Relatively quiet, relatively private. There are trees and benches and stuff. It's like magic or something!!

Oh, lookie what I found
Boots and boys
They bring me so much joy
I gotta say it, wear 'em both so pretty as I walk in the city
Watch out boots and boys

Nicole hopped down the stone halls of the castle and into the courtyard. She was still bouncy and hyper although she had a funny feeling that if she didn't stop soon her friends were going to kill her. Was it so bad to be happy for once? She gave herself a little shrug as she sat down on one of the cold stone benches. Oh great now her butt was cold. Mentally rolling her eyes, she took out her wand, and pointed it at the bench. Soon the cold stone warmed up and it felt like she was sitting on a heater. It wasn't so hot it burnt her butt. It was just right. And people said she was useless with a wand. She put her wand back and looked around.

The courtyard was silent and empty today which suited her just fine. She didn't want to hang out with loud annoying students anyway. It was kind of amazing how the only people worth hanging out with were her friends and everyone else was just boring. She wondered what people said about her. Then again maybe she didn't want to know. She sighed as she thought about her friends. Cas was probably in detention right now or asleep somewhere because he had stayed up all night partying (and she would know as she had been partying with him). Becky was off somewhere doing prefect duties (which really meant getting people randomly in trouble) and she had no idea where Dayla was. The thought of Dayla made her wide grin turn into a frown. God she really missed her.

Nicole had not spoken to or even seen Dayla since the party. God that stupid party that ruined everything. Nicole should have known that going there had been a mistake. Scratch that. She had known but she ignored that stupid voice in her head. Nicole had just wanted to be around Dayla and be cool-for once in her life. She hadn't meant to ruin their friendship like that. Nicole personally blamed the jager. If she hadn't been so effing drunk she would never have kissed Dayla! But a voice told her that even without the jager she still would have kissed the Gryffindor. God stupid hormones! Why did she have to be so horny? Why did Dayla have to be so pretty? Why did Nicole have to be gay?

Nicole just sighed and turned so her legs were now on the top of the bench. She drew her knees close to her chin and rested her head. God why did she have to be such a screw up?

OOC: Sorry that it's crap.

Being back on the castle grounds seemed to pale in comparison to all that had been happening while Dayla was in London. Especially in regards to Shane who despite telling her he would be a temporary professor at Hogwarts in her last year hadn't actually turned up. Something about last minute assignments at Beauxbatons...hmmm.
But while in London, though she had seen the good she had also had to put up with the bad admittedly. Her Mother had caught her sneaking back in after another party with Shane and wasn't impressed. She'd 'made her' baby sit Sabrina the few days that had followed while she was at work but if anything that hadn't had the effect that her mother had possibly anticiplated. Especially since Shane loved kids. Still the two of them sneaking around was bordering on tiresome and her thoughts often wavered to Tallen in the middle of the night when Shane was sleeping beside her. Their last meeting kept coming back to haunt her.

It wasn't that they had argued that bothered her, in honesty from the very beginning their relationship had bothered her but at the same time, up until what she deemed the 'sam' incident, things had been well.... awkward. Before he'd left he'd made the effort to know her which ok you expect, but then just disappearing.....reappearing and it was like they tried to pick up where they left off when they had both changed so much. So why was she still hung up on him? Was it because of the atmosphere that had surrounded them those first few times they were together? Or was it just that she craved his kiss and the knowledge that despite how much he tried to deny it there was something between them. They could try and stamp it out with other relationships and bitter words but it was stil there practically nagging at them to stop being such idiots. And to her that was what they were. Idiots. One for letting it happen in the first place and two for Tallen to not realise he had a good thing in front of him. Wow did that sound overly confident. Still it didn't stop her missing him.

That day nothing good had happened to the redhead. A lecture from her dear stepfather before breakfast, couldn't he have at least let her digest something before his lecture of how 'she worries her mother with her behaviour', Then a whole pile of homework for her troubles which she normally wouldn't do but since it was NEWTs year she had to at least make the effort and then to top it off the weather was awful and she hadn't remembered to grab her robes. No wonder the professors were giving her disapproving looks. Or it could just be her overly short skirt. One or the other. But as Dayla tried to cut through the courtyard without getting frost bite she froze when she spotted Nicole sat on one of the benchs.

