KCW SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL for 03/05/05
=======================================
KCW's first show back in over three years originated from the KCW Centre in Knoxville, Tennessee. After the opening credits and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Saturday Night Special" theme song, Donovan Thomas and Paul Von Braun took to the air and announced how good it felt to be back after a long hiatus.

Donovan Thomas and Paul Von Braun talked about the night's card, which featured the beginning of an eight-man tournament to crown a new Volunteer Heavyweight Champion. There was also going to be a tag team battle royal to determine the Smokey Mountain Tag Team Champions. The opening match was going to be a four-way elimination match with the winner being declared the new Knoxville City Champion. People were speculating whether or not Chi Chi LeVaughn would be in attendance tonight as it was announced "contract negotiations" had hit a "snag." It wasn't a sure thing the "Pimpin' Sensation" was going to be back with a promotion he helped build.

DANNY DRAKE v. CRAZY DRAGON v. OSAKA MAGNUM v. HAWK SLOAN - Knoxville City Championship Match
=====================================================
After all four participants made it to the ring, the match started off slowly as they tried to determine who would start off the match. Hawk Sloan and Danny Drake ended up being the ones to start it off. Sloan easily dominated the smaller Drake, tossing him around the ring with his strength advantage. Sloan continued to dominate the smaller Drake with a succession of three backbreakers and gained a two count after a powerslam. Sloan then trapped the younster in the corner and proceeded to unload with a barrage of punches. After a kick to the face to counter an avalanche attempt, Drake hit the bigger man with a dropkick to take him off his feet. Drake made the tag to Crazy Dragon which brought a good reaction from the crowd for the cult favorite. Crazy Dragon took it right to Sloan, not backing down from the big man. A barrage of chops and kicks sent the behemoth to the turnbuckle, where Crazy Dragon hit him with a handspring elbow. Dragon made the tag to Osaka. Osaka came into the ring and took one look at the big man and immediately tagged out to Drake. Drake went right after the big man, hitting him with chops and even going for a snap suplex. Drake didn't have the power to get the big man up and over, and Sloan wrapped the smaller man in a bearhug. Osaka immediately came in and landed a dropkick to Sloan's back, which sent Sloan and Drake into the turnbuckle. Dragon came in and took himself and Osaka out of the ring. Sloan charged into the corner at a prone Drake, but Drake moved out of the way. Sloan crashed into the turnbuckle and was rolled up for the three count. Osaka was tossed back into the ring and Drake went to work on the Japanese star. He executed some good chain wrestling, but was caught off guard with a thumb to the eye. Osaka went on the offensive and showed a good display of technical wrestling, folding Drake up with a release German suplex. Osaka went to the top and hit a moonsault to finish off the Knoxville native. Dragon entered the ring and the match went to a back and forth contest as both Dragon and Osaka countered each others moves. Osaka soon gained the upper hand and took to the air scoring a near fall with a swanton dive. He then attempted to wrap Dragon up with an octopus hold, but Dragon countered with a hiptoss before the move could be locked in. Dragon quickly regained control with a backdrop that sent Osaka out of the ring and followed it up with a suicide plancha. He whipped Osaka into the guardrail, ringapron, and even the ring steps. He took the action back into to the ring and set Osaka up with a brain buster. Dragon finished off the masked high-flyer with his Dragonsault (shooting star press) and was declared the winner and new Knoxville City Champion.

RESULT 1: Drake pinned Sloan with a rollup at 06:32.
RESULT 2: Osaka pinned Drake after a moonsault at 09:13.
RESULT 3: Dragon pinnned Osaka after the Dragonsault at 15:22.
RATING: **3/4

ROUND 1 MATCH: ANATHEMA v. JEREMY RHODES
=========================================
Anathema was returning to action in Knoxville after disappearing beneath the waters of the Tennessee River at Christmas Glory in 2000. Ring rust wasn't apparent as Anathema attacked Rhodes before the bell and totally dominated the ring veteran with headbutts, punches, chops, and a choke. Anathema kept up his barrage, but found himself on the defensive as Rhodes' experience paid off and allowed him to counter a suplex attempt with one of his own. Rhodes then showed the crowd why he was a favorite in the tournament with solid wrestling skills, focusing on Anathema's neck. Rhodes slowed the pace of the match down, resorting to a reverse chinlock and sleeperhold to stop the man beast. Anathema was able to get the advantage back by breaking Rhodes' sleeperhold with a jawbreaker. Anathema scored a two count with a head and arm suplex and applied a clawhold, which scored him a few two counts as Rhodes was forced to stay on the mat. Rhodes got back to a vertical base and started punching Anathema as the crowd rallied behind him. He finally broke the clawhold, only to have a clothesline attempt ducked and on the bad end of a spinebuster slam. Anathema waited as Rhodes got back to his feet and then speared Rhodes out of his boots. At this point, Anathema seemed to lose rational thought as he slid out of the ring and grabbed a chair. He proceeded to wallop Rhodes with the chair a few good times, promting the disqualification. Satisfied with the carnage, Anathema left the ring as Mark Barnett checked on Rhodes.

