Food and friends. What better combination could there be?

Wind me up, spin me 'round,
Oh, lookie what I found
Boots and boys
They bring me so much joy
I gotta say it, wear 'em both so pretty as I walk in the city
Watch out boots and boys

Some of the students situated at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall briefly fell silent as one of their own entered through it's large doors. A young man with dark green eyes and a solemn expression on his pale face, hands in the pockets of his robes. He appeared not to be paying any attention to them, even as he stepped closer to their table; he moved slowly but steady, as if he minded every single step he took.

Finally, the young man stopped and simply stared. A first-year seemed to have made a mistake... He was sitting in the seat that he'd made his own since he first arrived this year. The first-year looked like he was about to say something, but his friends took note and muttered something to him. A moment later and the boy stood up. He and his friends soon took some distance from the older student, gossiping about him amongst themselves.

Ezequiel didn't mind them. As the first-years continued talking, he picked up a few words about him; about 'that creepy guy' and all the rumours, most of which were false. But he didn't care. He merely sat down in 'his' seat and took a book out of his bag. 'Advanced Potion Making' by Libatius Borage. It was meant for sixth-year students, but Ezequiel had quite a skill with elixirs, though he remained quite humble about it himself.

Brushing a strand of black hair out of his eyes, Ezequiel flipped open the pages and started reading, seemingly oblivious to everything around him...

Cas had come in for some food. It took energy to be obnoxious. Maybe not everyone knew that. But Cas sure did. He often liked to stock up on food, stuffing all kinds of things into the pockets of his robes and mouth. Cas had a black hole in his stomach. He would eat anything! (except for crawling things that were alive. ugh.)

So when he had walked over to the Gryffindor table, he stocked up and then sat down with a few of his classmates for a while. They really didn't mind his company. Especially since he always got in trouble. They liked that and he didn't mind. So really, it was a win-win situation, and Cas was known as the school rebel.

Now, Gryffindors were supposed to behave and all that, but, well, he just couldn't. That took too much energy, and if he tried, he might as well not go to any of his classes because he would be too busy eating all day!

Cas easily got bored. Everyone knew that. One minute he was chatting, the next minute he was throwing food when the professors weren't watching. Maybe he had ADD? No one really knew for sure, but he bet some people speculated. He smirked to himself as he charmed a cup into cannoning apples over to the Slytherin table. He was aiming for those annoying first years. You know, the ones with the wierd chubby faces that belonged in kindergarten?

It was Cas' luck though, that he managed to hit someone much older. Someone around his age maybe? And he really didn't hit the boy. Just his book. And the apple splattered all over. That wasn't good. The boy looked like he actually liked the book. Oops? He didn't need Slytherins running after him.

Cas stood up with a sheepish grin and walked over to the boy and picked up the remaining pieces of the apple off of the books pages. "Heh. Mi scusi, sorry mate. Wasn't aiming at you," Cas attempted to laugh it off.

"Mierda..." Ezequiel muttered a moment after something had landed on his table. More specifically, right on the first few pages of his copy of 'Advanced Potion Making'. His expression remained as untroubled as ever, even as he tried to clean it. While he may appeared to be emotionless, he couldn't deny he was irritated. This book wasn't his own; El had borrowed it from the library. And he had noticed how... strong the librarian's reaction was to damage to any of the books she kept. And that was something Ezequiel was not in the mood for dealing with. Especially when he wasn't responsible for said damage in the first place.

His dark green eyes looked up and immediately found the perpetrator. A guy about his age, perhaps slightly older, had stood up from the Gryffindor table and made his way over to his. Apparently, he'd used magic on a cup and let it launch the apples over here. How... Unsightly and vexatious. Out of all the kinds of people he had met, Ezequiel found that this was the kind he'd least understood; such blatant disregard for rules only for such an immature kind of fun... As the guy drew closer, with that stupid grin on his face, El determined that he fit perfectly into that category of people.

Mala suerte.

"Heh. Mi scusi, sorry mate. Wasn't aiming at you."