Things had been awkward between her and her only Hogwarts 'gal pal' since the party and what had happened at that party. Yet subconciously she had found herself pushing her way out of Nicole's path at every opportunity she got. Then again She'd kind of done the same with Cas since his behaviour at the party and Tristan but Tristan seemed to be a man of his own now he was seeing one of Shane's friends. He probably spent less time at the castle than she did, it was a wonder his adopted father didn't notice. But with Nicole it was just awkward. With Tristan and Cas she would expect the behaviour, hell if Nicole had gone all the way with her friend she would have been fine with that too but Nicole kissing her out of the blue....was a bit much even for her and her association with gay males.
The redhead bit her lip trying to find a path for her to take so she could get out the situation without having to talk to Nicole. It wasn't that they weren't still friends, more a case of what do you say in that situation? Still if Nicole screamed bloody murder at her for her reaction it would probably just be another part of a bad day. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

For as long as Nicole lived she would always ask herself why, WHY did she have to kiss Dayla of all people? Why couldn't she have kissed Monique? That would have been okay, especially since Monique had been trying to get into her pants all night. Why couldn't she have gone with the woman who actually wanted her? But no, she had to go after the one straight woman in that party. God she was such an idiot. Still could anyone blame her? Everyone had been so warm and welcoming at the party, especially Dayla. Everyone was kissing everyone and people were all over each other. Nicole just got caught up in the jager, the love, and Dayla's hotness. Nicole always knew that Dayla was hot. She noticed the moment she laid eyes on the redhead. She thought she would have been able to control herself but she was obviously wrong. God she had been so dumb to drink that much alcohol. She should have known what that much alcohol would have done to her. Why, God, WHY?!

But the thing that hurt the most was the look on Dayla's face after the kiss. The absolute surprised missed with a bit of...well horror was the best way to describe it. But could anyone blame her? It wasn't every day that one of her friends decided to kiss her. It wasn't a little peck either. It was a nice long, tongue filled kiss. The thought made Nicole want to bash her head into a brick wall somewhere. Why couldn't Dayla just shrug it off and they could laugh about it? Why did it have to turn into this heartbreaking mess? Why, why, why?!

Nicole sighed as a biting window blew through the courtyard. Damn she really needed her winter coat. She was still cold even with the warm bench underneath her butt. She wasn't sure if it was the weather or what she was thinking about, but she was really cold. She might as well go inside. She had no reason to stay out here especially since if it was only going to get her depressed. Maybe she could find Becky or Cas to bother. She slowly uncurled and rose from the bench. She was about to go inside when she caught a glimpse of the person who was causing her so much pain-Dayla.

God she was as beautiful as ever and that short skirt of hers caused dirty thoughts to flash through her mind. She ignored those thoughts. That was how she got into this mess in the first place. She watched Dayla practically run down a path furthest away from her and it hurt. Did Dayla really want nothing to do with her? Was the redhead really disgusted by who Nicole was? The thought caused tears to swell in her eyes. Nicole doubted she could handle that. No, she was being dumb. Dayla wasn't like that...was she? God why couldn't they just deal with this? Why did they have to keep avoiding the elephant in the room? A part of Nicole wanted to talk to Dayla and get everything out in the open but at the same time she didn't want to know what Dayla really thought of her. But she couldn't stand this anymore. Nicole raced towards the Gryffindor and shouted "Dayla, wait! Please."

