"If we keep thinking like this we're going to drive ourselves insane, I think Cael and Ralem should go. Cael should go because....well he's Cael. And Ralem can go and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." "Yes Banks, I'll make sure he doesn't attempt to 'sacrifice' himself for us, alright?" Caelestis smiled at Mercury and Lem. It seems like they'd found the the guy that was going to wield the sword. Namely him. It was better this way. Now, at least, Cael wasn't going to be worried sick about whoever else would be facing Voldemort; he'd still be worried about the others, but Death Eaters they could handle. However, now his thoughts started to turn back to himself: Cael had seen plenty of danger throughout his life; about two years ago he nearly died. He was always so adamant on saving everyone, but now... Would he be able to keep himself alive? Eternal Sword or not, there was no guaranteed victory against Voldemort... But the look in Cael's emerald eyes was clear enough. He was going to be alright. Everyone was going to be alright. They were going to win this and then it would be over. They had to believe that or they wouldn't be getting anywhere. "I don't think there's much more to discuss. We have a plan. Everything now depends on Xavier, being able to get us past the Fidelius Charm on Riddle's headquarters. Then we'll get inside with Mercury's Phoenix. Me, Katia, Mercury, Samantha, Manfred, Xavier and any other Order-member that wants to join will distract the Death Eaters. Meanwhile, Caelestis and Ralem will take the Eternal Sword and face Riddle. This is it... I can't believe this might be the final battle." "Believe it, Caed. I have a feeling this is going to be the end, one way or another," Cael said and he gave a short nod. Everything was now in place. Would it all work out as smoothly as Caedmon said? Probably not, but they had a plan. And that was the whole point. Thanks to Xavier, the Order of the Phoenix finally had a direction again and a clear course of action to take. As he stood there, in the dark room of the Shrieking Shack, Caelestis suddenly remembered that it'd been quite a while since they'd felt that way; it often seemed like the Order was on the defensive and behind the facts, but now was different. And was it really going to be the end? Something told him it was, for better or for worse. Either the Order would succeed in defeating Voldemort and they'd bring about a new era of peace; or Voldemort would finally succeed in eliminating any opposition and achieve the victory that had been denied him twice already. Cael thought back to the beginning of all this... The re-emergence of Dark wizards; Varius's rise at the Ministry; his own abduction by the Obscurati... The beginning of the Third War, Caedmon's revelations, Varius ceizing power, the battle at Hogwarts, Mircea, the Ancient's Tomb... Everything Varius had done had all led up to Voldemort's return. The Muggle Killings, Mad-Eye's death, saving Scrimgeour and stealing the Eternal Sword... Mircea's death, the Death Eaters's disappearance and now Xavier's betrayal. Looking back, it all seemed like a strange dream or a nightmare - but it was real. And hopefully, this would be the end. "I'll return to the Death Eaters and I'll obtain a note with the address to his headquarters. You can contact me if there's anything else you'll need. I'll need my weapons back. And before you even think it - Riddle has examined my sword and my wand. He'll notice immediately if he sees there has been tampered with." "Really? You think we'd try something like that? Just give them to him. There's no point in making him anxious." This topic was hardly a surprise. Caelestis knew that Xavier was going to react like that. Undoubtedly, he would say something like 'As a matter of fact, I do' to Lem. If Xavier really wanted to become a member or even wanted to work with them in these situations, then this stuff had to stop. Before his cousin had the chance to speak, Cael turned to him. "If you honestly want us to trust you, Xavier, then you need to trust us too. Remember that," he said, hoping he would understand. "Alright then. Let's get some sleep. Good night." "I'll go with you, Ralem." They both needed to go back to the castle, after all. "See you later, everyone. And good luck, Xavier," Cael added, then looked at his daughter. "Let's go, Sam." Glancing around the group one more time with a smile, he turned. His red coat billowing behind him, Caelestis left the shack. |