RESULT: Rhodes defeated Anathema by disqualification at 07:03.

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS: STEVIE SCOTT
=================================
Stevie Scott was backstage and talked about how he built KCW up from a small regional promotion to the cult favorite it became. Scott spoke about his history and how no one was going to stop him from winning the title. He warned Titan to not even show up for the match. The King of Stevietainment also mentioned having an "ace up his sleeve" in case Titan decided to "take the rules into his own hands." With the flash of a STEVIEGRIN~!, we were ready for the match.

ROUND 1 MATCH: "HOTSHOT" STEVIE SCOTT v. TITAN
===============================================
The match started off quickly as Titan used his power advantage to slam Stevie after a lock up. From there, the two put on a technical clinich with each hitting a succession of moves only to have the other counter and start his own. Scott got the upperhand with a swift punch to the groin while Bill Cartwright wasn't looking. From there, Scott let Knoxville remember why he was the most hated man in the promotion. He dragged Titan's face across the top rope, used the sole of his boot to choke the former commissioner, and went as far as scraping the sole of his boot across Titan's face. The crowd rallied behind Titan, which helped him regain the advantage with a succession of "I block your punch and then punch you" moves. Titan gained a near fall with a Samoan drop and then took it one step further and hit a Samoan drop from the top rope. Scott managed to roll his shoulder up before the three count. Titan gained more near falls, but just couldn't seem to put Stevie away. Frustration showed as Titan argued with Cartwright about the counts. Scott managed to get back to his feet and sneak up behind Titan, but Titan was ready for him. Titan ducked a superkick attempt and scooped Scott up for the Three Rivers Plunge (fire thunder piledriver). Scott wiggled off of Titan's shoulders. Titan spun around and was met with Scott's Hotshot Hammer (hotshot followed up by a reverse DDT), which gave Scott the win.

RESULT: Scott pinned Titan after the Hotshot Hammer in 11:57.
RATING: ***1/2

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS: SHORT BUS EXPRESS
======================================
The debuting duo of "Special" Ed and Corky were backstage talking about their match tonight. Neither man seemed sure what a battle royal was. On top of that, they weren't even sure which way it was to the ring. They talked about becoming champions and how their teacher, Ms. Hawthorne, would be happy if they could win the match after they failed to learn how to clap in her classroom the other day. The two set off on their adventure to find which way it was to the ring.

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS: SOUTH TEXAS OUTLAWS
========================================
The camera found the South Texas Outlaws in their locker room talking about their chance at winning tag team gold later in the evening. They wanted to let the rest of the teams know there weren't any prisoners being taken and anything would go. Bruiser Ringo and John Brocius said this was their chance at becoming stars and the Texas-natives weren't going to fail.

IN-RING: RONALD "SILKY" LeVAUGHN & "ASHY" ANDRE "GHETTO SUPERSTAR" LeVAUGHN
=====================================================
The LeVaughns, sans Chi Chi, came down to the ring to talk about their matches tonight. Ronald let Billy McGraw know that Ronald was ready to slap around some hoes tonight, and McGraw was the top ho on the list. Ronald went on to let everyone know that just because Chi Chi wasn't here, didn't mean the LeVaughns weren't going to clean house. He and Andre both dedicated their matches to their cousin. Ronald let McGraw know singles were much harder than tag team matches saying "McGraw couldn't depend on Carl Klark to save him." Andre got on the mic and talked about white America and the problems with "the man." He went on to say that his opponent embodied everything white in America, and he (Andre) was going to win one for the "playas" tonight.

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS: HOLLYWOOD BY NIGHT with KITTY VON BRAUN
=====================================================
KCW fans were introduced to "the Fashion Industry's Worst Nightmare" Kip Butler and "the Fashion Assassin" Tony Thomas. The two men talked about how it was time they were give the spotlight and a chance to prove themselved. Feeling like they had been overlooked, Butler mentioned how he trained at the KCW Wrestling School but was never given a chance to show what talent he had. He explained tonight, KCW was going to be forced to admit to the mistake of never signing him the first time. Tony talked about how great he was and how great it was going to be a tag team champion after tonight. Kitty Von Braun just stood in the background and nodded in agreement with the two men. After the comments, Donovan wanted to know how many Von Brauns there were in the wrestling industry. Paul seemed to take this as a sign that Donovan was asking if he had a chance with Kitty. Paul became quite offended by that and threatened to tell Donovan's wife about his adulterous intents. Donovan was confused.