When the party had first got started Dayla could remember the way that Nicole and Monique had been getting close which was no real surprise. When Monique wants someone she will do everything to make sure that she gets them, yet sh ealso had a slight feeling that Nicole had been distracted. Surely the wway she had acted in the bathrom should have been a big giveaway. But no, the redhead had been downing Jager and trying to make sure Tristan didn't flirt with her boyfriend instead of Nathan. Maybe if she had she would have released and stopped things before they got any further. But she had been the only straight girl there, even the girls that Cas had flirted and hooked up with were Bi. It was all one big mess. Sure everyone had been welcoming and touchy feelie but that was just the way things were. Sure it had made her awkward at first but she had easily got used to it. But the knowledge that someone of the same sex that wasn't a close friend teasing her, found her attractive was unnerving. Was there a reason she had been holding out? Why hadn't she just admit it from the beginning? Did she really think she was some kind of anti-gay freak? Because she wasn't, she supported everyone no matter who they loved but stil the thought of her in a relationship like that wasn't something she'd ever considered. While she had probably seemed horrified and surprised when Nicole pulled it wasn't out of disgust. And if it had seemed like it then the Jager was definitely to blame. Especially since the kiss they had shared was something that only she and Shane would normally share.....or her and Tallen back in the days when it was still possible. She could have shrugged it off, she should have shrugged it off. But no, the kiss wasn't like the ones she and Monique shared when drunk....there had been meaning behind it and that was what had scared her the most.

When she spotted Nicole sitting on the bench she silently begged for which every god was around her to keep the brunette's attention fixatd on anyone but her. But it seemed like the timing was off. As she was just about to walk through the courtyard and wish she had an invisibility cloak her friend got up and spotted her. Shit. She felt Nicole's gaze move over her form and swallowed, knowing she shouldn't wear skirts so short when Shane wasn't around the bat off the competition. She quickly backtracked her path from the doorway and began the walk through the corridor, grabbing her hair with one hand and wrapping a hair tie around it to keep it in a bun and out her face. But that was when she heard the footsteps behind her and the sound of Nicole's voice calling after her. Normally she would have taken the heartless approach and kept walking, but this was her friend. Reluctantly she stopped in midstep to let Nicole catch up, trying to collect some words from the tip of her tongue so she could talk to her without freaking out.

Nicole would have been a fool to try and deny that she had feelings for Dayla. She had been a fool for trying to ignore them for so long. At first she just thought it was her natural hormones speaking-like they did whenever she was around Becky. But obviously Dayla had been different. She wasn't sure if it was because was a full-fledged woman and she knew it or because Dayla had been so refreshingly nice to her or the fact that Dayla had gorgeous legs, but Nicole found it hard not thinking about her in some nasty ways. Basically Nicole had a purely sexual crush on Dayla.

If that had been it Dayla may have been able to handle it. But no Nicole had to act out on her feelings and scare Dayla away. God she was such an idiot. The worst part of this whole mess wasn't that fact that Dayla was upset. No, Nicole would have been able to handle that (as it wouldn't be the first time a female freaked out on her because of her sexual preferences). No, what upset Nicole was the fact that Dayla had seemed to have done her best to stay away from her. Nicole would rather have Dayla scream at her and call her a freak than the silent treatment she was dealing with. At least with the shouting she'd be near Dayla again.

Nicole had to admit that she didn't expect Dayla to stop. She thought the Gryffindor would just keep walking because she obviously thought Nicole was a freak. Why else would she ignore her for so long? So when Dayla stopped and waited for her, Nicole was shocked. She slowed down her pace so she wouldn't collide with Dayla and stood next to her. Great, now what? Well at least they were facing each other. That had to count for something right? But what to say? What did one say after they kissed their friend of the opposite sex? She could be humorous and ask Dayla if she kissed better than Shane did, but from the awkward look on Dayla's face Nicole decided humor was not the way to go. But what then?

Nicole had been so eager to talk to Dayla that she didn't even bother to try and plan how the conversation would go. Nicole always thought that she could figure that part out when she got there. Well she was here and the best she could come up with was an inappropriate joke. She had been hanging out with Becky and Cas for far too long. But they couldn't just stand here. First it was weird, second it was annoying, and third if Nicole didn't say anything soon Dayla was probably going to walk off and there would still be this awkwardness between them.
"Um, hey," she said as she tried to give Dayla a grin, "Long time no see."
Oh yes that was a great way to start.
"Dayla, listen about the...well about the party," she said turning away so Dayla couldn't see how red her face was, "I didn't mean to...well I did. I mean...I didn't mean to scare you or anything. I just...well...damn it!"
Why was this so hard?
"Listen, I know it was stupid and I understand if you don't want anything to do with me," she said trying hard to ignore the pit in her stomach as she said those horrible words.

