I'm interested, what's next? 8.a. Application 1. NA-wha? The New American Wrestling Council is a small indy wrestling promotion based in Chicago, Illinois, but touring all around the Midwest. While it will have a men's and women's division, NAWC will not embrace the hardcore or T&A aspects of this sport. However, there may be times that demand a particular feud be ended in a hardcore or garbage-style match. While NAWC will not sanction these matches, it will however allow them to be aired on its supercards. However, the NAWC does not wish to make this style its bread and butter. The NAWC is a booked, closed flash, e-mail fed. While we will have no flash packets, on-cards are strongly encouraged by all participants, as well as joint efforts to help further storylines. The NAWC runs on a bi-weekly schedule, which simply means that one show will be released roughly every two weeks. For the most part NAWC may be compared to the Ring of Honor, though stories will play a much larger role here. Much like RoH though, The NAWC takes pride in its champions. Don't be surprised to see one retain their title for any number of months. But a crowd loves a good villain, so expect to see some of those as well. The NAWC thrives on a relatively small budget, and as such cannot afford the fancy stuff: video wall, pyros, or the like. However, it will have some smoke and lighting effects for entrances. NAWC holds its women competitors in very high regard. In fact, they are just as important as the men here. Plus, don't be surprised to see inter-gender contests from time to time. 1.a. History Four years ago Adrian Palmer formed the North American Wrestling Council, with Garrett Goebbels and Rick Stevens as its first two acquisitions. The company quickly gained in popularity from there, signing on such bright young stars as "The Bandit" Jason Blake, Sean DuBose, Claw Richens, Donovan Moore, "The Cavelier" Tom Knight, Rio D. Giniro, and many others. After several months of continued success, the company was bought out by "The Blue Chip Investment" Dow Jones, who merged it with Frank "The Falcon" Peregrine's Northwest Wrestling Association to form the North American Wrestling Association. Today, the NAWC returns as the New American Wrestling Council under "Sharpshooter" Shannon Rourke's control, though she'll rarely be seen on- screen. Her hope is to rebuild the legacy that was the NAWC built, and hopefully regain its previously earned cult status! 2. Who's in charge here? 2.a. IRL While I've been in e-w for the greater part of 6 years, I'm not very well known among the elitest circles. However, some of you may know me for my past work with the North American Wrestling Council, Mile High Wrestling, and Diamond Star Wrestling. I have handled many characters, though my most recent are "Poison Bliss" Myra Benedict, "Smiling Pitbull" Jacen Benedict, Sonya Benedict, Ronnie Benedict, and "Highspot" Heath Chambers. Several of which are currently inactive. My name's Neal Thayer, and aside from some matchwriters, I'll be handling the rest of things to do with NAWC. 2.b. Kayfabe 2.b.a. Front Office OWNER: "Sharpshooter" Shannon Rourke - Former U.S. Special Forces sharpshooter turned wrestling manager and successful businesswoman, Shannon has been out of the business for some time, but has built up her finances for this new project. However, you will almost never see her on-screen. Shannon is a very sensible person who may only show up to set things back on track. PRESIDENT: "The Savior" Jamie Underwood - Yes, you heard right. Jamie Underwood, a talented young man known for his exceptional in-ring work and tremendous mic skills, revealed himself to be the NAWC's new President. Unlike Rourke, he'll be seen on-camera much more: making matches, handling show-to-show operations, and otherwise keeping everyone in line. Or so we hope. 2.b.b. Commentators PLAY-BY-PLAN MAN: Billy Caldwell - Billy has been a wrestling fan since he was 6. Billy knows many of the wrestling moves, and has a tendency to root for the good guys whenever possible. COLOR MAN: Lurch - Lurch is a wannabe Mancow lackey. That's why he took this job. Known for his gruff voice, Lurch cares less about the sport of wrestling, but will gladly cheer on the heels and otherwise stir up trouble with the faces. 2.b.c. Referees SENIOR REFEREE: Doc Draven - Doc was the head ref back when NAWC was at its prime. He knows the rules inside out and gives people a hard time for cheating and interference. However, he's also somewhat lenient, knowing that the fans want to see a clear cut winner rather than repeated DQs or the like.. He counts pins at an average pace, and if knocked out, he doesn't disqualify anyone when he recovers. He will handle most high caliber men's matches. WOMEN'S HEAD REFEREE: Rebecca Howard - Former backstage reporter, former commentator, and now women's head referee. Rebecca has become a very opinionated individual who absolutely cannot stand hardcore wrestling or rulebreakers. As such, she's very strict in enforcing the rules, and will quickly disqualify someone if they break them. While she mostly referees the women's matches, she can also be seen reffing a few high caliber men's matches as well. BACKUP REFEREE: Donald Myvan - A retired jobber, Donald knows enough to call things down the middle and count pins at a fair