Okay, my two cents. Lee/EW4- Hurts me to say because I'd be pulling for Lee, but I think EW4 Winston comes away with this one by some cheap tactic. Frost Open Challenge- Somehow, though I see there being a potentially big surprise in who comes in, I still think Frost retains. Tretreault/Browne- I actually Sierra will pull this one out. Underwood/Sabbath- Sabbath wins this one. Just seems like the right ending and quite frankly damnit, if the 1WA's likely going down (Guess my prediction for the next match) the No. 1 contender's going down with him. ![]() Daniels/1WA- This one's been fun. Steve, Beebs, and Bob have all be fun working with on this entire somewhat unexpected angle. It really wound up something that just pregressed over the course of the cycle rather a real planning out. Also think it's been my best UWF work so far. Crying [MEEP]in' shame Angel loses this one. I just don't think he's on that level yet. (Kinda cool having a second straight ppv match being predicted to be the showstealer though.) BTW, I don't attack with bats, I've learned random blunt auto parts are more effective. (*maniacal bastard laughter*) Kinsley/Martinez- I have to echo Kinsley's stuff has been nice coming in and this one will be one of the best of the night. Martinez takes it. Kidd/Martin- Kidd, because I'm not about to give the Pride a sweep. Martin's on his way though.Douglas/Keening- Can't really pull a favorite on this one. But the coin flip says Douglas. Team Canada/Bonn & Osawa- Team Canada. Face it, unless there's interference or somehow Osawa somehow vicariously gets Bonn laid; the latter team's going to fall apart eventually. Augy/Extreme- Close one I see Augustine taking. Privateers/SoC- For some reason I'm all about title changes when the one I'm holding isn't up for grabs. Upset city. Hands of Death/Prophets of Rage- Brutal, sickening, painful to watch, and that's just Caliban eating the pre-mathc dinner. Hands of Death wins. Women's Tag Title match- Eh, where's a three sided coin when you need it? Bod Squad retains. |

It was Mick Foley that once said something like this... Wrestling is a three ring circus. You don't like the clowns, there's the trapeze. Don't like that, here comes the lion tamer. UWF hardcore is the fire eater, or the guys getting shot from cannons... My point is that I'm a little saddened that people are only viewing HOD/POR as a gorefest. One thing that differentiates UWF Hardcore from other hardcore (At least when Phil and I are involved) is that there is always a story being told behind the violence. It's not just two random pairings thrown at each other to tear one another up. That I think is what differences us from the rest (I'm just generalizing, there are great stories being told elsewhere). The feud has been one of the few this past cycle that has pretty much transcended the gist of the Marshal Law angle. It's not tied in to any shares. HOD made it clear they don't do EW4's dirty work. We've only seen the tip of the iceberg in what the Prophets are capable of. I'd like to think a lot of work has gone into this one... How long did HOD seemingly stalk Marissa Monet for, before we saw the Prophets arrive? Anyway. Should we expect a gorefest? Maybe. Maybe not. This isn't Descent Into Hell or the Killing Box. It's just a collar/chain match. Is there potential for gore? Hell yes. But the way I see it, it is the culmination of a story that's been told the entire cycle, and it has reached its' natual boiling point. Sure it's going to be violent, but so is the main event... and so is Augustine/Extreme... as well as Sabbath/Underwood... and so on and so on. Read into the match as you want, but Phil, Dare and I have worked hard on making this one count for something for more than just a gorefest. |

Hrmm. Gonna try to re-write my post again... Beebs, you lay off and leave my posts alone. :-) Kyle Lee VS Edmond Winston IV - A big point I had about this one was that I disagree with Walls' assesment that "UWF writing style does leave something to be desired at times in hardcore matches". Now I am keeping in mind that he said at times, but still, just feel the need to respond to that one. :-) In my above post, I talked about the story that goes into a lot of UWF's hardcore matches. UWF isn't a hardcore fed, but it has its' moments. I think the PBP/Bracket writing style works well to help get the stories across. I find the long space/sound effect style is ok, but certainly does not help make a good match (for me anyway). And when it's done in excessive ammounts, it makes reading somewhat tedious. UWF is more of an amalgamation of all the writing styles but I like how UWF match writers usually save the eye candy for the big moments. Anyway, back to Lee/Winston... I disagree with Walls again when he said this one might not get the full attention it deserves. If anything, this match will be the focal point of the pay per view. EW4 has risked everything to get another chance at the World title. He's put his stake in UWF on the