This is just a random topic poking fun at ourselves. I've seen things like these before, relating to other movies and such, so why not WD? I'll make a list of things for me, and you all can make others if you wish. It doesn't matter if it pertains to you or not, you can come up with whatever you want, I'm just using myself as an example.

You know you're addicted to Watership Down when:

You run a WD site and forum to match.

At your WD forum, you change all of the member ranks to those found in WD.(Yep, I've done that!)

You know what "Hoi, hoi, u embleer hrair! M'saion ule hraka vair!" means. In other words, you've memorized all of the Lapine speech invented by Richard Adams in the books(true in my case).

You've dreamt about being a WD character(yes, this has happened to me!)

You've said "Embleer Frith!" and/or "Hraka!" in real life(I've done that...)

You get stressed out if you can't think of new ideas for your WD website(I admit this has happened to me on occasion).

Characters from the animated film spill out into real life(i.e., you imagine WD characters in a meadow, or "see" the Black Rabbit leaping over the landscape--yep, I've done that too, it sometimes is an inspiration for my artwork and my chars.)

I think it's pretty obvious I'm hopelessly obsessed with WD: and have no way of getting out! :P

You think Bright Eyes ought to be played on contemporary radio stations.

You hack your dvd player just so you can play the 25th Anniversary Edition of WD from down under.

You think Blackberry will always be male.

You have every version of Bright Eyes that ever has been released.

Oops, I forgot one:

You have snippets of the animated film, or any piece from its score, stuck in your head 24 hours a day('Tis me...I heard "Bright Eyes" in a dream I had once).

*blinks very slowly* Is it bad if you've done all of those? Because... I have.

Oh!

You can quote passages from the book and they randomly go through your head as an answer to every day life problems.

Yeah, THAT has happened to me, too. I was trying to figure something out just the other day, and I suddenly thought that I might need to look at it from a different perspective... And the 'boat' scene flew into my head... not from the movie, but from the BOOK.. as if the words were scrolling through my head. It was disconcerting... But cool. AND, I solved my problem. :P

Hey, that's not bad at all..if I thought it was, I wouldn't have posted all those embarassing truths about my day-to-day WD obsession. Wow, WD even solved a problem for you, how cool! That hasn't happened to me...yet. :)

It's really just more of a joke than anything, Marli...not to be taken seriously. It's like all the NASCAR jokes and how they relate to rednecks...

You know you're obsessed with Watership Down when:

You've recorded the entire movie on caset just so you can listen to it all the time...

You re-enact the entire movie in your backyard...

You quote the movie all the time...

You make up a spoof on it with your other obsessed friend...

You record yourself resiting the movie on your answering machine...

You say "Oh Frith and Inle' at the beginning of your voicemail...

...Just in case you all are wondering...yes...I have done all of these things...
:D I have issues! :D

It's man devouring man, my dear.

Then who are we to deny it in here?

You know you're obessed when . . .

*You own 35mm cells from the film
*Watch the film at least once a week
*Mention it to every other animator you meet.
*Have a WD background on your PSP for the wallpaper.
*Find yourself saying "Silflay hraka!" to someone you don't like.

I'll add another one:

-You search far and wide for instrumental themes from the film (I've found three versions of Bright Eyes)

Hhmm... I wonder who it was who wrote it woth you, Thlayli!! XD

You know you're obsessed with Watership Down when...

...you draw the Black Rabbit of Inle on your arm with a sharpie.

...you and one of your friends use an extra notebook to create a spin-off of Watership Down using your own original characters *COUGH*Thlayli and I did that*COUGH*

...you write things such as "Praise Frith!" "Woundwort Lives!!" and "Fiver is da Shiznit!!" on your binders.

... you have a sketchbook filled with fanart.

... when you and your teacher become engrossed in a rabbit-themed conversation DURING class. [True story! It happened with my History teacher last year. He's the one who got me into Watership Down in the first place]

... when you see a boat, you stare it in wonder and exclaim, "It floats!!!"

...when your walking in a field with friends, you stop suddenly, shudder and yell, "the field! It's covered with BLOOD!!!" and you fall to the ground and start twitching.

...when you and your equally obsessed friend compose a production of "Watership Down: the Musical!!" at the local park.
"Life is a rose, either pleasantly fragrant or painfully thorny..."

"Why do humans always look to the sky? Why do you always try so hard to fly when you don't have any wings? We use what we've been given. We'll run, on our own legs, as far as it takes..."
