Background History (min 150 words): Daria was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. For the first three years of her life, she lived in an orphanage. She was left on the doorstep of the orphanage at 2 days old. Right away, she became a favorite with the nuns because of her vibrant red hair. She was too young to understand that her life was a bit different than a lot of other kids but that never seemed to affect her. A week after turning 3, Elena and Markus Petrova adopted her. They were the best parents any kid could ask for. Plus, Daria inherited a large family. The Petrovas had 5 other kids besides Daria but never treated her any differently just because she wasn’t theirs biologically. Elena and Markus lavished lots of love and affection onto their children. Her siblings seemed to envelop her all at once. She was always closest to her older sister, Rachel. One day, she was walking to school with her sisters when she discovered she was a witch. At first, Daria was horrified that she could do something so out of the ordinary. That was the day her parents had the “talk” with her. They explained that they were all witches and wizards so she fit right in. At age 11, she was sent to Durmstrang and made excellent grades in most of her subjects. It was hard at first being separated from her parents for most of the year but she made new friends at school. Plus, her siblings were there too so that made things easier too. She graduated from school and was immediately offered a job as an auror because of her exam scores. However, she turned it down. She wanted to move back to St. Petersburg to be closer with the rest of her family. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for her. During the summer of 2012, Lord Voldemort sent out a hit on one of the families in her parents’ neighborhood in the dead of night. The Death Eaters set fire on the entire neighborhood, killing her entire family. Daria has always felt guilty that she wasn’t at home to help her family but she knew they would never approve of her guilt. She had been visiting a friend a couple blocks away. For a solid year, Daria wallowed in grief and despair. She didn’t have a place to live at first but her parents’ best friends allowed her to stay with them until she figured out what she wanted to do. Ultimately, she decided to move to London, where there was a known community of witches and wizards. At the time, she thought she would at home being surrounded by other magical people. She found a flat right outside of Diagon Alley and started her first job at Florish and Blotts. In the meantime, she did some research on this Lord Voldemort. Of course, his name was never spoken among magical people. She wasn’t out for revenge. She was just curious as to why her family’s deaths were necessary. To this day, Daria has questions but she doesn’t dwell on them. It was during her job at Florish and Blotts that her sunny disposition appeared. Her boss at the time was a kind older man who doted on her. He treated her like the granddaughter he never had. When he passed away, Daria felt like she had lost a member of her own family. Soon after that, Daria saw a job posting for an administrative assistant position in the Daily Prophet. She’d never heard of the company before but she figured that it might be a good job for her so she applied for it. The person who interviewed her seemed a bit scared of her cheeriness but ended up hiring her anyways. She still works there to this day. Family: Her parents, Elena and Markus, were extremely loving parents. Her siblings were: Ian, Liza, Joseph, Rachel, and Stephan. Daria fit right in the middle age-wise. She was the closest to Rachel, who looked after her with a fierce protectiveness. At first, Daria could remember being looked at as an oddity because her family had no idea if she was a muggle or a witch. Not really in a bad way though. Everyone loved her from the moment she joined their family and the feeling was mutual with her. Occupation Profession: Administrative Assistant at the Syndicate Headquarters Specifics about the job: Basically, Daria does whatever her boss tells her to. She does anything from making copies to setting up profiles of different witches and wizards of interest to the Syndicate. Daria doesn’t really know what exactly the Syndicate does on a daily basis and that’s probably a good thing. She loves her job. It keeps her busy every single day. Working Atmosphere: Daria has made friends with a couple other assistants. Most people avoid her because of her constant cheerful attitude. Some people in the office often wonder why she’s always so happy. At one time there was even a rumor that she was on some kind of happy drug. Nobody else has the same perky attitude she has. Sometimes her boss even turns his nose up at her whenever she smiles at him or wishes him good morning or good night. However, she’s still around so she must be doing something right. Daria stays busy all day every day. She even works on weekends sometimes just to get things done. However, what else is she supposed to do?