Denying that you had feelings for someone was never the way to go. Dayla knew that personally when she had first met Tallen and look where that had turned up. After Aries she hadn't expected that she would ever see the first guy who hooked her again and when she had it had been like fate was toying with her. Showing her something she wouldn't have and waving it back and forth until she couldn't take it anymore and grabbed it just to taste his kisses again. In fact after the first kiss with her and Tallen in the library she had never been able to find anyone who could top it, or maybe that wasn't what she was looking for. Yet sometimes she wondered if what she felt for Tallen was more than just the need to have his arms around her or lips on hers. Afteralll.....she had wanted Tallen to be her first.

Then again Dayla's feelings had always been screwed up when it came to people, whether it was boyfriends or friends of either sex. But she knew how Nicole felt about the prospect of them possibly never speaking again and that was one thing she couldn't handle. Nicole was one of the few people who kept her sane at hogwarts since Evan had graduated the year before. Before the party she could tell Nicole everything and she would understand. They cound hang around in each other's presence and not feel the need to force conversation. Nicole was the type of friend she wish she'd had around when Tallen dumped her, when the aries incident happened and she took in Sabrina. It would have made things so much simpler. In a way she was like her rock, kind of like Shane was and she wasn't sure she could deal with losing that connection with somebody.

"Um, hey, Long time no see. Dayla, listen about the...well about the party I didn't mean to...well I did. I mean...I didn't mean to scare you or anything. I just...well...damn it! Listen, I know it was stupid and I understand if you don't want anything to do with me,"

The whole time that Nicole was speaking, Dayla couldn't help but tilt her head at the nervousness in her voice. Sure it was understandable, afterall she seemeed to have a crush on her or something but she had never seen or heard Nicole so nervous before. Finally after letting a second of silence pass between them Dayla brushed some hair out of Nicole's face in a sisterly way and smiled.

"You're one of the best friends I've ever had Nicole, and I don't care what sexuality you have because that won't change my view of you seriously. I know I acted like a freak after it happened and I'm sorry but every time I've kissed a girl before I was drunk and it wasn't as deep as what we shared. I just scared me a little." the redhead said softly, hoping that Nicole would understand.

In her mind she was straight and could only imagine her being with a guy for the rest of her life *coughtallencough* but that didn't mean that she couldn't enjoy life and sometimes have a bit of both worlds.

"But I will say that you did look pretty hot that night, if I swung another way you wouldn't have been able to get me off you." Dayla joked with a wink.

All her life Nicole had been taught to hide her feelings. Because of the way her family was it was simply easier (and many times safer) to hide her emotions. It was easier to just laugh and shrug her shoulders every time something went wrong. It was easier to just grin and act like an airhead every time her father went out simply because she couldn't stop him from leaving. It was easier to ignore the fact that her father often come home at the weirdest hours and sometimes covered in blood. It was easier to hide her doubts and fears every time the ones she loved went out on a 'job'. And it was easier to tease 'Uncle' Eric and smirk at his harsh words than to break down and cry that he kept her so far away from him. And it was really easy to ignore her feelings for other girls than to face something like this. Emotions just complicated things and she was better off without them. That was why she was such a goof and that was why she preferred to rebel and just have fun. She only had a limited time on this earth and it was easier to just have fun and ignore all her feelings than to face them and risk getting hurt.

What she didn't understand was why she acted differently about Dayla. She had fun with Becky and Cas but she never let them see her cry or anything. They only saw her ditzy rebellious side. They never saw her fears or nerves or...love. They were just people to cause trouble with. But Dayla...well she was different. Nicole didn't know why but she felt that she could literally tell Dayla anyway. Dayla just had that...aura to her that nothing surprised her anymore and she was willing to be there no matter what. In some ways Nicole felt that Dayla would even understand her strain and strange relationship with 'Uncle' Eric and if they ever had a problem Dayla would be the person Nicole would go to to rant. Dayla would be the person who would see her tears and fears. Nicole was sure Dayla probably didn't want the job (as who wanted to be the person who got cried on all the time) but Nicole trusted her like no one she had ever trusted before-besides her own flesh and blood. She wasn't sure what Dayla had ever done to earn such trust...it just felt right.

