I'm not sure yet what else I want to do. There's little point in competing with Jen, so I might just make my own reviews and leave it at that. The more links to this forum the better. Plus I wanted to see what googlepages was like. :P:

Nice presentation. Obviously there's not much there yet, but it's good that someone is prepared to do an in-depth review of the book.
Well, George Lewis told the Englishman, the Italian and the Jew:
"You can't open up your mind, boys
To every conceivable point of view."
They got Charles Darwin trapped out there on Highway Five
Judge says to the High Sheriff: "I want him dead or alive."

I always thought listening to the soundtrack seperate from the film kind of spoils it, y'know. The music is supposed to go with the film, not be heard by itself.

Agree with the whole review, except the part about the Stephen Gately version of Bright Eyes. The fact that it's a pop song just makes it really annoying, for me. The oringinal was sad, but the new version is too sugary-sweet.

1978 film review is up. :) Bit by bit I'll get it done.

Jen, if you're reading this, I'll try and get a banner if you want to affiliate your site with mine. Do you have one for this forum?

I've never heard the Stephen Gately version. I do like the radio version of Bright Eyes though, because of that extra verse. It still gives me the same feeling as the one from the movie. I like both versions of Time and Tide as well.

A banner? I have two for my website, I think either one of those could work. Affiliating with my site wouldn't be altogether different from affiliating with the forum itself. I tend to think of them as one entity. If ever I get a domain for my site(which I'm seriously considering)I'm going to make this forum work with the domain.

(Weird, my post didn't go through the first time. The forum's been glitchy for me).

Sounds about right. It was a lazy novel, really, like Richard Adams couldn't be bothered to come up with a new adventure for the rabbit so instead wrote a load of short stories.

I think there's even a bit where one of the rabbits laughs. Sacrilege!

Yep, Tales was more about rabbit stories, so the title kind of fit when you think about it.

For Inle--if you want to link to me, here's the banner image.

But it was Tales from Watership Down that inspired me to build my website in the first place. The story "Hyzenthlay in action" made me want to make a female Chief Rabbit character, and after I saw the WD movie for the first time, the decision was finalized. I originally built the website around Inlé-rah, then spread out to include my collections, fan art, and everything else that's there today.

One has to remember that Tales was published over twenty years after the original work, so Richard Adams was bound to slip on some things. He was pretty old when he wrote Tales from WD. I'm surprised he wrote a companion book at all.

Edit: I've got the link up now. :)

I like it. New but interesting.

As for Tales, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the original, but I don't think anyone did. It was just a fun sort of thing... he didn't HAVE to write another book.
