!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!HURON VALLEY WRESTLING!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! OCCASSIONALLY ASKED QUESTIONS version 0.3 !!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!COMPANY... ALWAYS ON THE RUN!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! CONTENTS! 1. Destiny... is a rising sun 2. Broadcasts 3. Titles 4. The New Rules 5. The People 6. Don't take my heart, don't break my heart, don't throw it away !!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!DESTINY... IS A RISING SUN!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! GLCW is dead. HVW rises from the ashes of a broken-down and soulless company to fly high and into the hearts of the people who love professional wrestling. HVW is a territorial fed, meaning that they draw decent attendance within the area, but only a few dozen or so anywhere outside the territory. HVW also broadcasts their shows on the internet. Huron Valley Wrestling was formed out of the remnants of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, a one-time juggernaut in the business that became too bloated and out of touch for its own good. GLCW had a reputation for changing owners and Presidents, and it was eventually this hot-potato style of the administration that destroyed the company. When the company was put up for sale again, it was bought by one of its own: The Gremlin. !!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!BROADCASTS!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! - HVW SATURDAY NIGHT This is the weekly HVW show. It's going to feature only squash matches and promos, with a few cutaways to the HVW Damage Control Center for hype from retired wrestler Erik Covenant. This'll consist of clips from non-televised houseshows, the aforementioned promos and Covenant explaining the whole story ad nauseum. Finally, Saturday night will have one or two bigger (10k or so) matches that'll be joined in progress with no entrances or anything like that. This will not change until the fed is well underway, unless someone else volunteers to coordinate & produce a more "traditional" show and can promise that it will be on time. - HVW SUPERCLASH Superclash is HVW's supercard. These can happen anywhere from two to four times a year, depending on the size of the company. This is the night for everyone to leave it in the ring, with all matches being broadcast in full. !!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!TITLES!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! - HVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE The number one title in the company. As its name states, only wrestlers 225 pounds and above are allowed to compete for this title. - HVW CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE Technically supposed to be on par with the heavyweight title, the nature and history of the business dictates that this title is always secondary. As the heavyweight title is limited to wrestlers 225 pounds and heavier, no one above 224 pounds is allowed to compete for this title. - HVW SUBMISSIONS TITLE There is no weight class for this title. There are no pinfalls in matches where it is on the line; wrestlers can only win by submission, count-out, or disqualification, though obviously the latter two will be frowned upon. !!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!THE NEW RULES!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! HVW will be like GLCW in that I am busy and have far more important things to worry about than being strict about deadlines, and any cries of foul regarding my booking or the booking of anyone who helps run this game will fall on deaf ears. HVW will not be like GLCW in that I am adding - or resurrecting, depending on how long you've been in the loop - a number of things that have either long since fallen off of my e-radar. The first changes have already been mentioned: the Damage Control Center, and strict weight-classes. In addition to these are the following in and out of character rules: - THE NO RPS ROB MAGNUM CLAUSE There was a day when people could get away with being bigshots in any given fed without doing any work. I myself am guilty of pushing countless handlers who couldn't be bothered to write a 4k RP for a 100k+ show. If I am going to work for you, the people, then you had damn well better reciprocate. If you have a match and don't RP for it, then someone who does RP will be put in your place. - MANDATORY MANAGERS Almost without exception, every wrestler in the company must have a manager of some sort. New wrestlers cannot compete without either A) providing their own new manager or B) joining up with an existing stable. The managers of these stables can buy, sell, or trade the rights to their wrestlers at will. People can handle only a manager if they want. There will obviously be a cap on how many managers are allowed: five to start, with the possibility of more as the fed grows. - THE INJURY BUG This is something's that been under my skin for a long time, so I am going to make my mild e-w annoyance your major e-w annoyance. After big matches, I am going to run a series of random number generators to determine which characters were injured, if any, how they were injured, and how long they were out. This will probably start off as just a basic program at first, but I think that it will become more elaborate as the fed grows. - PROTECTED