Hakata Star Lane, Fukuoka Saturday, January 14, 2006 2400 Fans - Full House - The show opened with Billy Thomas introducing all of the competitors in the Fubuki Heatwave tour, which starts tonight! Each wrestler came out and stood in the ring, facing the crowd, with Independent Super-Lightweight champion Usagi Yoshida walking out last with his belt. Then Thomas yelled "IKU ZE!", a Japanese slang term meaning "Let's Go!", and streamers came flying into the ring from all sides! The wrestlers filed out to the backstage area. Match One: Bombay Kaijin [7'23" G Spot Fantasy] Tornado JINTEI - This was Kaijin's proper debut in Dream Fujin, after he impressed in the battle royal at "Merry Goldness from Green Dome". Kaijin is quite the sight - with his shaggy white hair and goatee, baby blue parachute pants and various tattoos. JINTEI offered a handshake, but Kaijin responded by blowing blue mist right into his face! Uncle Dai warned Kaijin but allowed the match to continue. Kaijin controlled the advantage for most of the match, JINTEI playing the underdog and using his impressive speed to come back at various points. Kaijin showed that he can move as well, hitting a beautiful Asai moonsault and a slingshot guillotine facedriver, while also mixing in suplexes (overhead belly to belly) and a couple of submission moves (including a single leg Boston crab). Around five minutes into the match, Kaijin locked on a jujigatame around the ringpost, which drew a surprised response from the crowd. Referee Uncle Dai forced him to break the hold, and Kaijin lost his temper, yelling at the referee and threatening to hit him. This allowed JINTEI to come back, almost getting the win with a springboard blockbuster-type move. Kaijin was clearly frustrated by the referee, but regained his focus by moving out of the way of JINTEI's Force 1 Tornado (Corkscrew somersault senton), then hitting a bridged dragon suplex, which got 2 1/2. Kaijin followed up with a crucifix powerbomb-lift into a sitout faceslam, the move he calls the G Spot Fantasy, which got the 1-2-3. Match Two: Apollo Kid III{x} & Kyuki Shonjo [9'04" Huracanrana] Hasselhoff SE & British Steel{o} - Three rookies (Shonjo, Hasselhoff and Steel) and one slightly more experienced wrestler (Apollo) took to the ring for this tagteam match, and unfortunately it showed at various times. But despite some rookie mistakes and a general lack of direction, this match was still a crowd pleaser, mostly due to the antics of Hasselhoff and Steel, who made quite a strange pairing - Hasselhoff with his Baywatch speedo trunks and curly wig sewn into a David Hasselhoff mask, and Steel with his Judas Priest t-shirt and mullet wig sewn into his mask. Maybe they should call these two Wigs R Us or something. The white-masked Apollo took Steel to the mat right from the get-go, and the match stayed down there with plenty of matwork and lucha-style submission holds, as Apollo and Shonjo tagged in and out. Steel looked in trouble early when Apollo locked him in an STF, but Hasselhoff broke it up. The second phase of the match kicked in at about the six minute mark, as Hasselhoff and Steel made the comeback, and the momentum picked up. Nearfalls mixed with indy-style high-flying spots took us to the finish, as Apollo Kid hit a springboard rana on British Steel and held him down for the 3 count. Match Three: Norihiko Miura [6'11" Kneebar] Kurogama - After the entrance of the bear-masked Kurogama, the fans were respectfully quiet as the newest Dream Fujin signing made his debut entrance. Coming out to "Certain Victory Lotus Sutra Tune" by Yasushi Ishii, Miura wore simple white karate Gi-style pants and matching white boots, and ink on his back - at his shoulderblades, the word "dukkha", or suffering, and beneath it, in Japanese written language and style, vertical lines, read from right-to-left, the first Noble Truth of Buddhism, "All Life is Suffering". Quite a sight. As opposed to the usual spotty lucharesu style found in most DF matches, this was a slow and methodical contest. Kurogama isn't fast at the best of times, and Miura at no time tried to speed things up, as he basically squashed his opponent using an offence based around suplexes and submission holds. Miura took out Kurogama's right knee with a dragonscrew legwhip inside of the first minute, and concentrated on it for the rest of the match, almost getting a tapout courtesy of a figure four leglock at around the three minute mark. Kurogama made the ropes, but was clearly in trouble. Miura dropped a series of kneedrops onto the hurt knee, sending Kurogama into agony. Kurogama tried to fight back, hitting a hard lariat, then hooking on his patented bearhug, but his knee gave out. Miura followed up with a northern lights suplex, and out of nowhere transitioned right into a kneebar, forcing Kurogama to tap out. Afterwards, Miura knelt on the mat and seemed to meditate as the fans applauded his victory. Match Four: Eric Dane[NEXT] & Tate Monroe[PWW]{x} [14'12" Textbook Finish] Griffin James & Crazy Bastard Cop{o} - The night of debuts continued with the first appearance of touring Americans Dane and Monroe, going up against regular teammates James and CBC. Monroe has a solid, amateur-wrestlingesque physique, while Dane looks like your typical American heel - black and silver tights with “The Only Star” written on the seat of the pants and exploding stars down each leg, a leather jacket, sunglasses and ponytail. Much like the previous match, this one had large chunks of mat and technical wrestling in the opening stages, with Monroe showing that he is clearly one of the best technicians going around. The fans loved it, applauding the variety of