# Dream Fujin bosses' worst fears have become reality, with headlining star Genji Gempachi confirmed as suffering a major rib injury that will keep him from competing on the "Fubuki Heatwave" tour. DF released a statement saying that Gempachi has been pulled from all of his scheduled matches on the tour, and has returned to his native Osaka to recuperate.

# More bad news in the hours leading up to the first card of the tour - Takahiro KEOKI has been released from his Dream Fujin contract. Circumstances surrounding his release remain cloudy at this time, but Weekly Fight has reported in the past that Dream Fujin officials were unhappy and uncomfortable with KEOKI's wild partying ways. There have also been veiled suggestions that KEOKI is an illegal drug user.

# Dream Fujin boss Billy Thomas held a press conference this morning in a conference room at Hakata Star Lane in Fukuoka, venue for tonight's tour opener. Before a gathering about 10 or so members of the press, Thomas introduced newcomer Norihiko Miura and touring gaijin Tate Monroe. Here is a transcript of the press conference (Monroe's comments were translated by an interpreter for the press):

------------------------------------------------

[Open to your typical press conference scene - a long table with a podium topped by a jumble of microphones. Billy Thomas is currently at the podium, dressed in a plain dark blue polo shirt.]

BT: Thank you. I hope you are all looking forward to another great Dream Fujin tour, which starts here tonight at the Star Lane. As you all know, we have recently let go some of the talent that we felt weren't performing to an acceptable standard, and we've also been struck with a couple of key injuries, so this is a tour of transition for us. An opportunity has developed for the newer and younger members of our roster - this is their chance to shine.

[He smiles.]

BT: With that in mind, I am here to introduce two men who will be making their Dream Fujin debuts tonight. One is an American who is here on a temporary basis, the other will hopefully become a permanent presence in Dream Fujin for years to come. First, please let me welcome up to the podium... Norihiko Miura.

[Norihiko Miura humbly bows while standing up, facing the media with a serene veneer. Dressed in what appears to be plain white shirt and pants, the newcomer begins to speak his peace.]

Miura: Thank you all. I have come into Dream Fujin with the purpose of testing the powers of my Zen Spirit against the likes of men of all shapes and sizes. I feel my spiritual and physical resolve and discipline will put the competition at a severe disadvantage, and if they are willing, allow them to have a Zen experience themselves.

[A question comes in from the press corps.]

Sankei Sports reporter: The only Dream Fujin material that has been released on you is that you are a "militant Zen monk". Would you care to explain this?

Miura: Yes; I don't think it's very difficult to see my spiritual side through my appearance; however, in terms of militance, I especially follow the First Noble Truth, that all life is suffering. Hence why I've come into Dream Fujin; to help my fellow wrestlers on their way to discovering Zen, and possibly attaining Enlightenment in this life. If I acquire some championships in the process, then so it is. However, for now, I will be content spreading my way of life to open minds, even if I must pry them open myself.

[A small sneer crosses Miura's face, before he clears it up and bows again, taking his seat.]

[Thomas reappears at the podium.]

BT: Thank you Norihiko, and best of luck for your match tonight.

[He bows in the monk's direction.]

BT: Now, if you'll allow me, I'd like to introduce a young man who comes to us from one of our sister promotions in the United States, Pro Wrestling Wars. It gives me great pleasure to invite Tate Monroe to speak.

[Stepping up to the podium is a young American man, with short black gelled hair and a pair of glasses adorning his clean-cut face. He wears a nice black dress suit with blue shirt and tie, but more noticeably also bears a gleaming championship title belt adorning his right shoulder.

He retrieves a small piece of paper from his jacket pocket, unfolding it as he nods in Billy Thomas’ direction.]

MONROE: Thank you, Mr. Thomas, for the gracious introduction and also for the opportunity to be here today and to compete in a fine organization like Dream Fujin. I’ve always been a firm believer that you never stop learning in life, and I’ve found that statement is as true for the sport of professional wrestling as it is anywhere. There are a great deal of different styles and techniques in this sport, many of which I have yet to encounter, but I’ve always been intrigued by the Japanese style of Puroresu and I believe this will be a great opportunity for me to further my professional education and perhaps even to absorb some elements of that style into my own.

[He folds the paper back up and slips it back into his jacket. Smiling pleasantly, he turns an expectant look at the gathered reporters, who take their cue.]

Sports Nippon reporter: Tell us about the championship belt that you carry... do you intend to defend it here in Dream Fujin?

[Monroe turns a glance at the title belt.]

MONROE: This is the Huron Valley Wrestling Submission Championship, a title that I won only recently in the United States and in fact is the first of my short career.

[He smiles.]

MONROE: As for defending my title in Dream Fujin, I’m afraid there have been no such discussions at this point. But my feeling is that as a champion I should be a representative of my company at all times. It’s a duty I take very seriously, and if by chance I’m fortunate enough to win a championship here in Dream Fujin during my stay, then of course I would give that title the exact same respect while in the United States. But unfortunately, to return to your question, I’m afraid at this point it’s basically just for show.

[He chuckles, and then nods to another reporter.]

Sankei Sports reporter: So you hope to challenge for one of the Dream Fujin championships during your tour?

MONROE: Well, I hope first to simply have a successful tour, and to repay Mr. Thomas for the faith he has shown in allowing me this opportunity. But having said that, [he smiles again] I _did_ happen to notice an opening for a shot at Usagi Yoshida’s Independent Super Lightweight title on the final show of this tour, so who knows? If I impress enough with my performances, especially I believe the one opportunity I will have to compete against Usagi Yoshida himself, then of course I’m hopeful that I may just earn that title match for myself.

[Once again he adds a pleasant smile, glancing in Billy Thomas’ direction before turning back to the reporters.]

Weekly Fight reporter: You mentioned the name of Usagi Yoshida... are there any other Dream Fujin wrestlers that you are looking forward to facing?

MONROE: Hmm, I would say... Griffin James of course is a well-known name in my country, but no... nobody in particular. I’m more looking forward to the experience as a whole.

Nikkan Sports reporter: What about another fellow American, Eric Dane? He will be your tag team partner throughout your tour... what are your thoughts on him?

MONROE: I’m somewhat familiar of course with Mr. Dane’s credentials, and I understand that he’s a multiple-time former world champion. So with that in mind I’m sure he should make for a fine tag team partner.

[He nods.]

MONROE: I appreciate the opportunity to answer your questions today. Thank you for your time.

[Monroe nods curtly and steps down, returning to his seat.]

[Thomas returns to the podium.]

BT: Thank you Mr Monroe, and to you I also offer the best of luck. Well, that concludes our business here today... until tonight's show!