"Technically, you shouldn't be aiming at anything, as I'm sure you're aware," Ezequiel said, though grateful that he was at least trying to apologise. After the pieces of the apple had been removed, El drew his wand. Considering the rumours that everyone spread behind his back, some might've thought he was going to hex the young man, but instead, he pointed it at the Potions book. "Tergeo," El stated and with the simple bit of magic managed to clean up the rest reasonably well. It would have to do...

El then put his wand away and looked directly at his newest acquaintance. "What's your name?" He asked, making it a point to remember it. So he could avoid him.

Wow. What a stiff. This guy was obviously in love with the rules. If there was a rule book somewhere (which he bet there was) this was the guy who would make out with it secretly under his covers at night. Ugh. Cas didn't like do-gooders. Nuh-uh. They were annoying, and always stuffed the rules in your face and the fact that they've never ever broken a goddamn rule!

When he pulled out his wand, Cas didn't even flinch. He had been hexed so many times before. He should have had scars to prove it. But he was a wizard after all. Why not use your magical powers to make scars disappear? Why not use magic to...clean your stupid book? This kid was anal!

Bite me.

"Ça ne fait rien." It doesn't matter. The rules never mattered. Hah. Beat that you stupid twit.

"What's your name?"

"Casimir Dragomeru. But everyone just calls me Cas." Or Cassandra . That thought never left his head. Every single time he introduced himself, he thought of how Rebecca and Nicole had ruined his life...multiple times. And now he was stuck secretly calling himself Cassandra....HE WAS NOT GAY!

"And you would be?" Cas noticed the first years watching him and the boy. They were gossiping amongst themselves. Ah. He was that one. "Oh right. You're that Zeke guy that no one really likes. Cool."

"No estoy de acuerdo." Ezequiel disagreed. Rules did matter. Which he supposed was rather ironic, coming from him, seeing as he was in Slytherin; the house most infamous for breaking rules. And this guy seemed to be in Gryffindor, yet he was exactly the opposite. Interesting... Either that Sorting Hat was defective or it took it's wearer's choice more into account than El had previously thought. Of course, there was also the off-chance that this troublemaker lived up to the founder's other qualities. Courage... Nobility...

To Ezequiel, the odds of that seemed rather small, so he decided to settle on the idea of the Hat being defective.

"Casimir Dragomeru. But everyone just calls me Cas. And you would be? Oh right. You're that Zeke guy that no one really likes. Cool."

Hmmm? At the sound of his name, El tilted his head slightly, rather curious now. So this was Casimir Dragomeru... And it seemed that no introduction was required on his part, though he would've preferred to be called by his full name by the likes of him. "Correct. Ezequiel Quintana. Slytherin, fifth-year," he stated, ignoring Casimir's equitable assessment of his popularity. El tried not to mind it, but still found it annoying to be talked about behind his back. If other students didn't want to talk to him, that was fine, but leave it at that.

"So you're Casimir Dragomeru. I've heard of you aswell... Aren't you the one that's been put into detention all the time? Causing trouble with those two girls?" He didn't know them, except that one of them was actually a Prefect. Because if he was the very same, then Ezequiel could tell that they would definitely not be getting along... Not that that possibility had seemed likely from the start.

Cas raised a brow. Finally, someone around here knew more than English! He had thought he was like some special rare specimen or something. Did people not want to know more than one language? Well, Zeke obviously did. "Ah, Español. Now where did you learn that?" He was probably of Spanish origin. Or better yet, he probably lived there. Which wasn't so bad. Cas had been to Spain several times, but he felt it was way too hot. Hot was bad. Hot caused sweat and smelly. He didn't like sweat and smelly.

"Correct. Ezequiel Quintana. Slytherin, fifth-year,"

Well the name sure sounded Spanish. Interesting. Did he really have to explain the Slytherin part? Cas wasn't stupid. They were at the Slytherin table after all. It was then that he realized he was a Gryffindor sitting at the Slytherin table. That didn't really bother him. Truthfully, he didn't care about the House separation. But he saw other Slytherins giving him looks. Great. Sooner or later he would be shooed off the table. Maybe he could put up a fight? No. The Professors would be on the Slytherins' side. He was at their table of course.