Part of it was probably because Dayla was hot and Ncole had a huge crush on her. It was the same reason why 'Uncle' Eric trusted Morgan-she was hot and he couldn't resist her nice curvy body. But there had to be something more than that. Their relationship was too...strong and close to be simply physical. Was that true between Nicole and Dayla? Well obviously not because Morgan and 'Uncle' Eric both felt it while she was only one who felt anything in this relationship...

"You're one of the best friends I've ever had Nicole, and I don't care what sexuality you have because that won't change my view of you seriously. I know I acted like a freak after it happened and I'm sorry but every time I've kissed a girl before I was drunk and it wasn't as deep as what we shared. I just scared me a little."

When Nicole finished speaking she was sure Dayla was going to slap her and walk away without another word, so she kind of cringed waiting for the worst. But instead she felt Dayla brush some hair out of her face. Nicole looked at Dayla surprised when she said that she was her best friend. Her mouth literally dropped open and she stared at Dayla like she had never seen a woman before.
"R-R-Really?! I'm your best friend and you don't care about my sexuality?! You really don't care?! Oh, Dayla, thank you!" she said hugging her friend.
She stood there hugging Dayla for a few minutes before she realized that this probably awkward so she quickly let go.
"Sorry," she said sheepishly, "But...well I was worried you wouldn't like me anymore. You have no idea how many times I've lost friends because...well you know."
She nodded her head as Dayla explained how the kiss freaked her out.
"Oh I understand and I'm sorry. I was just so drunk that I didn't realize how you would feel. Well that and I really liked you."
She used the past tense because she didn't want Dayla to worry that this would happen again. Even though Nicole still found Dayla attractive she swore that she would never ever kiss her again-ever. She didn't want to go through this again.

"But I will say that you did look pretty hot that night, if I swung another way you wouldn't have been able to get me off you."

Nicole chuckled, glad that Dayla was making a joke out of it.
"Well you would have had to fight Monique over me. God she couldn't keep her hands off of me," she said with a 'guilty' grin.
After Dayla ran off Monique swooped right in and did her best to comfort Nicole. At first Nicole went along with it because she was drunk and hurt and she needed something to make her feel better. They didn't go all the way though because as Monique prepared for the best part Nicole let slip Dayla's name and Monique was slightly turned off. Apparently she only wanted to do it if she was on Nicole's mind and no one else. Oh well, all things considered Nicole was glad she didn't go all the way. She didn't want to be labeled as a whore and it would probably be more enjoyable if she did it with someone she really cared for.

Most people in Dayla's family were pretty open with their feelings aside from her mother of course. But all her siblings, cousins and Aunts/uncles were pretty open when it came to talking about the thoughts going through their head. Dayla had always been the same to a point but after a while she had become so overly opinionated that she knew her mouth was going to get her into trouble one way or another. No surprise. Stil since things with Aries and Tallen she had become more and more reserved. There was only a certan number of people she actualy told things to and even then it was only in tiny pieces, leaving them to piece it together themselves. It made it easer to hide when she was hurting with sarcasm but she knew that most people who really knew her would be able to see straight through it. Sure she cried but only Shane ever heard or saw her and his arms around her what would assure her that everything was ok. That she din't have to keep hiding and that he was one of the people who she could break down in front of and he wuldn't judge her. But still, Shane was the person she couldn't talk to about her feelings for Tallen being pinned into her insides against her will. Though she tried to forget and not talk about it....she knew sooner or later she would need to.

"R-R-Really?! I'm your best friend and you don't care about my sexuality?! You really don't care?! Oh, Dayla, thank you! Sorry, but...well I was worried you wouldn't like me anymore. You have no idea how many times I've lost friends because...well you know."

"You have nothing to be sorry for. Just because of what happened doesn't mean you can't hug me anymore." Dayla said with a smile, "But seriously Vast majority of my friends aren't straight Nikki and I'm not about to throw my friendships with them away just because they like to kiss people of the same sex as well as not to mention instead of the opposite sex. Anyone who stops being your friend because of your choice of partner was never really your friend to begin with. Just remember that."

"Oh I understand and I'm sorry. I was just so drunk that I didn't realize how you would feel. Well that and I really liked you."