MOVES Put simply, this means no more 25 finishers-> 2 count -> 200 finishers through several tons of concrete -> pinfall. Piledrivers are going to be deadly, and submissions are going to be common. - WIN-LOSS RECORDS They're back. Streaks, win percentages, everything. - KAYFABE (IRC/YAHOOGROUPS) I fully expect that #glcw will survive the death of the fed. #hvw, therefore, will be completely kayfabe. #glcw will be blocked to anyone not handling in the fed, while #hvw will be open to the public. When a yahoogroup is completed, any posting on there should be done with kayfabe held close to the poster's heart. - CONTRACTS (UNDER DEVELOPMENT) This is something I tried to work into a fed I ran a long time ago, but wasn't smart enough to figure out a good system. But, it makes things more realistic, and I am working on a way to get it into this version of the game. What I hope to accomplish with the above rules is some sembelance of realism in an already excessively ridiculous game. This also opens up a lot of storylines that haven't been touched in a long time: the role of managers behind the scenes, losing/undefeated streaks, injuries that can't be no-sold the next week, and so on. !!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!THE PEOPLE!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! - IN CHARACTER THE GREMLIN - Owner. Not wrestling in HVW, not expected to be seen very often if at all. ????? - President. Will be introduced on the first HVW Saturday Night. Not expected to have an active on-air role. JAMES JAY PRESTON - Announcer. JJ Preston is a recent University of Michigan graduate with a degree in communications. A lifelong wrestling fan, Preston signed on to do color commentary for HVW. Preston comes from a wealthy family, and did not pursue a higher education because he needed a job, nor is he in wrestling for the money - he could have lived comfortably for the next sixty years of his life without having to lift a finger. ROGER BARAK - Announcer. A lifelong fan like Preston, Barak is completely...ordinary. He knows his stuff, he makes it a point to know the product. A nice guy with the patience of a saint, which is an important quality to have while working with someone like Preston. MO WASHINGTON - Ring announcer. Had a brief stint as the GLCW ring announcer until the company's last revival, when he was replaced. ERIK COVENANT - Former GFWA tag-team champion turned broadcast journalist. Covenant is the man in the HVW Damage Control Center. Has mellowed out a great deal since his wrestling days, growing out of his old "punk" attitude, thanks in part to career-ending back surgery. Still passionate about the business, it is Covenant's job in the Damage Control Center to keep the fans watching at home or on the internet up to date with all of the goings on in HVW. - OUT OF CHARACTER President - Andj Booker - Andy Doran Booker - Adam Griffin !!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!!DON'T TAKE MY HEART, DON'T BREAK MY HEART, DON'T THROW IT AWAY!!!!!@@@@@@!!!!!! To become a part of HVW, e-mail the below to drewzak@gmail.com - You! Your name: E-mail: IRC/AOLSN: Will you write?: - Your wrestler! Name: Age: Height: Weight: Hometown: Alignment: Appearance: List 15-25 moves: Signature moves: Finishing moves: Strengths & Weaknesses: Entrance: Background (past titles & feds, anything of note from their personal life): - Your manager! (if applicable) Name: Age: Height: Weight: Alignment: Appearance: Style (how will they behave at ringside? How will they treat their stable?) In conclusion... Andj is busy. Anyone taking time to write a match involving your character or characters is also busy. The purpose of this game is to have fun, not make a living. We enjoy good writing, good wrestling, and good times. If you do anything to compromise what fun the people running this game are able to get out of if, your characters will be assassinated, literally, after putting over any number of other characters in a variety of ways. More importantly, you'll drive me that much closer to disappearing from these circles altogether, which means the death of the fed and the work that goes into keeping it going. In other words, you're in HVW to have fun, so don't screw around. The below signee acknowledges that fact that if he/she acts like a dick, he/she will be treated thusly. HVW is about good fun and good times, not ego-trips and backbiting. Not sure if you guys know of the RBW experiment (I think), where Dave Aiello and was it Kenneth Morlock? tried to create their own unique world where there were two fed emerging with completely new characters based on handler names. Contracts were involved there...maybe if you talk to some of the guys who were part of that system while it was around (I know Scotty was involved with it...maybe, were you too Griff?) you can see if you like what they did, borrow from it or something. -Frank |

I actually met Aiello in a sim fed, and my sim fed at the time was doing the contract gimmick. One of Dave's first times on IRC was to negotiate his USRW contract. IIRC, he was awfully demanding.

That's because Aiello is certifiably insane. |

I was in a couple of feds that used the system. It was a while back but it worked for a while. One of those feds lasted like 1-2 years or something like that. I even helped run one for a short amount of time, but all of this was back in the last 90's. |
