Nearly ten months have passed since the Universal Wrestling Federation first heard the words "Marshall Law". Ten months of hell, ten months of torture and chaos, but ten months that may soon be coming to an end. On December 26th, 2004 the UWF presents RISE TO POWER live from the SBC Center in San Antonio, Texas... a night that will change the course of history for the UWF one way or another. Commissioner Becky Byers and President Jessica "Fatality" Marshall will battle for control of the company once and for all, and by the end of the night one of these two women will solely possess the majority of shares. A series of nine matches have been set up between Byers and Marshall, with each one representing a 5% stake. Becky Byers has vowed to end Marshall Law if she's declared the majority owner, but if it's Fatality who comes away with controlling interest there may be no end to the darkness that's encompassed the UWF. In the huge Rise To Power main event, World Heavyweight Champion "DOOMSAYER" KYLE LEE squares off against former champion EDMOND WINSTON IV in a LADDER MATCH! EW4 was forced to give up his stake in the UWF to get this rematch, and Big Tobacco will stop at nothing to reclaim the gold from the Big Bastard. Thanks to her final act as his manager, Victoria Marquess has ensured that "VIOLENT" VICTOR FROST will defend his North American Championship at RTP! Unfortunately for the champion, it could be anyone on the roster because this will be an OPEN CHALLENGE MATCH! The Women's Heavyweight Championship of the World goes on the line when DONNA TETREAULT finally competes against the number one contender and the woman who's been chasing her for several months, "THE SHOW" SIERRA BROWNE! Donna has put obstacle after obstacle between herself and the Show, but nothing will stand between her and Sierra at RTP. "YOUR SAVIOR" JAMIE UNDERWOOD has made life a living hell for "THE WALKING CONTRADICTION" SABBATH and at Rise To Power their rivalry comes to a conclusion in a LAST MAN STANDING MATCH! Adding to the stipulations of the match, if Sabbath is able to defeat Jamie then SONYA BENEDICT's suspension will be lifted! One man will be unable to answer a ten count, but the real question is will anything be left of either man when all is said and done? SCOTT "HOTSPOT" DANIELS squares off with THE ONE-WINGED ANGEL in another battle of the Pride against Amity at Rise To Power, but this won't be any ordinary match. No, this will be straight outta the MBC as they compete in a BALLBREAKER CAGE MATCH! Fatality brought a special hired gun, the infamous LUKE KINSEY, to the UWF not too long ago and at Rise To Power he'll be in action against the equally infamous ALEX MARTINEZ! As one of the matches where a percentage of the company is on the line, will Fatality's hired gun be succesful or will the Last American Badass stake a piece of the UWF for Becky Byers? In a grudge match it'll be UWF legend ALEX KIDD taking on "DEAD END" DEREK MARTIN! It may be no coincidence that Martin is also the latest to join the Pride, but regardless of affiliations these men are bent on settling the score one last time. "MR. MAIN EVENT" CHRIS DOUGLAS seems to have targetted JASON KEENING since arriving in the UWF some months ago. Now these two finally have the chance to finish their personal war at RTP in a STRAP MATCH! Announced shortly after Rampage left the airwaves last week, TEAM CANADA will be in tag action against the team of "HENTAI" RYU OSAWA and "NIGHTHAWK" MICHAEL BONN! Kari's boys made short work of Ryu on the last Meltdown with Bonn offering no help to his tag team partner. Is this going to be an easy 5% for Fatality, or does Ryu have any hope of his partner showing up this time? Also announced for Rise To Power, the shares held by the Youngbloods will be on the line! Each of the two YB matches will be worth half of their combined 6%, and if the 'Bloods don't emerge victorious their shares will be split up between Fatality and Becky Byers! "MR. EXCITEMENT" ALEX EXTREME and "AGONY" MICHAEL AUGUSTINE have been at each others' throats for what seems like forever, and at Rise To Power they'll get their hands on each other! And likewise, their respective allies THE PRIVATEERS and THE SONS OF CACAPHONY will also step into the ring against each other at RTP, with the Drake brothers' World Tag Team Championship on the line! And in additional action... Two of the most destructive tag teams in wrestling history collide in San Antonio when THE HANDS OF DEATH and THE PROPHETS OF RAGE face each other in a DOUBLE DOG COLLAR MATCH! The bad