"Yes Banks, I'll make sure he doesn't attempt to 'sacrifice' himself for us, alright?" Mercury smirked at Ralem's response. Well at least she hadn't lost her sense of humor during all this seriousness (not that Ralem had much of a sense of humor to begin with). Of course he supposed maybe he shouldn't be so damn carefree about all this. Cael and Ralem would be fighting Riddle after all and he was supposed to be one of the greatest wizards ever. But what was he supposed to do? Stand there and start getting all worked up because they were about to fight the strongest wizard known to the wizarding world? Why? It's what they always did. Being an Order member meant fighting the worst and strongest of the wizarding world. These types of risks came with being an Order member and one got used to it after a while. Not that Mercury didn't worry about his friend's safety-because he did. He was very worried but he wouldn't show it. He couldn't. Being scared didn't help at all. Besides everyone knew. Everyone in this room had been through a lot already and they had gone through this similar anxiety before and they all knew that they would do anything to protect each other. They all knew that being an Order member was more than signing up to die or because they liked being the good guys. Being an Order member meant that they were joining a family of sorts. They were joining a family that loved this world so much they were willing, not only to sacrifice themselves, but their friends and loved ones. But they all knew and they didn't need to say anything. It was simply understood. Besides it wasn't in Mercury's character to be all concerned and worried. His job was just to tell a quick joke while everyone else dealt with the more important things. On the battlefield his job was to be the shield while telling sarcastic jokes. So basically he was the joker of the group and he didn't think anyone else expected anything else from him. Not that he was complaining. He liked being the goofball. He was slightly concerned when Katia offered her share of the elixir to Samantha or the new thing...Manfred was it? Something like that. Part of him felt that maybe the kids should take some extra elixir but the other part of him didn't want Katia to put herself in danger needlessly. He didn't say anything though. It wasn't his place. If Katia wanted to risk her life fine and he was sure Cael would have said something if he was really worried about her safety. The only thing that worried him was the fact that Manny over there didn't have anyone with common sense to speak for him. But again it wasn't like he could say anything. It wasn't like he was the kid's Dad or anything. "I don't think there's much more to discuss. We have a plan. Everything now depends on Xavier being able to get us past the Fidelius Charm on Riddle's headquarters. I can't believe this might be the final battle," Well it seemed that everything had been settled. It was hard to keep a straight face as Caedmon went through the plan. God if it worked it would prove that there was a God and he had a twisted sense of humor. But the truth was that there was no way everything was going to go according to plan. Something would fuck up and then things would go to hell and it'd be a miracle if any of them made it out of the fight alive. Should be fun. But seriously Caedmon was right, this could be the end. Mercury personally wouldn't believe it until he saw it. Even if they did defeat Riddle than there would be the Riddle wannabes that they would have to deal with. Maybe he was being a bit pessimistic but things never seemed to end. But one thing at a time. First they had to take care of Riddle. "Don't jinx us," he said giving Caedmon a grin, "Every time we say that some other jackass decides to show up and ruin things. Well that and that fact that Riddle doesn't know how to stay dead." "Really? You think we'd try something like that? Just give them to him. There's no point in making him anxious. Alright then. Let's get some sleep. Good night." Mercury may have hated Xavier but even he agreed that they should give him his weapons backs. Whether he liked it or not, Xavier was going to help them fight Riddle which meant that they were going to treat him like a human being at the very least. Besides he would needed his weapons for the up coming fight and it would help him out if Riddle somehow discovered that he had betrayed them. He nodded his head at Cael, Sam, and Ralem as they left. Well it looked like it was time to go. "See you guys later. Try not to have too much fun without me," he said as he was surrounded by flames. In two seconds he was gone thanks to Pepper's amazing ability to teleport. |

Manfred listened as it was settled that Cael and Ralem would be the ones to fight Riddle. He knew that no one would have denied Cael the chance to make himself a hero besides it wasn't like they had anyone else they could send. Cael was their best even though apparently Ralem was talented. But it didn't seem like she wanted the job. She seemed more than content with being Cael's back up. God Manfred wished he knew these people better that way he'd be able to stand back and decide if this was a good decision or not. Instead he had to rely on reputations and the fact that the other Order members knew what they were talking about. Besides it wasn't like he was in any position to complain. This was the first time he had met many of these people so even if he said anything they would just think he was being a newbie trying to stick his nose where it didn't belong. So he just kept his mouth shut and prayed that these people knew what they were talking about. "That's right, Katia, you should take some too. Those Death Eaters will be more dangerous than ever and it might not matter whether you're a vampire or not." "I appreciate your concern, Sam, but my mind is made up." Manfred looked at Katia concerned. He hoped he didn't hurt her feelings by refusing her offer. He just didn't