This relates to the movie....I just finished watching it right now.
Ever notice when Blackberry and Dandelion are coming back up the down to tell of Hazel's death, Fiver appears to be sleeping and only opens his eyes when the other two are in front of him.So what was Fiver doing? He sure wasn't sleeping sitting up. Maybe he was meditating and knew that those two would come back....that might explain how he knew Hazel wasn't dead.

I think that's what he was doing...just comtemplating, Fiver-like. |

I just went and watched that part, ended up watching the whole Bright Eyes scene: had chills the whole time. I don't know why, but I just love the end of that scene, when Fiver peers down the 'bloody hole', and a heartbeat can be heard. It appeared that Fiver was contemplating something, he probably knew that something had happened: he lowered his ears as though in sadness or some other powerful emotion. After all, in the book, Blackberry and Dandelion didn't even have to tell Fiver about Hazel: he simply already knew. Gah! I double-posted! That's not supposed to happen!

I decided to wait for you to return.
You're the only one I know that can turn a 30 second scene into 30 minutes.
 j/kFiver's always contemplating something isn't he? I wonder if he can contemplate if I'll order the hot chocolate or coffee tomorrow morning. |

I agree here that Fiver was contemplating something... Perhaps he had sensed that SOMETHING was happening to someone somewhere, but didn't really realize that it was Hazel until the other two came and told him what they saw happen. (BTW: The Bright Eyes scene sends chills down my back every time, too. And brings tears to my eyes. The lyrics are just so beautiful... And sad.) |
