sitting here, quietly; the place was filled and yet it was more silent than usual. The reason was obvious. Most of the people here were either fifth or seventh-years like Sam. It was almost time and while she was fully confident in her knowledge and abilities, she couldn't afford to screw this up. In fact, if possible, she'd like to impress her examinators: no matter what she may have done throughout this Third War, the standards to become an Auror were certainly not lax. And Sam wanted to give a good impression.

Finally, she found an empty table in a darker corner of the library and sat down, hoping that her tutor wouldn't have any trouble finding her. As Head Girl, Sam had heard some things about Bailey Carwyn, but she was also seriously skilled with potions. While Sam didn't have any trouble with the subject, it wasn't her best and if she wanted to get an 'Outstanding' on her N.E.W.T., then she was going to need some help.

Usually during her academic part of the year Bailey never gave much thought about being a full out swot, she wasn't like Aspen who could pass through her exams with little difficulty but she wasn't about to be one who would sit around for hours staring at her books and denying herself every other part of her life. That was usually why she wasn't exactly a regular at the library. If given the choice of going to her dorm with a hot body or ging to the library to pore over books to impress some up themselves moderators for her exams she would much rather be in her dorm right now. Only problem was that her usual bodies were all busy doing the study thing. Well not all. Her favourite body, her goddess....Nicole was in Rome at the moment probably partying it up with her besties and the local hotties. Luck for some.

Sure she knew she should feel just a little bit jealous but she and Nicole weren't exactly serious...and aside from that kissing session in the bathroom nothing else had happened. They had exchanged a few owls and notes before she left for Rome, mostly filled with flirtatious suggestions and promises of meeting up after the exams were over. She just hopd they could both live up to their ends of the deal.

So why had she let herself be dragged to the Library on a saturday? Maybe it was because she hadn't exactly been given a chance in the matter. A prefect she has been scheduled to have detention with had given her a note from the head girl herself about her next few bouts of detentions being cut as long as she helped her study for her Potions exam and in exchange she'd try and help her with everything else. She should probably be grateful she could maybe up her marks a bit but she wasn't sure it was worth it. Regardless she had let Nevada drag her out of bed so she was on time and shoved all her notes, books etc into her bag.
She had got dressed in her usual get up of black corset, tight jeans and her hair in a silvery trail down her back with a hair tie sitting amongst her various bracelets. After shoving her feet into her shoes she ran all the way from the dungeons to the library.

She crashed into a fair few people, her gaze moving over a few curvy figures as she tried to find Miss Head girl and gather a few useful study guides from the tables she was passing. She finally caught sight of her in one of Bailey's favourite corners of the library. Wow the girl had taste. Bailey pushed her books and bag on to the table, pasting an apologetic yet flirtatious smile on her face as she looked Sam over. She had never exactly seen Miss Moody up close, though she had heard more than her fair share of her antics, including her slight hate relationship with a girl in her own house and her genius when it came to the dark arts that many said could have been passed on through her family. Personally Bailey had done well in Professor Moody's class but she had dropped it after her fifth year.

"Sorry I'm late Ma'am....I only got your note about the time last night before my date." Bailey said, her welsh accent tinting her voice as she pulled out her potions books from her bag. Though as she was doing so her gaze moved over Ms. Moody's figure. Well well.....what do we have here? Who knew the Head girl could be such a looker?

"Sorry I'm late Ma'am....I only got your note about the time last night before my date."

The sound of approaching footsteps made Sam look up from the books, parchment and quill she had just taken out of her schoolbag. "That's okay. I only got here myself just now," she said with a smile, but that was before she had taken a proper look at Bailey. Oh, my. Given her reputation, Samantha had thought she might be a pleasure to look at, but seeing the real thing was a lot better than she could've guessed. Her figure, the hair, her style... Or maybe it was just the way that Bailey smiled at her just now that had caught Sam's eye?

Stop. Hold that thought. Samantha prevented her mind from going the whole nine yards. Why was she thinking about that stuff now! She was here to study and the only thing that mattered about Bailey now was if she was really as good with potions as everyone said! It was only then that Sam noticed she'd still been looking at her and quickly averted her eyes; it had lasted just a bit too long to be normal and Bailey had undoubtedly noticed.

"So shall we get started?" Sam added quickly and then turned back to her potions book, trying to put her attention back where it belonged. 'Trying' being the keyword in that sentence. By the time she'd opened it and was skimming through the pages her mind was elsewhere again. That little awkward moment had been the latest of Sam's now considerably sized list of stupidity in anything... 'relationshippy'. It wasn't like she was an idiot on that front, but whenever there was someone she truly liked or felt attraction for, it became apparent that Samantha was ill adepted for it.