"Really don't worry about it. I always do crazy things when I'm drunk anyway. You can't imagine the amount of times I've woke up in bed between both Monique and Shane. And even then half the time I can't remember what I've done. Sometimes it's better to forget about the drunkeness, it only holds you back." assured Dayla, brushing strands of loose hair out her eyes. But she couldn't help but grin when Nicole chuckled.

"Well you would have had to fight Monique over me. God she couldn't keep her hands off of me,"

"I kinda got that." grinned Dayla noticing the guilt behind her friend's grin, "but come on Nikki I doubt you were really complaining. Someone looking as good as you did with someone as willing as Monique. If it were me I would have jumped at the chance."
Yet even as she spoke she had a feeling that something had happened that had stopped that from happening. And that something was to do with her.

She knew Monique hated when she was so close to being with someone but they said or did something that implied she wasn't the main focus in their head. She also knew that Monique was very demanding when she wanted to be. Yet if Monique had got into Nicole's pants she wouldn't have wasted any time in mentioning it to her. So Monique's silence was as teling as Nicole's grin. She really should try and talk to her friend the next time she was in the country. She hated when Monique didn't talk to her. Her life was always so much more boring. Man being at Hogwarts got boring without her french friends around.

Now Lord knows that Nicole was no hermit. She had plenty of friends, especially when she came to Hogwarts, but they all seemed to come and go-either because of her sexuality or simply because they grew tired of her and can anyone blame them? Nicole could be a handful at times. But Nicole had never really known true friends before, well not until Becky, Cas, and Dayla showed up. Before meeting them, Nicole thought that the idea of friends who last for life was bullshit that only happened to lucky people. But now Nicole was confident that in the end she'd always have Cas, Becky, and Dayla her side. Just the fact that Dayla hadn't run away screaming the moment Nicole tried talking to her proved that she wasn't going anywhere. So they hit an awkward spot. So what? That didn't mean couldn't be friends. Obviously Dayla had been shocked by the kiss but she didn't want to end their relationship because of it. Dayla was too good a friend to do that.

Nicole simply couldn't believe how unbelievably lucky she was. She never knew people outside the family could be so tolerant. She met a lot of creeps and judgmental assholes in her short time and for a while she had given up on being accepted. It had been a shock for Becky to be so good-natured about it and it was a triple shock to have Dayla stand here and tell her everything was all right. Was this how friends were supposed to be? Were they really this...understanding of each other?

Living in Nicole's world, one would get used to backstabbing and false friends. After having people whisper behind her back while pretending to be her friends not to mention the lovely people her family got involved with, Nicole had gotten used to the idea that everyone were just snakes and liars. It just didn't seem possible that some people were trustworthy. Nicole didn't show it but she actually had a lot of trust issues. She supposed it just came with being part of the family or maybe she had been hanging out with her 'uncle' for far too long. But whatever the reason Nicole didn't trust people...or very rarely anyway. But now that she had friends who she could trust...well she wasn't sure what to do. Part of her wanted to jump up and down that she had trust friends and another part of her (the cynical part) was wondering if this was some kind of cruel practical joke.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. Just because of what happened doesn't mean you can't hug me anymore. But seriously Vast majority of my friends aren't straight Nikki and I'm not about to throw my friendships with them away just because they like to kiss people of the same sex as well as not to mention instead of the opposite sex. Anyone who stops being your friend because of your choice of partner was never really your friend to begin with. Just remember that."

Nicole grinned when Dayla said she could still hug her. That suited her just fine although she told herself that that would be the closest she got to Dayla. She didn't want to repeat her mistakes. Dayla may have been all right with it this time but Nicole was sure there were only so many times she wanted to be kissed before she couldn't take it anymore.
"Thanks, Dayla, that means a lot to me," she said sincerely, "And I'm sorry for being such a dork about this. I just wanted to make sure that we were okay."
Nicole nodded her head as Dayla told her that real friends didn't ditch each other because of sexual preference. Well she knew that now.

"Really don't worry about it. I always do crazy things when I'm drunk anyway. You can't imagine the amount of times I've woke up in bed between both Monique and Shane. And even then half the time I can't remember what I've done. Sometimes it's better to forget about the drunkeness, it only holds you back."