blood in this one goes back all the way to Portland, and may be among the most brutal encounters we've ever seen. And the Women's World Tag Team Champions THE BOD SQUAD have ruled the division for a long time by hook or crook, but now they've got two roadblocks in their way. The champs will defend the titles in a TRIPLE THREAT MATCH against TEAM BATTLE*DREAM as well as the duo of "TORNADO" TARA SMITH and ALICIA POWERS! *** One hour prior to the huge Rise To Power lineup, tune in for the special RTP: Pre-Show! You'll hear from all the big match participants, get all the last minute news and information about RTP live from the Alamo! Plus two bonus matches... "SHOWTIME" RICK MARLEY will put the Rampage Championship on the line against MARCUS NUIT, who's vowed to leave the "Meltdown Pay-Per-View" with the strap and take it to Meltdown! And fellow newcomers L. DAN DEE and "LONG HAUL" GREG EMBREY will be in action against each other! Tune in an hour before the PPV for all the scoops leading up to one of the biggest nights in UWF history. |

There are actually some matches I am quite looking forward to as a reader. Lee/Winston should be fun simply being the main event. I can't seethis not getting the full attention it deserves though the UWF writing style does leave something to be desired at times in hardcore matches. The RCW/EMWC style with sound effects and long spaces in between sentences to draw out the drama really works better then normal PBP/bracket style without it. Frost vs Open Challenger: Interesting. I guess this means someone gets a push. big fan of Tommy though! Great, great handler. I'll be honest... I don't really follow the woman's division in UWF ![]() Underwood vs Sabbath LMS: Interesting. Could be great with the right writer. Daniels vs 1WA: DAMMIT DANIELS! The cruiser title isn't on the line. This could be workratealicious or not work at all. Kinsey/Martinez: RCW sucka. See, this almost seems like a Vince thing where he puts a competing promotions stars together lower on the card to make the UWF guys look better. Fletch would make this MOTY, I think it'll be quite understated and forgettable here TBH. Kidd vs Martin: Intereference-Fu here! No way this is gonna be a straight up clean match. Douglas Keening holds not very much interest. I hate strap matches. Team Canada vs Ryu/Bonn is angle driven but could be interesting. Auggie/Extreme could bt the darkhorse show stealer! Privs vs SoC... um, I don't really know much about either team TBH HoD vs Prophets could rule SO, SO much. A ton of history here. |

[We get a sudden image of a dark room in Canadia, where Mike Beeby sits at a computer terminal, putting together his card. He pushes the mouse, jumps on the left mouse button, and thus "Kinsey-Martinez is moved to the midcard. His evil plans coming to fruition, Beeby laughs mercilessly... in fact, he laughs so long and so hard that he falls off of the thimble onto the desktop, and he can't reach the keyboard anymore.] I just don't see the inter-promotion sniping hate that was around in Ye Olde Days. I'm thinking it has more to do with Kinsey and Martinez being relatively new to UWF rather than Beeby power-tripping over the thought of sticking it to RCW. Especially since Fletch could just as easily job Tom Landis to a muppet. Jeremy S. (could use that win, actually;-)) |

My turn. As far as the writing style goes, I really don't see a lot of difference in the way the UWF's style looks from the other major feds out there aside from cutting down on the multiple exclamation marks, *'s and several other pet peeves of mine. EW4/Lee - Steve more or less nailed this one, it's the potential tiebreaker of the shares matches if it goes that far and suits both guys' more hardcore style. Plus after the last SNR they're both coming in wounded and not at 100 percent. That's a wrestling fan's dream come true, to see two top guys in a potentially deadly situation! Frost Open Challenge - Agreed, this cycle kind of fell apart at the wheels for poor Tommy but luckily we've been able to recover a little bit and at least get a really good match set up for him. Kudos to him for what he's done with the NA belt too, usually it seems like that belt is the kiss of death for handler participation (Robinson, Austin, Eddie Jacobs...) "I'll be honest... I don't really follow the woman's division in UWF sad.gif" Then you've missed some top notch action, Wallie. Seems like there's two real flavours of women's e-wrestling, either all hardcore bloodfueds or technical showcases. Outside of a few savages on the roster (Hello