"So you're Casimir Dragomeru. I've heard of you aswell... Aren't you the one that's been put into detention all the time? Causing trouble with those two girls?"

"Yes Zeke. Detention is quite nice actually. You should try it sometime. The only moments of serenity I can get. And those two girls have names. Rebecca and Nicole." Merlin, the more he thought about it, the more Cas sounded like he was gay. He was surrounded by girls, and his notorious best friends were girls. He made himself a mental note to find a friend his gender. Maybe Zeke would do?

"I grew up in Spain, though I've been to many countries. I've picked up quite a few other languages on the way. I spent my first four years of magical education at Beauxbatons," Ezequiel explained to Casimir, slightly surprised that he was still carrying on a decent conversation with him. He seemed obnoxious, but not a complete moron like some others at Hogwarts.

And his question, in return, made El wonder about Casimir's origins. His first name was undoubtedly Slavic, but Dragomeru... He supposed it was most likely something Eastern-European, but Ezequiel hadn't heard it before. 'Cas' also seemed to speak French. It was rare for him to actually show interest in other people, but once El's curiousity was peaked, he would really like to know. "What about you? Or have you been attending Hogwarts all this time?" Ezequiel asked, his dark green eyes fixed on Casimir's.

"Yes Zeke. Detention is quite nice actually. You should try it sometime. The only moments of serenity I can get. And those two girls have names. Rebecca and Nicole."

"Forgive me, but I'll pass," El said, still wondering how the minds of these kinds of people worked. Detention seemed like a dull experience, as it was intended to be. But he could imagine that for someone as 'energetic' as Casimir, it might be the only way to get himself to be more quiet.

"I'm assuming said girls have last names aswell?" Ezequiel added, not particularly caring, but, well... He liked being a smart-ass.

"I grew up in Spain, though I've been to many countries. I've picked up quite a few other languages on the way. I spent my first four years of magical education at Beauxbatons,"

Oh wow. Beauxbatons. Dammit! Was it possible that this kid knew him from there? Honestly, Cas didn't remember Zeke's face, but there was a good chance he had hexed him or something at Beauxbatons. After all, the events of his fifth year there were what made the headmaster throw him out. Cas almost smiled at the thought of the rejection letter. It was a first, and it was an honor. Of course, Zeke here didn't need to know that he was proud of his mischief. He probably assumed it anyway.

Though I've been to many countries, Cas mocked in his head. Yeah, that was cool. Probably first class traveling too. He wished that some people knew how hard it was to go from Venice to Vienna on horseback. Pretty hard. This Zeke probably used magical means to get wherever he wanted. Poor soul. He was missing out on the joys of being lost.

"What about you? Or have you been attending Hogwarts all this time?"

Cas wondered if there was a point in telling Zeke anything. Why did he have to know about his education? Then again, Cas had asked. "Non. For starters, I never attended most of my first year. Spent most of it in Italy. I came in late. Beauxbatons. Only cos my Aunt lived in Provence. It was that, or be taken away to Durmstrang." Cas wrinkled his nose at that thought. "Got enrolled in Astucieux." Cas restrained a laugh. He had always found it amusing how they had placed him into such a "smart" house. He never thought he was stupid, but surely they regretted the fact that they didn't place him with the Moyen Tourelle?

"Came here this year."

"I'm assuming said girls have last names aswell?"

Cas nearly glared as he caught on to Zeke's attempt at humiliating him. Brat. "Si. Moody and Parker. Wonderful girls." Maybe I should sick 'em on you. That'd be fun.

Not even someone as emotionless as Ezequiel could hide his surprise. Not only had they attended the same school, but Casimir had been in Astucieux? He seemed like perfect Moyen material to El, but perhaps he'd underestimated his smarts. And they'd gone to Hogwarts around the same time too. "What a coincidence. I was in Meilleur myself," he said. It was the house of the elite. Though, to be quite honest, he couldn't stand a lot of people there. Many of them were just too arrogant to El's liking. Even if you were, supposedly, the best, there was no reason to boast of it so often.