line. Impact wise, it doesn't get much better than that. If he wins, we not only have to endure the continued evil reign of terror, but with EW4 as champ once more, pretty much changes the complexion of the fed once again. And on the other hand, if Lee retains, we could very well see the beginning of the end for Edmond Winston IV. This one's been building since day one of Marshall Law, and it's the focal point of the PPV, without a doubt. I agree with the sentiment that it is a shame we haven't seen 100% of Kyle Lee on this one, but I think the abscence was covered well. It would be great to see Lee get a proper strong run with the belt (He deserves it). Victor Frost vs Open Challenger: Would be a shame for Frost to lose it to an unknown challenger, given the incredible run he's had, but some unfortunate last minute booking required this to be a surprise challenger. Tommy's done great working through an unfortunate series of events, which he wasn't even involved with. Anyway, without knowing who the challenger is, I'm going to say Frost retains. Tetreault VS Browne - Walls, I hate to keep quoting you, but your post got me all riled. :-) "I'll be honest... I don't really follow the woman's division in UWF sad.gif" - Walls. I said in my first post that if this is the case, then you are completely missing out. UWF has arguably the best women's division in E-Wrestling, and has one of the best written champs I've seen in many, many years. Donna Tetreault's run has been great and I stand by my claim that her rise to the belt and then defending, has made her one of the best characters in the fed. And she's only getting better. I see Sierra putting up a good fight, but DOnna will find a way to squeeze out a win, or at the very least, retain the title. Underwood vs Sabbath, Last Man Standing - Big oportunity for both wrestlers. I see Sabbath getting the retribution he deserves. Daniels vs One Winged Angel, Ballbreaker cage: Sorry to all that I didn't run an angle with Daniels trying to drop the 30 or so pounds to put him in CW contention :-) 1WA and Hotspot work well off one another, and I have every desire to steal the show with this one. :-) Sidenote, this was the first time I've really worked with Ger on anything long term, and I've had a blast on this. Kinsey/Martinez: I am big on both characters. This is Kinsey's first really big match in UWF, and it's against an even bigger opponent in Martinez. Hasn't been much build to it, but it doesn't need much to make it interesting. And when you factor in the success of both men elsewhere, I know what to expect out of the two. If anything, this could serve to be the start of a bigger issue between the two to carry over into next cycle. I don't even think about the "spot on the card" this one has, because it's irrelevant. Kidd vs Martin: If anyone knows their history of UWF, they'd recognize how big a compliment it is for Martin to be refered to as "The next Brett Greene", and also how unfair it is, because Martin is on his way to big things in the fed and shouldn't be stuck behind that label. But that being said, if anyone knows the wars Kidd and Greene had, then I'd say expect that out of this one. Douglas vs Keening - Will a strap match be enough to contain the hate between the two? There is an incredible ammount of history behind this one to which I am not entirely familiar with, as I didn't handle in their old fed... A good job has been done re-inventing that hate/story between the two. I'm looking at Keening to be the winner, but that's just because I'm a closet boyscout mark :-) Team Canada vs Ryu/Bonn - One of the matches with less build than most. The fact of whether Ryu/Bonn will implode or not seems to be the biggest story here. I like this version of the odd couple. That having been said, even if they can compete on the same page, I'm going with my boys Team Canada on this one :-) Auggie vs Extreme - Another one with a long build culminating to this match. Glad to see it's kept without any stips or special rules, although I wouldn't have minded a street fight to just let the two go. I think it's Extreme's time to rise up, so I'm going with Alex. Privateers vs Sons ofCacaphony - Although tied into the Youngblood VS Extreme/SOC/Martinez setting, I think this one stands apart from beng simple faction warfare. I think this will be the sleeper match of the night. I wouldn't mind seeing how well the Grimsons can wrestle this one, up against the word-class Priv's. Hands of Death vs Prophets of Rage - Well, I guess you know my thoughts on this one. I'm glad we could convince Dare to bring the Prophets out of retirement, and hopefully he's happy with how this has turned out. Bod Squad VS TEam Battledream VS Tara Smith & Alicia Powers - Biased, but SOMEONE needs to get those belts off Sunburst. Pre-Show: Nuit VS Marley - Marcus Nuit has had an interesting run so far... I would love to see how "The Master of Meltdown" reacts to being the Rampage champion. I think Marley has something to prove in this match, to show if winning the title on his first night was just a fluke, or if it was meant to be. L. Dan Dee VS Embry - The ball is theirs. Let's see what they can do. |