want to be treated different. He felt slightly better when the girl also refused the elixir. Well at least he wasn't the only one. The girl also made sense. These Death Eaters would not be held back by the same morals the Order were. They would most definitely use the Killing Curse and that meant Katia would not be protected. But he didn't say anything. He just gave Katia a concerned look. She was a grown woman and she could take care of herself. He just hoped she wouldn't regret her decision. Manfred knew he had only met her once before this meeting, but he liked her. She was fascinating and he was hoping that he would get the chance to ask her more questions and study her condition in more detail. She was the only Order member besides Caedmon who didn't treat him like he was some threat or a newbie. "I don't think there's much more to discuss. We have a plan. Everything now depends on Xavier being able to get us past the Fidelius Charm on Riddle's headquarters. I can't believe this might be the final battle," Manfred looked at his fellow Order members and saw that they all looked rather nervous. Well they had a right to be. This plan was insane and there were so many things that could go wrong. Yet it was also the best chance they had to defeat Riddle. If they didn't take this chance they may as well give Riddle the wizarding world. Still so many things could screwed up and there were a lot of lives at stake. Not just theirs but everyone who lived-not just the wizarding world-but also the muggle world. This was battle would be worth fighting. Still he wasn't sure if he was ready to watch any of these people die. He had never seen someone died before-except his brother-but that wasn't quite the same thing. Oh God he hoped he didn't freak out the moment he stepped onto the battleground. This would be his first fight ever and it was just his luck that it had to be the battle that could decide the wizarding world. God why did this have to happen to him? He didn't want to make a fool of himself in front of these people. Especially since he made a great first impression. "Really? You think we'd try something like that? Just give them to him. There's no point in making him anxious. Alright then. Let's get some sleep. Good night." Manfred agreed with Ralem. There was no reason to hold back Xavier's weapons. For whatever reason Xavier had decided to join them and fight against Riddle, which meant that they would have to treat him like an ally. They didn't have to treat him like a member, but he was an ally and he deserved to have the ability to defend himself. Besides when else were they supposed to give his weapons back? Right before the next battle? When Ralem said the meeting was over Manfred was afraid that she would turn and snap at him again. The last thing he needed was to be taken to the side and have her rant at him about how serious being part of the Order was, etc, etc, etc. He gave Ralem, Cael, and the young girl a small nod as they left. He should probably go to. It was going to take a while to get back home and he wasn't sure if he'd be able to sneek into Hogs Head again without getting his ass shot off. He watched the idiot disappear in a burst of flame and wished that he had a phoenix. It would make traveling long distances a lot easier. He stuck his hands into his pockets, gave the remaining members a small grin, and walked out of the door that Cael had left open. |

"I'll need my weapons back. And before you even think it - Riddle has examined my sword and my wand. He'll notice immediately if he sees there has been tampered with." "Really? You think we'd try something like that? Just give them to him. There's no point in making him anxious." "If you honestly want us to trust you, Xavier, then you need to trust us too. Remember that." One by one, the other Order members left the shack leaving only her and Xavier. The time had come to give his weapons back and she was only too happy to do so. However, something made her hesitate. So many retorts came to mind when he demanded them back and Katia had to fight hard to hold her tongue. She knew she wouldnt like being defenseless during a time like this either. Of course he needed his sword and wand to fight against his own kind when the time came. All of these thoughts werent enough to make her rush through this. Maybe she wanted to do exactly what Ralem told her not to do...make him anxious just a bit longer. It would do him some good. Take him down a notch and level his ego down with the rest of theirs. Maybe it was Cael's reminder that they needed to trust each other that made her hesitate. Despite her renewed feelings towards this man, she still wasnt sure if she trusted him. He could so easily betray them again. It wouldnt bother him in the least to do it again. She would feel immense guilt if she handed his weapons back to him and he used them against the Order. She would feel responsible for whomever's blood would be shed. Did she really want that on top of everything else? Slowly she raised her eyes to his as she stood up on the broken step. His height has always intimidated her so she chose to stand on the step that would bring her to eye level with him. They were going to equals during this whether