Nicole couldn't help but giggle at the image of Dayla between Monique and Shane. What? Her mind was dirty okay? Jeez, like no one had ever had similar thoughts. Pervs.
"I'll have to remember that for next time," she said with a wink.
Hey if she had to settle with Shane interrupted once in a while to get closer to Dayla then fine. As long as Shane didn't do much to her, she'd be more than happy to share.

"I kinda got that, but come on Nikki I doubt you were really complaining. Someone looking as good as you did with someone as willing as Monique. If it were me I would have jumped at the chance."

Nicole grinned and said, "Oh no I wasn't complaining at all! Besides you can't really blame her. I was hot that night."
She laughed. Man it felt so good to be talking to Dayla again.
"So...what have you been up too?"

OOC: Sorry it's such crap.

Lady of Shiel

When she started Hogwarts, Dayla had been a loner aside and it had suited her fine. Sure she had got people's attention with the trouble she caused and the pranks she pulled but it was like everyone had been too afraid of her to even try and get to know the real Dayla Shiel. Mostly he had just been surrounded by whispered rumors and left it at that. Then with the few slytherin friends she had it was like she was stil as alone as before. Yet now she had Cas, Tristan and Nicole to be around with in her last year of Hogwarts and then she was free to see her French friends while she had the freedom. And that was what she wanted to do. While she may have got a reputation as a whore to a degree, [rumors had definitely circulated ater her and Tallen kissed in the library in her sixth year] she had never been like that. Aries, Tallen and Shane were the only guys she'd showed interest in. And while she still had a deep love for Tallen she was just having to deal with not always getting what she wanted.
But in her life now the friends were the most important part. Without Cas [no matter how crazy he drove her], Tristan [no matter how little he was around] or Nicole [despite their hiccup] she would still be that girl in her first year. And looking back she was disgusted at who she had been. Change really was for the better.

Many of Dayla's friendships with those she knew in France were touchy feelie friendships. The kind where someone was always hugging someone else, sitting in someone's lap [even if they weren't your boyfriend or girlfriend] and kissing you on the cheek, neck or forehead. It had helped Dayla to overcome not just what Tallen had done to her but what Aries had done to her. Without her friends being the way they would she would have turned into a prude. So assuring Nicole that she could still hug her was something she knew she had needed to do. Even if in a way she knew she was encouraging her to keep her hopes up she had to have some kind of closeness to Nicole in the similar way she did with the others.

"Thanks, Dayla, that means a lot to me, And I'm sorry for being such a dork about this. I just wanted to make sure that we were okay."

"And everything is ok. Believe me if it wasn't I would let you know about it."

Watching Nicole giggle when she told her about waking up between Monique and Shane was definitely a good sign that things could get back to relative normality. And that was definitely something Dayla wanted. She wanted to just be able to talk to Nicole about anything and everything again and if joking around about things she had done when drunk was the way to do it then so be it.

"I'll have to remember that for next time,"

"I'm sure you will." Dayla grinned rolling her eyes teasingly as she hugged herself against the increasingly cold temperature. Only in Scotland could the temperature continue to drop when it was already below freezing.

"Oh no I wasn't complaining at all! Besides you can't really blame her. I was hot that night. So...what have you been up too?"

"You really really did look hot. I was kind of surprised that you let us do that to you. Especially the corset. But you really did look like you would have fit in just fine on an 'alternative' photoshoot. Maybe you should dress like that a little more often?" smiled Dayla, though her tone wasn't pushy more like she was just suggesting. "I've not been up to much....just hanging around with Shane....the girls left last week. Monique seems to be going the furtherest out of all of them....moving to Finland for an internship or something. But aside from that it's been a bore. How about you?"

With his usual slow, methodical pace, Ezequiel stepped out into the courtyard. His dark green eyes took it all in with a slight interest. He hadn't been here too often yet; having spent his first four years at Beauxbatons, there were still places at Hogwarts that he hadn't seen. Of course, to most students, a place like this was something normal, but Ezequiel wasn't exactly the most sociable. His face was as emotionless as ever, hands in the pockets of his smooth, white robes in a very characteristic manner.

