It was Mick Foley that once said something like this... Wrestling is a three ring circus. You don't like the clowns, there's the trapeze. Don't like that, here comes the lion tamer. UWF hardcore is the fire eater, or the guys getting shot from cannons...

My point is that I'm a little saddened that people are only viewing HOD/POR as a gorefest. One thing that differentiates UWF Hardcore from other hardcore (At least when Phil and I are involved) is that there is always a story being told behind the violence. It's not just two random pairings thrown at each other to tear one another up. That I think is what differences us from the rest (I'm just generalizing, there are great stories being told elsewhere).

The feud has been one of the few this past cycle that has pretty much transcended the gist of the Marshal Law angle. It's not tied in to any shares. HOD made it clear they don't do EW4's dirty work. We've only seen the tip of the iceberg in what the Prophets are capable of. I'd like to think a lot of work has gone into this one... How long did HOD seemingly stalk Marissa Monet for, before we saw the Prophets arrive?

Anyway.

Should we expect a gorefest? Maybe. Maybe not. This isn't Descent Into Hell or the Killing Box. It's just a collar/chain match. Is there potential for gore? Hell yes. But the way I see it, it is the culmination of a story that's been told the entire cycle, and it has reached its' natual boiling point. Sure it's going to be violent, but so is the main event... and so is Augustine/Extreme... as well as Sabbath/Underwood... and so on and so on.

Read into the match as you want, but Phil, Dare and I have worked hard on making this one count for something for more than just a gorefest.

When I make the joke, I personally just make the joke. It's going to be a good match, I feel. But there is the history. That and people unfortunately enjoy the spectacle. Hell, 1WA's first Ballbreaker Cage Match had a spot where he was hanging from the ceiling getting caned. Doesn't take anything away from the rest of a well written match, it's just that sticks out.

"Hands of Death vs Prophets of Rage - I will go with the Hands of Death, even though they are sorely underrating the rest of their bodies as potential instruments of organic termination."

But Jeremy, "Peens of Death" doesn't have the same ring to it...and even Nicole Bass wouldn't want to be involved in matches like that...

Nobody cares about L. Dan Dee. :(

That's because they are intimidated by the fact that his name starts with an initial. If you went ahead and just revealed that the L stands for Le, and that Dan Dee is actually the world's first French luchador, I am sure he would get over immediately.

Jeremy S.

Then I could do an RP and steal the "You know what they call a quarter pounder in France" stuff from Pulp Fiction.

He needs a catch phrase, man. I suggest "Arriba!"

He does have a catch phrase. It's "L. Dan Dee... which is Spanish for the Dandy."

I'm waiting on someone to tell me where the original line came from.

I'm thinking Chris Jericho made that remark during his heel CW run in WCW

Actually, Bret Hart came up with the best quote ever: "Who are you to doubt L. Dan Dee?"

Hey, that fits L. Dan Dee perfectly!

Team Canada vs Ryu/Bonn - I know little about Ryu and Bonn, but if they don't have a team name, then they're at a disadvantage!

I have a name for them...most of it unprintable...and the paperwork still hasn't gotten thru yet.

I used L. Dan Dee 'cause I started using the name on another message board me and some friends posted to. The name just stuck, so I decided to make a wrestler named L. Dan Dee... though I couldn't use El Dandy since someone was already using it.

Quick thoughts from a UWF old timer.

Lee v EW4 - I'm already a huge Winston mark, and I want a heel champ again. I got needs. NEEDS!
Frost v ??? - Champ retains. No way he loses in a make-good, last minute booked thing.
Women's title - Tetreault retains, but does not win. Maybe a dq, maybe a draw.
Underwood v Sabbath - Underwood gets beaten to within an inch of his life - in the first five minutes. Then he dies. Then Sabbath keeps kicking the crap out of him for a full hour. We all leave the computer to have a cigarette. Then return to watch every face come out of the lockerroom and perform their finisher on his corpse.
Daniels vs 1WA - Pain is temporary... but Pride is forever. Daniels all the way.
Kinsey vs Martinez - no idea. Am willing to be surprised. Possible show stealer.
Kidd v Martin - legends exist to put new guys over from time to time. Nuff said.
Douglas v Keening - Some kind of shady "brother switch" is used fifty-eight times by Keening, with fifty eight different relatives. The last one works and he wins.
Team Canada vs Bonn/Ryu - If you don't wear the same tights... if you don't have the same entrance music... you aren't a team. And you're no match for Pridesmen.
Augustine vs Extreme - Augustine can do no wrong in my book. No [MEEP]in' wrong. He wins a hard fought battle.
Women's Tag titles - Secondary titles in the women's division? You cannot make me care. Sorry, you just can't.
HoD vs PoR - a surprisingly ungory match. Just good, solid brawling, with an unsatisfying finish that lets the feud go on.
Privateers vs SoC - Goes the opposite way of Augustine v Extreme, just for balance.

Pre-show
Nuit vs Marley - may set a great early tone - I think it's the surprise of the night and may outshine some stuff on the card proper. Nuit wins, on the way to bigger and better things... eventually. You know, uh, when he's ready to handle it.
L. Dan Dee vs Embry - nice little match, could go either way. I just hope they both look good coming out of it.
And... the over/under for the number of times Amy slaps Sam on the night - 35.

I'd be offended, if I didn't recall that it was that old-timer who actually led to the creation of those titles.

OH, TAG~!

When I first made the belts, they were supposed to be a meaningless accessory for bottom dwelling heels. There's dignity in that.

And if that doesn't say BOD SQUAD I don't know what does.

You should have Ryu team with John Shock.

Just once.

Ya know...I _was_ thinking about using him for the Cantazaro Cup, but I went with Bonn instead.

And then the tourney never happened.