"Si. Moody and Parker. Wonderful girls."

Ezequiel couldn't help but be a little pleased that his jab had been somewhat effective. It was all over's Casimir's face. Still, now that he knew, he went over his comrades's names... Rebecca Moody and Nicole Parker. The Moody's El had heard of, but not the other one. Well, given how much time he was spending time talking with Cas, it wouldn't surprise him if he'd got to meet them one day. The truth was, Ezequiel was being unusually talkative.

A fact that some of the other Slytherin students had picked up on. Some were giving Casimir and him unusual glances. Perhaps some had thought that El couldn't talk or something. Ezequiel tried not to pay attention and brought his attention back to the Gryffindor before him. There was one more thing he was wondering about.

"I suppose you three have quite a lot of fun together... But aren't you worried you'll be expelled from this place aswell, just like from Beauxbatons?" Ezequiel asked shrewdly. Casimir hadn't stated why he'd come here, but knowing that he was constantly up to misschief, he decided to test his theory by checking Cas's reaction.

That was the kind of game he liked to play with people. It was undoubtedly a reason that prevented others from befriending Ezequiel.

"What a coincidence. I was in Meilleur myself

Ah, so he was a prat. Meilleur had been full of those snobby prats that liked to show off their blood and riches. Oddly enough, Cas found himself hoping that Zeke was an exception. After all, even though he was slightly…stuck up, he could be quite a lot of fun. Or not. It all depended on how Cas played it and how well Zeke would get along. But maybe he’d take this Zeke on an adventure to show him what life should really be like…far from what it seemed Zeke was used to.

"I suppose you three have quite a lot of fun together... But aren't you worried you'll be expelled from this place aswell, just like from Beauxbatons?"

Cas shrugged without complaint. “Really, we do have fun. That’s all that really counts. And Professor Flitwick is a very gracious little man. He actually seems to have an understanding towards me. Expulsion is a last resort for him. And it’s not like I’m turning his castle into a pink fluffy animal or something. It’s just a little fun here and there.” There was, also, the fact that he was related to Tallen, who recently did put quite a lot of money into the school. Schools needed funding, and schools remained loyal to their funders. Tallen could easily keep Cas safe, if he wanted to. Cas would have to beg and plead though, before Tallen would help him out in such a way.

Thinking of Tallen reminded him of how Tallen had been training Cas to become a poised and respectful individual. It was quite hilarious actually, thinking that Cas could be “proper”. Cas looked at Zeke and contemplated his manners. Zeke seemed to be proper. Maybe if he somehow tricked him into “becoming” Cas for a couple days? Nah. He’d never go with it. And then Zeke would probably kill him. Forget it.

“So Zeke. What do you do for fun? Please don’t tell me you’re one of those studious types that doesn’t know what fun actually means.” Cas picked up the book to look at its cover. Seriously. This kid needed help. Fun therapy. Relaxants. Hallucinogens. Hmm.

Ezequiel remained curious about Casimir. How interesting... He hadn't really shown a reaction. Either he'd been too oblivious to really notice or he'd simply decided to be honest... Although he didn't exactly confirm nor deny being expelled from Beauxbatons. Still, his views on the matter were quite fascinating. "I'm sure some teachers would disagree with your assessment. But I admit that it all comes down to the Headmaster's judgment," El conceided.

Although... He wouldn't put it past Casimir to turn Hogwarts Castle into a pink fluffy animal, if he could do it.

“So Zeke. What do you do for fun? Please don’t tell me you’re one of those studious types that doesn’t know what fun actually means.”

Zeke... Ezequiel didn't quite like the nickname, but if Cas wanted to call him thus, so be it. He supposed it wasn't too bad if it was spelled 'Zeque'. But that was irrelevant to the topic that the Gryffindor now inquired about. "While I put a lot of time and energy into my studies, I do pursue other matters, contrary to what some in my house may believe," he said. "I often explore the grounds... I read a lot and I play Quidditch rather well, though I haven't joined my house team yet."