The place was quiet. Nearly all the benches empty. It was understandable. Most students had finally started studying for the exams coming up, fifth-years and seventh-years especially. However, Ezequiel had started weeks ago. Unlike many others, he felt he could afford a break: his classes were done for the day and he didn't feel like sitting in the library or the Slytherin common room skimming through books the contents of which he'd nearly learned by heart. "Besides... I won't be needing it," Ezequiel muttered to himself as he sat down at a bench beneath an old elm tree.

A while ago, he had met with Teran Gnarr as Livia had wanted him to. It had turned out to be a meeting well worth the little trip to London. Teran had been impressed with his potioneering skills and his attitude; he'd offered him a job as an assistant of his. Of course, that was an opportunity that Ezequiel could barely have dreamed of. Now, even if he were to skip out on his O.W.L.'s and N.E.W.T.'s all together, he would still have the start of a good career. A rare, faint smile appeared on Ezequiel's pale face as he blinked up at the afternoon sun.

Oh, yes, life was good...

Asteria Le Fay

Ahh. Fresh air. It felt like forever since Asteria last inhaled fresh air. It was a much better feeling than breathing in the same air in the Hufflepuff Common Room over and over. All of her homework that has piled up over the last week or so was finally completed and she felt she deserved a break from everything. Which was why she'd climbed the old elm tree in the courtyard. She and her siblings loved to climb trees in the front yard back home so she's brought that habit here to Hogwarts. Plus, it was a good way to hide from everyone. Well she was hiding from one person in particular. Casimir Dragomeru. He was the thorn in her side that caused her to come out here and think about things.

Maybe it was time to move on instead of dwelling on what was never going to happen. It would be much better for her sanity if that happened. Go figure that her first experience with "dating" would be a disaster. That was just her luck. Asteria sighed and switched her position on the massive tree limb. Below, she spotted someone walking towards the bench directly beneath the tree. She could've sworn she heard him talking to himself as he sat down. Interesting.

His white robes made him stand out in the courtyard. She didnt recognize him from any of her classes. He looked older than her but not by much. Well she could probably use the distraction from her own thoughts. Swinging her legs back and forth, Asteria asked, "Do you always talk to yourself when nobody's watching?" She could honestly say she's done the same thing from time to time.

"Do you always talk to yourself when nobody's watching?"

The sudden sound of a voice nearly started Ezequiel. He glanced from side to side... There wasn't anyone there... At least, not that close-by. It took him a moment before he realised that the voice came from above. A girl was sitting in the tree. It didn't surprise El that much that he hadn't spotted her: spring had nearly passed and it was almost summer and the old elm had become a sea of green.

"Occasionally. And do you always hang out in trees and listen to others when they think no one's there?" Ezequiel asked, looking upwards from the bench, merely sounding curious rather than angry. The girl seemed a bit younger than him. Ezequiel thought he'd seen her around Hogwarts, though he wasn't sure which house she belonged to.

"You surprised me, though," he added, folding his hands behind his head. "For a second there, I thought it might be someone playing a prank on me." By 'someone', Ezequiel meant Casimir Dragomeru. For a trouble-maker like him, sneaking up on El seemed like exactly the kind of thing he would do.

Asteria Le Fay

Asteria couldnt help but smile as the boy glanced around trying to find her. It seemed she'd startled him slightly. When he finally looked up at her, she gave him a small wave. His question made her let out an embarrassed laugh. "All the time, actually. I find that you can find out some very interesting things about people if you do not let your presence be known to them. Eventually, I do make myself known and that's what I'm doing now so.." She shrugged and thought back to what he was saying himself earlier when he sat down. "So, what is it that you dont need?" She put her palms down beside her on the tree limb and continued to swing her legs.

"You surprised me, though. For a second there, I thought it might be someone playing a prank on me."

"Sorry." She gave him a sheepish grin. She wasnt normally this open with people but it was kind of nice. Normally she had her head hidden behind a book and you dont make very many friends that way. It was rather sad that Asteria didnt have very many friends at Hogwarts. She was always either studying or spending time with her siblings in Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley. Not that she was antisocial or anything like that. She was usually a shy person so this encounter was very unlike her. Looking back down at the boy, she asked, "Do you often have people play pranks on you?" If that was true, then...poor boy.