Extreme Measures!) much of the division focuses more on the workrate side of things, and there's been some tremendous matches. And Tetreault's one of the MVPs of the past few cycles. Underwood vs. Sabbath - The earlier part of the fued may not have been everyone's cup of tea with Sabby's kid involved, but it certainly did the trick to get the bad blood flowing. And now that the fued's turned into one with real blood flowing, the LMS should be particularly nasty. Daniels vs. 1WA - The cruiser division doesn't have a real lineup of challenges at the moment anyways, but this fued has been a real hidden gem when it hasn't been grabbing the headlines. I say this one could be the sleeper hit of the show. Kinsey vs. Martinez - As Steve said, this is Kinsey's first really big match (outside of the debut in the tower) which is a part of the reason why it's not one of the top two or three in the lineup. Another reason being that it was only set up the last show before the PPV and doesn't have a tremendous amount of build to it (hell, Kinsey only showed up on what, the third or fourth last SNR before the PPV?) Regardless of where it is, both characters rock hard and this is going to be one fun clash. Kidd vs Martin - This has a real old school feeling to it, not just because it's the former Legion guy against the newest Pride guy, but just because of how the characters are handled. Could be another potential sleeper too. Douglas VS Keening - Lots of build with superb character building, it may not be the headlining match but this one could have more potential from it than anything else on the show. Team Canada vs Ryu/Bonn - Another one that was added late and may not have a huge amount of build but four fun characters anytime. Youngblood Matches - They've both been built slowly over time and have a boatload of heat behind them, not to mention the added angle of whether or not they'll keep their own company shares. HoD vs Prophets - HARDCORE~! HARDCORE~! Women's Three Way Tag Titles Match - "Biased, but SOMEONE needs to get those belts off Sunburst." PSHAW. EVERYBODY LOVES THE UNICORN. And the pre-show matches should also be fun too, some of the newer characters getting the chance for a bit of spotlight. All in all, RTP's gonna rule. Remember who said that first. |

I think Kinsey/Martinez is lower on the card because they haven't been feuding with anyone let alone each other. Aside from it being a good match, there's no storyline to be furthered or resolved. |

My turn for my $0.11... Overall- the ‘Marshall Law’ storyline reached enormous proportions, complete with the Miami Brawl that ended the show prematurely. The angle was probably too big- it’s too difficult to have an all-emcompassing angle that affects EVERY wrestler. Still, Rise to Power should be an epic for the storyline. Kyle Lee vs. Edmond Winston IV- the big one, unfortunately slowed down by real life issues. Still, Kyle and Phil can GO, and both are incredibly well-written characters. There’s one thing this angle need- a good joint flash by both wrestlers, laying out their hatred for each other. Victor Frost vs. ???- Tommy unfortunately got blasted by a problem that he wasn’t even part of, and I owe him an apology for ruining the original angle. I’m hoping the replacement works out well, because Frost is one of my favorite heels in the UWF. Hands of Death vs. Prophets of Rage- Both teams are excellent, and fans of ‘hardcore’ matches should love this matchup. I’m biased because I don’t like hardcore, and I think both teams are better than matches that are nothing but gorefests. Privateers vs. Sons of Cacaphony- people either love tag teams, or hate them. These two are both great tag teams, and more than just an accessory for the Augustine/Extreme match. Michael Augustine vs. Alex Extreme- I’ll admit Extreme took a while for me to get behind, but I really like this storyline now. And I suspect it’ll be a great match. Luke Kinsey vs. Alex Martinez- the position on the card is mainly because there was no angle between the two- both guys are outstanding, and I can’t wait to see them higher up on the card. Scott Daniels vs. One-Winged Angel- Daniels is probably the franchise player of the UWF, and OWA has improved more than any character I’ve seen. This should be a great match, and I don’t think there will be any worries about going overboard on the MBC surrealness. We do need to work on the cruiser division after the PPV, though. Donna Tetreault vs. Sierra Browne- Walls, I’m with Steve here: Donna Tetreault is one of the best characters in the UWF