Wow. Did he really care that much? What, did he want Cas outta Hogwarts or something? Cas suspected something else. He was snooping, that's what. This Zeke wanted infromation, and the best way to do such a thing would be to listen to Cas rattle on nonsensically. Perfect.

"Yes. Flitwick seems to have taken a liking to me. Although, that liking has little to do with his punishments. The toilets are a lot cleaner lately, thanks to a certain someone." That wasn't something to be proud of, but Cas didn't mind. Zeke wanted to know, he got to know!

Explore the grounds? What the hell was there to explore? This dude needed a life. Cas' eyes lit up a bit at the mention of Quidditch. "Ok, Now that I can understand. Quidditch is the best sport. I usually play seeker. Only because it gives me the opportunity to have fun and work."

Why was he talking? This Zeke looked like a spoilsport. Why was he bothering? What could Cas potentially gain, except for an enemy? Well...there was the possiblity of a friend. A small chance. Tiny itty bitty chance. He could try, right?

"Yes. Flitwick seems to have taken a liking to me. Although, that liking has little to do with his punishments. The toilets are a lot cleaner lately, thanks to a certain someone."

"I'll keep that in mind," Ezequiel remarked sarcastically. Really, he didn't think he could get anything particularly interesting out of Casimir like this, so he decided to leave it from now on. He may be smarter than El had expected of a guy charming cups into firing apples, but learning about all the chores Cas had to do as punishment for his rebellious actions was not exactly something thought-provoking.

Just then, it struck Ezequiel again how long he was talking to him. His eyes shifted briefly towards his Potion book and he put it back inside his school bag. Something told him he was not going to get any more reading done. It would have to wait once he was done with classes and he was back in the Slytherin Common Room...

"Ok, Now that I can understand. Quidditch is the best sport. I usually play seeker. Only because it gives me the opportunity to have fun and work."

Casimir hadn't seem too interested at his mention of exploring the grounds, something that Ezequiel couldn't entirely understand. While he didn't enjoy the climate too much, especially in winter, the scenery of this part of Britain did have it's own charm. El enjoyed long walks by himself. Although it might be nice to have company once in a while. But now the subject had turned to Quidditch.

"Another thing we have in common, it seems," Ezequiel said in regards to Casimir's preferred position. "I play either Seeker or Keeper, though I'm better as Seeker. It seems a little contradictory for a team sport like Quidditch, but I'm better at working on my own. My favorite team are the Murciélagos Valencianos."

This Zeke was an interesting fellow. He didn't seem like someone who would talk much, and yet he was chatting away with Cas. Better yet, he seemed snobby but decent. How Zeke managed to act a little human was interesting.

"Another thing we have in common, it seems, I play either Seeker or Keeper, though I'm better as Seeker. It seems a little contradictory for a team sport like Quidditch, but I'm better at working on my own. My favorite team are the Murciélagos Valencianos."

Ah. A topic where Zeke wouldn't shut up. Well, who would. Everyone loved Quidditch. Ok, maybe not everyone. But practically everyone. It was like a drug. Except safe...safer...safe-ish...Ah. So this kid was a Seeker as well? Well, Cas never signed up for Gryffindor's team. But why should he? They already had a perfectly good seeker. Maybe he could be a chaser, but really, he saw little chance of him surviving. Multi-tasking between bludgers and dodging and catching. Cas never was the multi-tasker type.

Cas had to admit, he'd never heard of the team Zeke mentioned. Actually, he rarely remembered names anyways.
"I don't have a preferred team. I see things I like in multiple teams. That and I love to be able to pick who I cheer for." Cas smiled. "I'm bipolar." Obviously, Cas was joking. He was perfectly healthy in the mind, contrary to what Becky and Nikki said.

"Other than Quidditch. Do you have real fun? I mean real fun. Adventures and the like. Not exploring the grounds mind you, but some fun like I do? Or are you just boring?"