holds and moves in Monroe's repertoire, and clearly getting in behind the young American. Dane and James also showed their technical wrestling skills, but it was these two who changed the flow of the match, both men becoming frustrated and resorting to a good old-fashioned slugfest. Dane held his own for a while, but then learned that brawling with a member of the James clan is not a good idea, as Griffin stunned him with a flurry of _hard_ elbows. The last couple of minutes of the match were insanely exciting, with big move after big move and nearfall after nearfall. James almost finished off Monroe with a _stiff_ Yakuza kick, but Dane saved, then hit James with an Exploder '98. James kicked out, and Dane went for his Stardriver, a stalling brainbuster DDT, only to have James escape and take Dane down with his Legendary Crossface. Dane was in big trouble, but Monroe made the save. He slapped on a Dragon Sleeper/Chickenwing combo with Body Scissors, but CBC made the save. With Dane and James now outside the ring, CBC hit Monroe with a powerslam, then went for a lariat, but Monroe countered with a backslide for 2 1/2. Monroe hit CBC with a swinging neckbreaker, then finished him off with his twisting fisherman buster, which he calls the Textbook Finish, for the 1-2-3. As CBC was attended to by ringside attendants, Monroe showed respect to Griffin James, shaking his hand. Dane seemed hesitant to follow suit, but finally did, the fans applauding the show of sportsmanship. Match Five - Main Event: Darkness Kitty!, Super Orange Panda & Nobutaka Takase{x} [23'38" Springboard double foot stomp] Shoji Tamura, El Hijo del Super Macho[ILL]{o} & Jeff Kujawa[Free] - The Trinity X titles weren't up for grabs in this match, which featured two more new faces to Dream Fujin, although Jeff Kujawa is certainly not a new face to fans around the world, thanks to his high profile stints in RCW and GLCW. He was greeted with a loud ovation from the fans. The luchador, El Hijo del Super Macho, wrestled briefly in RCW under his real name, MJ Reyes, but since returning to Mexico he has taken on the mask made famous by his father. Kitty! and EHdSM started things off for their respective teams, and engaged in a spot of lucha libre, with plenty of armdrags, dives and the odd weird submission hold thrown in. Tagged in next was Panda and Tamura, with Tamura dominating the furry orange guy. Kujawa and Takase were in last, engaging in a slugfest, before Kujawa raked the eyes and hit a picture-perfect belly-to-belly suplex, reminding everyone that he's the brother of the suplex machine himself, Shane Destiny. Takase evened things up though, with an eye rake of his own, then dropkicked Kujawa from the ring, before hitting a rare pescado onto him! As Takase got to his feet, Tamura came rushing around from the other side of the ringside area, and hit him with a spin kick, but a split second later Panda came flying out with a bullet tope! The fans were loving it, and the cheers got even louder as Reyes joined in the fun, hitting a corkscrew plancha onto the group of wrestlers recovering at ringside. That left Kitty! alone in the ring, and the fans started chanting "KIT-TY! KIT-TY!". The heartless masked one didn't disappoint, as he nailed a massive no touch swanton suicida onto Reyes! Another exciting sequence happened when Panda found himself alone in the ring with all three of his opponents, who fired into him with a series of corner whips - Kujawa with a jumping corner lariat, EHdSM with a running leg lariat, and then Tamura following up with a rolling Kouppo Kick in the corner! Kitty! broke up the count, but was tossed from the ring again, as Tamura and Kujawa then engaged in a spot of "I can hit this guy harder than you can", Tamura unleashing his bone-rattling kicks and Kujawa using knees and punches. Takase and Kitty! turned the tide with stereo springboard dropkicks. The Trinity-X champions were very nearly upset when Kujawa hit his wrist-clutch fisherman's buster, which he calls the Algorithm, on Panda. Somehow Panda kicked out, but Kujawa and Tamura sat him up top, then both climbed up, looking for a double superplex. Before they could get hold of Panda though, Takase and Kitty! came in and hit both of them sunset flips, getting 2 1/2 on both pinfall attempts. Kitty! and Kujawa took their fight to the outside, as did Takase and Tamura, leaving EHdSM and Panda alone in the ring. Panda was in bad shape, and EHdSM took advantage, hitting a shining wizard, then locking on a figure four leglock. Panda looked ready to tap, but suddenly Takase appeared on the apron. He springboarded in, landing on EHdSM's gut with both feet in a vicious stomp, drawing a huge "OOOHHHH" from the crowd. Takase covered as Tamura dived in to try to make the save... but was blocked by Panda. 1-2-3, and it was over. Kitty!, Takase and Panda celebrated, as Tamura stood over EHdSM, shaking his head angrily before leaving with Kujawa. Overall comments: Things have really changed since the last tour. Gone are the likes of TOORIMA, Kota and KEOKI, as well as the comedians Busshu and Burair. In their place are a batch of new faces (Bombay Kaijin, Norihiko Miura, Hasselhoff SE and British Steel) and a handful of touring wrestlers, who so far look good, although it will probably take them a few matches to get acclimatised to lucharesu style. This show had a lot more technical and mat wrestling than is usual in Dream Fujin, but the fans seemed to enjoy it just as much. The absence of Genji Gempachi is a blow in terms of drawing power and storylines, but the likes of Yoshida, James, Kitty!, Takase and Tamura continue to be the stars of the show. © Dream Fujin, 2006.