now, and maybe the best heel in the fed. I don’t think there’s any other female she could go against and get a face reaction right now. She’s been tormenting Sierra for a while, and I suspect revenge is right around the corner… Bod Squad vs. Team B*D vs. Powers/Smith- Powers has really grown, and Smith is a rock in the women’s division. The Bod Squad make great heels. I’m still on the fence about B*D- I like their flashes, but the taser is overboard for my tastes. Jamie Underwood vs. Sabbath- Count me among those that didn’t like the “Sabbath’s kid” angle. That being said, Jamie Underwood is a wonderful heel, and this feud has been set up nicely after the Alex Price angle was resolved, with Sabbath having plenty of reasons to want to kill Underwood. And as a bystander, I’d be cheering him on… Alex Kidd vs. Derek Martin- this feud has a more ‘old school’ feel to it, and both handlers are fantastic. Of all the matches on the card, this is the one that I keep picturing as part of an 80's NWA show. Ryu Osawa/Michael Bonn vs. Team Canada- honestly, this feud needs more time to bake. Ryu & Bonn never finished a match as a team in the UWF (their one match ended with the brawl in Miami) Chris Douglas vs. Jason Keening- lots of nice hatred between these two, with Douglas throwing everything and the kitchen sink (and Titanicus) at Keening. |

Since I'm the guy that posted the lineup, I may as well add my thoughts to the pile... First of all, people who haven't been following the UWF extensively haven't heard about some of the things that have gone down which resulted in some matches having to be shuffled around. The people who have heard about the things that went down, they know what I'm talking about, ask them. I've also seen and heard about past angles in UWF that had lots of potential but, for one reason or another, ended with a whimper. The Marshall Law angle is one that I did NOT want to see end like that, so as a result, we are making do with what we can. And honestly, hitting the reset button on every single thing would have resulted in ML going out with a whimper. That being said, my own thoughs on the matches: Lee vs. EW4: I personally feel Lee is quite underrated by many and I know not everyone is big on EW4's character, but given that EW4 was a focal point of Marshall Law to begin with, he has to be in the top match. I really wish Kyle hadn't had real life issues coming up that kept him from contributing, but it happens. I think the match will be fine and hopefully both handlers will get some good material into to give the match the final hype. Frost vs. ???: What happened here was not Tommy's fault, and Mike Sonby, it's not your fault either, stop blaming yourself. At any rate, considering that Frost has had a long NA title reign and has been doing everything he can to give the belt importance, he deserved a match and we figured an "open challenge" match might add intrigue to it. Browne vs. Tetreault: I agree with what's been said that Tetreault has taken the ball and run with it, making Browne, who has been a heel for most of her run, into a sympathetic character. So the match should be a good one. Augy vs. Extreme: Anyone who knows COB knows how wild he can get with Augustine and it's certainly added a good element to the feud. Privateers vs. Sons of Cacophony: This hasn't been just a side feud off Augy and Extreme, I took some time to add my own element to it (I handle The Privateers, BTW). The feedback I've received has been positive about those elements I've added. Kinsey vs. Martinez: See, this is the reason why one shouldn't just look at PPV lineups and really should go back and read the cards to get an idea about what happened (most of which I've linked to when they've been uploaded to the website). I will say this: Andy was doing a heck of a job building up Kinsey in the short time he's been here (yes, I'm serious, STOP LOOKING AT ME FUNNY) and Kinsey certainly deserved a match, so this was added. And given that Kinsey has been established as an ally of Jessica Marshall, his match needed to figure into the shares situation. Martinez didn't have a specific program so this is what we have. Now, this could serve as a match that launches a feud, depending on what the handlers want to do, and if that does happen, you'll see a rematch with higher billing because issues will have been built up. Martin vs. Kidd: I've approached things with Martin (yes, he's my character) from an old school perspective, admittedly, in which Martin decides he's going to target Kidd just because Kidd's the hero. As