pace. He's primarily Rebecca's backup, reffing the women's matches. BACKUP REFEREE: Robby Osterman - If you were looking for a totally green ref, Robby would be your man. While he knows the rules, he's very lenient in the ring. He may have a decent count speed, but the only thing he seems to be good at is getting in the way. 2.b.d. Miscellaneous HEAD BACKSTAGE REPORTER: Madison Pierce - Madison is a six foot brunette who gets along quite well with the faces, and likewise won't hesitate to stand up to the heels. even pulling out all the toughest questions. She's a true professional who doesn't need to flaunt her body to get the big stories. BACKUP BACKSTAGE REPORTER: Lenny "The Leech" Lorenzo - Known to work primarily in the Southwest, Lenny has somehow been lured to the Midwest and the NAWC. Lenny is easily the most annoying person you'll ever meet. When he picks someone to get an interview from, he won't leave them alone until he gets it, begging them desperately as they decline. He'll usually end up eavesdropping on their conversations or the like in order to get his stories. RING ANNOUNCER: Benny Jay - A midgit with a booming voice? Yep, that's Benny. He'll do the introductions for all of NAWC's competitors. SECURITY: The Authorities - This band of ex-cops and security guards will do their best to break up any unnecessary commotion that may arise. 3. What are the rules? 3.a. The DOs Remain active. This entails sending in a on-card for every card you're involved in. If you can't participate for a given period of time, let me know. Contribute to angles and feuds. Be creative and original. Keep profanity to a minimum. If it's acceptable in the WWE, it's acceptable in NAWC. And most importantly, HAVE FUN! 3.b. The DON'Ts Don't take any of this too seriously. NAWC was created for the sole purpose of having fun. Also, I don't want to see any rip-offs of anyone else's ideas and/or characters, whether real or fantasy. Don't include your on-cards/in- rings in strats. Send them seperately. Don't beat up on staff members without my prior consent. And finally, if you drop out without prior notice, I will have to job you. Let me know in advance and I'll put your character on the Injured/Hiatus list. 4. Will there be any televised programming? 4.a. Epicenter NAWC won't start off with a television deal. However, a deal has been set up to record every show onto VHS and DVD and these may be purchased (viewed) at our website. Our shows are called Epicenter. However, some may carry special sub-names depending on the theme of the event. Because these shows aren't aired on television, there is no set day of the bi-week that it'll take place. See below for a more specific schedule. Epicenter will contain mostly summarized matches with some commentary intersperced, though its Main Events will be written in full play-by-play. 4.b. Supercards The NAWC will hold 3 to 4 supercards per year. No names have been announced yet, however these shows will occur roughly 3 to 4 months apart. Supercards will be written in full play-by-play. 4.c. Update Periodically, the NAWC will release updates detailing important news, line- ups for the upcoming card, roster changes, among other things. Keep a close eye out for these. 5. What are NAWC's titles? For the moment NAWC only has two titles: one for the men, and one for the women. 5.a. Midwest Championship Specifically for the men, this title must be defended at least once per cycle. And if there are no defenses between supercards, then this title must be defended on the upcoming supercard. 5.b. Midwest Women's Championship Much like its men's counterpart, this title must be defended at least once per cycle, if no other time then at the supercard. 6. What will it take to succeed? 6.a. On-Cards The NAWC will not send out flash/RP packets. Instead, everything is done during the shows. That means that you need to do your on-cards: often times right at the venue in question. And while there is no video wall, backstage segments ARE allowed for fans who buy our tapes. On-cards should be creative yet relatively tasteful. And remember that quality is always more important than quantity. So make it short and sweet. 6.b. Strats The only way strats will hold any bearing on the outcome of matches is when they are used as a tiebreaker. Otherwise, they are strongly recommended to ensure that your character is properly portrayed. Also keep these short and to the point. I don't want an instruction manual. If you're new to writing strats, just give me a few spots and any specific instructions you have on how best to portray your character. 7. Is there anything I'm forgetting? 7.a. Schedule The NAWC will run on a bi-weekly basis. However, I'm not going to set particular days for deadlines as this will change on a show-to-show basis. However, in general you will have one week to send in your on-cards and strats, then I'll use the other to put together the card. Simple, no? 7.b. Mailing List NAWC does have a mailing list via YahooGroups. Sign up for it at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/NAWC/ as all cards and updates will be sent out through that group. 7.c. Website The NAWC does have a website which is updated after every show. Bookmark http://nawc.2ya.com for future reference, as the site will have wrestlers' bios, news, among other things. 8.
