News Central Monday January 16, 2006 ========================= # Following his team’s victory at the opening show of the Fubuki Heatwave tour, young American gaijin Tate Monroe continued his efforts to endear himself to the Japanese press by taking questions from reporters present at Hakata Star Lane. Here are some highlights: On his debut performance, and picking up the victory over Crazy Bastard Cop: “I was definitely happy with my performance. It’s somewhat of a new experience for me in all honesty, competing in a tag team environment, that’s not something I’ve really done much of in my career thus far. But I thought I performed well and was ecstatic at being able to earn the victory for my team.” On competing against the most popular U.S. import to Dream Fujin, Griffon James: “About what I expected. It was a tough match, but I was pleased with how it turned out.” On the positive response he received from the fans: “I think they appreciate talent when they see it, and someone who’s out there to work hard and compete hard, and not necessarily just to ‘entertain.’ It’s not something you always find in American wrestling, as I’m sure you probably know. So yes, I was very happy with the response I received.” On the rumors that the shot at the Independent Super Lightweight title listed for the finale show would be up for grabs to any performer in Dream Fujin, whether it be home-grown talent or those simply on tour with the company: “That would be great, and I certainly hope it’s true. As I said at the press conference, that’s something I’m very interested in pursuing, and I hope at the end of the day that my performances are enough to earn that shot. It’ll certainly make the opportunities I have to compete against Usagi Yoshida himself all the more interesting!” And finally, on his impressions of Dream Fujin thus far: “I’m enjoying it. As I said earlier, it’s nice to perform in front of fans who truly appreciate great technical wrestling. I’m sure I’ll take away a lot from my time in Dream Fujin, but at the same time I think also I bring something different than these fans are possibly used to seeing from most of their favorite wrestlers, so I’m hopeful this will be a rewarding and beneficial experience for everyone involved.” Monroe then wrapped up the session by thanking the reporters for their time, as he was hoping to get an early night in preparation for the remainder of the tour ahead. # News has come in from the US that one of Dream Fujin's sister organisations under the NEO-International umbrella - Pro Wrestling Wars - has gone into hiatus due to the ill health of its owner. Tate Monroe, who is wrestling on tour in Dream Fujin as a PWW representative, will stay on the tour but from now on will be billed as a representative of Huron Valley Wrestling, another US company he works for. © Dream Fujin, 2006. |