for interference... I plead the fifth. Daniels vs. 1WA: Admittedly, we don't have much going on in the cruiserweight division, but many of the characters who could compete there are focusing on the heavyweight division. That being said, there was an issue that was simmering and it made sense for this match to happen. Keening vs. Douglas: There's been some good stuff that both handlers have developed to make this feud work as well. As far as strap matches go, it may or may not be "touch all four corners to win." Remember, WWF/E modified that a few years back by just having the wrestler using the strap to use as a weapon, but had to get a pinfall or submission to win. That may be the case here, and in fact, I wouldn't mind seeing that in place. Underwood vs. Sabbath: When it started, yes, I wasn't crazy about the idea for the feud, but now that they've upped the stakes a bit, it's got more potential. Osawa/Bonn vs. Team Canada: For those who didn't follow the massive brawl that included the entire offense, this was where the issue started up. It's kind of gotten a bit away from that, as far as direct involvement between the opposing teams go. However, because of circumstances that affected Frost's match, they also ended up affecting the card as a whole, so this was the match that got added to the shares situation. Hands of Death vs. Prophets of Rage: Some may ask themselves why this wasn't in the share situations instead, and the reason is that neither team is siding either way on the ML issue. HoD, in fact, did an angle in which they told EW4 they weren't going to do any more of his bidding (and EW4 had been using HoD to "punish" those who opposed him) so having HoD as a player in the series makes no sense. Bod Squad vs. Team BATTLE*DREAM vs. Powers/Smith: And it's a little difficult to have a three-way match decide shares, isn't it. And oh yeah... some of the characters that debuted midway through the cycle will get exposure on the pre-show, so it's all good. At any rate, I can say that the hardest part was just getting to this point to resolve Marshall Law, and cards being late isn't the reason. That being said, the cards are starting to come out more smoothly than they have been in the past and hopefully that will allow UWF to get back on track once we get to the next cycle. OK, I'm done. |

*cracks knuckles* Lee/EW4: Can't top what's already been said. This may be what saves or damns the UWF. Personally, I'm looking for more than just Kyle winning. I wanna see EW4 actually BEATEN. Frost/??: Frost is a top tier heel in the UWF and it'll be interesting to see what happens in this match. Sonby, ditto what Bob's said. Quit blaming yourself for something that was never your fault. I'm not gonna say anymore, lest bile taint my words... Tetreault/Browne: Aw shucks...you hate me! You really HATE me! B) I've been having a blast with Donna and it helps that I've had probably the best crew of folks to work with for this angle. Augy/Extreme & SoC/Privs: These two should be great to see. I can't wait to see any Lisa Drake vs Allison Ivey action to boot. And the Privateers have a great dynamic to watch. Kinsey/Martinez: Two guys who've always had that "rep" as far as e-w is concerned...let's see what they can do. Martin/Kidd: I wasn't around for the glory days of Alex Kidd. And Martin's just an enigmatic bastard. I like the interplay between him & the rest of the Pride. If him & Daniels ever butt heads for control of the group, it'd be something to watch... Daniels/1WA: BALLBREAKER CAGE!! Here's hoping we get some new blood to square off for the CW belt after the PPV. I can't have Bonn keep kicking Angel's butt all the time, you know...(Ger, it was a joke! Put the baseball bat dow--OW!!) Keening/Douglas: Never got to see Douglas before UKWC folded again. Good interplay between him & Keening though. And Jason is being built up as a credible singles face. Underwood/Sabbath: I did NOT like the kid dispute. Here's hoping Sabby has Jamie unable to eat solid foods for a few months. Bonn/Ryu vs. TC: If things could have been built up differently...but what's done is done. Still, here's hoping it's a good-played match. HoD/PoR: Eh...excessive hardcore has never been to my tastes. I'm on the fence for this one. Women's Tag Three Way: Anyone for grilled Unicorn? As for the pre-show... I like Nuit...here's hoping the match between him & Marley is a hoot. Embry/Dandy: Hrrrm...the fading athlete vs. the not-so Luchador. I expects the wimmins to play an important part in this one. Could it be who can't keep their mouth shut?