either of them liked it or not. Katia was no longer going to be one needing the rescuing during a battle. She didnt need to be saved which was one of the reasons she was refusing the Elixir. Katia didnt want to be known for having to drink a potion in order to defeat some death eater. No, she was more than confident this time that she could defend herself against anyone. Now, if she were going against Riddle himself then she would consider taking the Elixir. However, that wasnt her job. Despite all of her hesitations, she still couldnt deny the fact that Xavier came here and followed through on his word. That shouldnt come lightly to anyone. She couldnt believe she was about to do this. First she raised his wand towards him. He wouldnt hesitate in taking it but she knew it was his katana that he really wanted. This thing was his security blanket. She slowly lifted his sword towards him, much like he did to her earlier that night. Once they were out of her hands, Katia felt lighter. Like a huge burden had been lifted from her shoulders. She broke eye contact with him and walked past his large body. When she got to the door, she turned her head and softly said, "Thank you." It was reminiscent of when he thanked her earlier that night. It was probably the least she could do after what he did for them. She didnt feel like arguing or denying anything she felt at the moment. Nobody knew what was going to happen in the next few days so she impulsively said before leaving the shack, "Please promise me that you will be careful." He was going to have a huge bounty on his head after tonight after all. |

"Really? You think we'd try something like that? Just give them to him. There's no point in making him anxious." "If you honestly want us to trust you, Xavier, then you need to trust us too. Remember that." Xavier scowled. The honest answer to Ralem's question was 'yes'; he wouldn't have been surprised at all if the Order would have wanted to keep his weapons (or at the very least, the Shikyoken) as a little guarantee that he would keep his word. That's what Xavier would've done if he'd been in their shoes. But in truth, the Wraith was much more annoyed by Cael's words. Annoyed, because he knew he was right. Xavier was well aware that if they were to be going to work together, then he would have to bring himself to place some faith in the Order-members themselves... But could he do that? The way Xavier saw it, he was still surrounded by people who would rather kill him or put him in Azkaban than stand side by side with him in battle. Of course, they had every reason to, but that didn't make it any more attractive for Xavier to trust them. But the fact was, this issue was also a result of a much deeper-seated problem of Xavier's personality: he'd been betrayed by so many throughout his life... There had been people he'd cared about... Xavier had loved them. He had trusted them. He'd believed in them. But there had been nothing to believe in. Nor was there any need in life to believe in anything. That's what Xavier had come to think: that there was nothing in this world to believe in... And that's how he'd come to join Lord Voldemort... How ironic was it that, in order to leave Voldemort, Xavier would have to break with that philosophy? Destroy the walls he had build to protect himself... The truth was, Xavier was scared of that - scared of trusting others as easily as Cael could. If his black heart grew to love others again, he would also set himself up for further harm. And Xavier wasn't sure if he could stand that pain again. Before Xavier knew it, the other Order-members had all left, save for him and Katia. As he contemplated these things, he looked up and saw that she was holding up his wand. 13 inches, Unicorn tailhair, hornbeam. A wand that Cael had used as a spare and that Xavier had stolen in battle about two years ago, given that his own had been broken in that very same fight. Carefully, Xavier took it and stowed it beneath his robes. Then his dark eyes shifted towards the katana Katia still had; he could feel the sword's anticipation to be held by it's master again. But he also noticed Katia's hesitation. Would she give it back to him? Give back an exceptionally dangerous weapon to the man that had betrayed her? Katia lifted the sword and Xavier grabbed it. "Thank you." "You're welcome," was all Xavier said, looking back at Katia as she left. For a few moments, the Wraith merely stood there, in the darkness. He knew he needed to return to the Death Eaters quick - that way, they would not suspect Xavier to have betrayed them and he would be in a better position to help the Order when the time came. But Xavier remained pensive for a little while, a frown on his pale face... He then pulled the katana from it's sheath and spoke to it as though it was a living creature. "You won't take the blood of anyone, except that of the Dark Lord's servants, until this is over." A dark sensation spread through Xavier's fingers. As if the sword gave it's approval of the new path that it would carve for the Wraith from now on. ((OOC: Alright, the meeting's over! Be on the look-out for some more plot-events in the coming weeks as we build up to the grand finale of the site-wide plot! ))