ROUND 1 MATCH: "ASHY" ANDRE "GHETTO SUPERSTAR" LeVAUGHN v. "AMERICA'S PERFECTION" ALEX WALLACE
=====================================================
The match started off with a lot of trash talking from both sides and culiminated with a slap from the self-proclaimed "America's Perfection." LeVaughn responded with a punch that floored Wallace and surprised the veteran. Andre let the crowd know that a "playa" doesn't take kindly to "hatin'." That was just the opportunity Wallace needed to take control with a release German suplex. From there, the rest of the match was all Wallace, as he focused brutal attacks on LeVaughn's neck. He continued to use suplexes, power bombs, and slams to really work over the neck and make it tender. It was only a matter of time before Wallace hit the Made in America (leaping piledriver) and scored the three count to move on in the tournament.

RESULT: Wallace pinned LeVaughn with the Made in America in 04:32.
RATING: **1/2

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS: BILLY McGRAW
=================================
McGraw responded to Ronald's earlier comments saying he was but a stepping stone. He didn't need Klark in this match because Ronald was nothing more than a pushover and didn't have the "sac" to back up all the trash talking he did. McGraw went on to make a prediction that Ronald would be going home empty handed tonight with a bunch of trailer trash.

ROUND 1 MATCh: RONALD "SILKY" LeVAUGHN v. BILLY McGRAW
=====================================================
The match started out an even contest as both men would jockey for position and go for a move only to have it countered by the other. LeVaughn was able to get the early offense going when he started beating on McGraw with punches. McGraw took a break on the outside of the ring to "collect himself." McGraw made good use of the ten count quite a few times and got under "Silky's" skin. Ronald came out after McGraw, and McGraw slid back in and took control with well-placed stomps. McGraw went right to work on LeVaughn's left knee, softening it up. McGraw landed a bodyslam and elbowdrop and got a two count out of it. He went for the Vicksburg Vicelock (figure-four leglock), but Ronald countered with a small package for a two count. Both men got back to a vertical base, Ronald favoring his leg, and exchanged punches and chops. McGraw got the the advantage and whipped Ronald into the ropes. Both men were knocked down with a double clothesline. Ronald was the first to his feet and waited as McGraw got up. McGraw ducked Ronald's Ghetto Fabulous (axe bomber) attempt. Ronald rebounded and caught McGraw with a sit-out power bomb to counter a leapfrog attempt. LeVaughn nearly got a three count. McGraw took the offense again with a low blow and hit a bodyslam and followed it up with a vertical suplex. Another bodyslam attempt saw Ronald hop over McGraw and roll him up with a reverse cradle to get the win.

RESULT: LeVaughn pinned McGraw with a reverse cradle at 10:15.

Hollywood by Night double teamed Ryan Wallace and continued to stay on him, but Ryan thwarted a few elimination attempts. SPECIAL INTERVIEW
=================
The Gremlin came out to the ring to the biggest pop of the night. It was obvious the Knoxville fans still remembered what he brought to KCW and the wrestling industry. The Gremlin carried the Volunteer Heavyweight Championship with him. Gremlin talked about what the wrestling fans did for him and how he was appreciative. Gremlin also mentioned how he enjoyed his time in Knoxville, but he wasn't coming back to the promotion. He said he was long overdue for a break from wrestling. He wanted to pursue other interests and spend time with family and friends. He said he came to Knoxville to hand the belt back. At this point in time, Paul Von Braun entered the ring. The crowd buzzed with exactly how Paul was going to attempt to ruin this. In a moment where characters and kayfabe ceased to matter, Paul Von Braun said he wanted to talk about the Gremlin's career. He spoke about Gremlin's career in HOWF as part of the Reign of Terror. He talked about him and Sinister tag team accomplishments. He mentioned Gremlin's IWF career and then brought it back to UCW. Paul explained Gremlin's rise from TV Champion to World Champion. He spoke about Gremlin's career in GLCW after CWLA ceased operations and then Gremlin's career in KCW as well as EMWC. Paul said the Gremlin was a a real professional. He never complained about what he had to do. He just went out and did it. Paul told the Gremlin he was happy for him (the Gremlin) about the recognition he deserved. It was a shame the Gremlin was taking time off from wrestling. Paul also said, while KCW hadn't been opened long enough to really warrant a hall of fame, the Gremlin deserved to be in a hall of fame. That lead to the announcement of the Gremlin being inducted into the KCW Hall of Fame. At this point, the locker room came out and down the aisle, clapping the entire way. Those close to the Gremlin entered the ring and shook his hand: Alex Wallace, Michael Yinessa, Zachary Carter, Stevie Scott, Jeremy Rhodes, and even some stars who weren't on the active roster like Sinister amongst others. Yinessa got the mic and said the championship Gremlin was going to return was his. While Gremlin may not be the Volunteer Heavyweight Champion, he was a champion in the eyes of the wrestling industry. Donovan Thomas commented on this special moment as Gremlin was hoisted onto the shoulders of Sinister. The crowd continued to cheer as Saturday Night Special went off the air.