First it was Natelynn whom Sam never dared tell what she really thought out of fear that it would make their friendship weird to her. Then there was Luke, the only guy she'd ever truly felt something for, but that had gone nowhere. Kyra, well... Despite not seeing each other very regularly, she had a habit of creeping into Sam's thoughts in ways that made Sam grateful that Legilimency wasn't a subject at Hogwarts. And now this.

It seemed that Miss Moody wasn't as strict as many a person would be lead t believe. That had to be a good thing right? Especially since she was't lecturing her about being late like Aspen would or any of her other study crazy friends. She pushed her smile towards more flirtatious than professional as Sam smiled and assured her she wasn't late. Huh. Though she could definitely feel a pair of emerald green eyes looking her over in a way that she had seen, let alone done, many a time before. But it was a little hard for Bailey to believe that Sam.....Miss Head girl and daughter of the infamous Cael Moody was gay. Nah it was probably just a trick of the light or her mind playing tricks on her. Maybe she was just missing Nicole so much that the sight of a rather hot head girl was enough to make her think such things.

"That's okay. I only got here myself just now,"

"Well at least you weren't waiting too long, I wouldn't want to have more detentions piling up due to my lateness." Bailey said brushing her hair out her face, trying to seem oblivious to the attention she was getting. Even if Miss Moody was gay that didn't mean she was her type, they were pretty much night and day to the other and if she made a move even discreetly there was a good chance she could be pushed back into her place and given another detentio for her trouble. Still she was here to....for the first time in her life.....study. She should in the least make it seem like she was actually interested in doing just that. Still if she wasn't gay she would have torn her gaze away a little bit earlier hmmmm.

"So shall we get started?"

"Sure what exactly do you wanted to do? Like did you want help memorising the atributes of the key ingredients of the potions we were learning or....maybe you want to key in on certain potions that you think you need to improve on?" asked Bailey, sliding her hair tie over the jungle of bracelets so it rested over the back of her hand. She gathered her hair up in a random bun and tied it up before turning to look at Sam as her hands automatically sorted through her notes and opened her books at the right pages. When it came to Potions it was all business for the blonde, sure she would still get distracted by a pretty face [and hell there was a lot of those around today] but she could keep herself focused a lot longer with potions than any other subject. Probably why she was so good at it.
Yet there was her flirtatious side that was curious enough to see how much she could push Sam to admit who she really was..let alone doing something she normally wouldn't. She was curious as to Sam's history...she'd heard the whole thing with her and a friend of Dayla Shiel's and that was pretty much it. Yet she wasn't going to pry....or she was going to try not to. Though still her mischievious side was always in play....she wouldn't be a Carwyn if that wasn't the case.

"Well at least you weren't waiting too long, I wouldn't want to have more detentions piling up due to my lateness."

"Mhmmm... So you better be a good girl now, or it might still come to that. Or worse," Samantha joked, grinning slightly. The words were out of her mouth before she knew it. "No, Sam, stick with the right subject." She thought to herself and once again redirected her attention to her potions book, rather than dwell on the idea of Bailey 'misbehaving'. She continued skimming the pages.

Let's see, where was it... She was certain that they were going to get something on Memory Potions... But that one was pretty tough to brew and, ironically, Samantha always had trouble remembering the instructions and the ingredients. She never got past the Jobberknoll feathers. Ah, there it was.

"Sure what exactly do you wanted to do? Like did you want help memorising the atributes of the key ingredients of the potions we were learning or....maybe you want to key in on certain potions that you think you need to improve on?"

"The latter. There are a couple potions that are giving me a hard time. Memory Potions, for starters. I'm having trouble getting those instructions right, and I keep forgetting the ingredients," Samantha replied. As her hand reached for her quill, it nearly brushed past Bailey's. And yet again, a brief thought sparked in Sam's mind, wondering what her life would look like if she was more at ease with her preferences and that kind of stuff.

Sam couldn't help it. Her eyes briefly glanced at Bailey again. Ugh, why was she thinking about that stuff now! She had exams, she was going to graduate from Hogwarts soon and - something occurred to her. Maybe she was regretting not living her life any differently? Thinking about missed opportunities? In a few months, she would still leave this place behind and like it or not, life as an Auror-in-training was going to be different... Maybe Samantha just wanted to do something, really have someone, if only for a short while. Wait, back to potions.