Kyle Lee VS Edmond Winston IV - A classic tale of rebel versus establishment, with the fate of the entire fed hanging in the balance... Victor Frost vs Open Challenger - Frost got painted into a corner...we shall see if he is able to get himself out scot free. Tetreault VS Browne - I'm figuring Tetrault takes it. Underwood vs Sabbath, Last Man Standing - A test for Jamie Underwood, to see if he can withstand the fury of the Walking Contradiction...and a test for Sabbath, to see how quickly he can score an arterial wound on Winston's little bitch. ![]() Daniels vs One Winged Angel, Ballbreaker cage - When he's on, Daniels is one of the dirtiest men in the sport. As a heel fan, I'd like to see him get the uber-boos he deserves, even if it means downing one of the UWF's most entertaining personalities. Kinsey/Martinez - Speaking of being a heel fan... GO KINSEY GO~! He's got a hell of a mountain to climb in Martinez, but it is possible. This one will be an utter f'ing WAR. Kidd vs Martin - Dead End is on a roll. I predict he takes Kidd. Douglas vs Keening - Gotta go with the boy scout here. I know, normally I'm all for the heels, but hey, it can't rain all the time. ![]() Team Canada vs Ryu/Bonn - Canada cannot withstand the awesome power of the Cock. Nuff said. Augy vs Extreme - Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutal. Who cares who wins, it'll be a great match to see. Privateers vs Sons ofCacaphony - The Drakes were once under the New Era banner. For that reason alone shall they oomph the SoC and retain. Hands of Death vs Prophets of Rage - A lot of people are on the fence here...will this match be too hardcore for its own good? It's possible, but hopefully this will be more of a Bruiser Brody-style hardcore rather than a Jeff Hardy. My understanding is that the original ballbreaker was essentially a 6 person Hell in the Cell style cage match. So this incarnation will be just one on one... So basically, hell in a cell. |

Okay, I started reading UWF again about two Rampages ago, so let's see where my limited background gets me. Kyle Lee VS Edmond Winston IV - Some people are awful hard on Winston, but I see nothing wrong with him. Still, I'd like to see Lee win, because it makes for more interesting stuff the next cycle. Victor Frost vs Open Challenger - With all the new characters that I know about coming in next cycle, I'm guessing that this name will be a known UWF commodity. Maybe Joe Reed or such. In any event, Frost will likely remain the champion. Tetreault VS Browne - My knowledge of these characters seems limited. I've seen more of Tetrault these past couple shows, which is usually a reasonable indicator, so I'll lean her way. Underwood vs Sabbath, Last Man Standing - I like Sabbath, so there is my pick. I'm gonna be feuding with him in JJG, so INJURE HIM, JAMI... uh, yeah. :-) Daniels vs One Winged Angel, Ballbreaker cage - That sounds painful. I will pick 1WA just because most people pick Daniels, and I want to be a rebel. Plus 1WA isn't bad. Kinsey/Martinez - Two guys I know a good bit about, even though one of them has delusions about a MOTR tournament final that he lost to me a couple years ago... ;-) Kinsey will take this, I think, unless Martinez suddenly gets a World Title before this match and puts it on the line. Kidd vs Martin - Very unfamiliar with Martin, and on that basis alone I will blindly pick Kidd. Douglas vs Keening - I marked when I saw Chris Douglas was back. He may be the only person that's been out to rid the planet of the Keening Gene longer than I. However, Jason Keening will have asexually replicated many times by this match, so Douglas will probably have to contend with no less than 48,922.5 Keenings. He can probably only kill about 42,000 at a go, so I'll give it to Keening. Team Canada vs Ryu/Bonn - I know little about Ryu and Bonn, but if they don't have a team name, then they're at a disadvantage! Ergo, I pick Team Canadia, even if they can't spell Canadia correctly and have a total combined height of six apples. Augy vs Extreme - My, this one could get vulgar. I will pick Augustine, because he curses more, and cursing is [BLEEP]ing over with the 18-32 demographic. Privateers vs Sons of Cacaphony - I like the Drakes, and I suspect that they will keelhaul the swabs. Yar! Hands of Death vs Prophets of Rage - I will go with the Hands of Death, even though they are sorely underrating the rest of their bodies as potential instruments of organic termination. Bod Squad VS Team Battledream VS Tara Smith & Alicia Powers - I will go with Smith and Powers, because Tara Marshall is icky. That is all. Pre-Show: Nuit VS Marley - I know what Marley can do, which is quite a bit. However, Nuit winning would be far more sensible, since I know that Marley has a program ready and the Rampage title would be perfect for Nuit's gimmick. L.
