Okayama Orange Hall, Okayama Tuesday, January 17, 2006 1500 Fans - No Vacancy Match One: Hasselhoff SE{x} & British Steel [11'32" Cradle] Kurogama & Tornado JINTEI{o} - This was a high energy opening sprint. While there was nothing in the way of psychology, all four wrestlers worked their asses off - even the normally-lumbering Kurogama seemed to have more vitality tonight. Before the match, Steel and Hasselhoff got on the microphone, and treated the fans to a song! Hasselhoff broke into a very bad, broken English rendition of "I Believe", the Theme song from Baywatch, before holding the microphone so British Steel (he of the mullet wig and Judas Priest t-shirt) could do an air guitar solo, complete with guitar noises. Hasselhoff got the win when he rolled through a powerbomb, cradling JINTEI for the 1-2-3. Match Two: Griffin James & Crazy Bastard Cop{x} [13'25" Powerbomb] Apollo Kid III and Kyuki Shonjo{o} - After losing two falls to Tate Monroe on consecutive cards, CBC got some confidence and momentum back by pinning the rookie Shonjo in this tagteam match. But the real story of the match was the emergence of Shonjo as a crowd favourite underdog. The greenhorn has slowly but surely been getting better with each match, and the fans have also started to take to the young man. Shonjo was the proverbial whipping boy in this match, taking long periods of punishment from James and CBC, but also showing a lot of fighting spirit. His refusal to surrender was appreciated by the crowd, who actually started chanting "SHON-JO! SHON-JO!" a couple of times. Of course, they were also firmly in behind James and CBC as well. Shonjo fought with heart, but in the end couldn't answer the count after taking three powerbombs in a row from Crazy Bastard Cop. Match Three: Darkness Kitty! [10'31" DK Suplex] Uchu Koujin Red - This was complete comedy from start to finish, and the fans loved it. In the opening minutes, whenever Kitty! would try to get a hold of Uchu, the "alien" would scurry backwards out of the ring to safety. He did it a few too many times though, before scurrying backwards... and sliding with one leg either side of the ringpost. Ouch! Another funny moment came when Uchu and Kitty! were battling outside the ring, and Kitty! was knocked down after running into the ringpost. Uchu was handed a Hello Kitty! lunchbox by a ringside fan, and looked ready to blast it over Kitty!'s head, but then opened the lunchbox and pulled out... lunch! Uchu slid back into the ring and started having a picnic, sitting there and concentrating on peeling an orange with his hands. Kitty! recovered and came back in, as Uchu looked ready to eat the orange - only his mask has no mouthhole! So instead he threw it at Kitty!, hitting him square in the face. Kitty! wiped it off and walked forward, ready to kill Uchu, but the alien held up the lunchbox. Kitty! saw the image of his non-evil Sanrio equivalent, and went into a rage. He grabbed the lunchbox and started to kick and stomp on it, which allowed Uchu to blindside him. The end came via Kitty!'s half-tiger, half-leg clutch suplex, the Darkness Kitty! Suplex. Match Four: Tate Monroe[HVW] & El Hijo del Super Macho[ILL]{x} [9'49" Top rope reverse huracanrana] Nobutaka Takase & Super Orange Panda{o} - The Dream Fujin vs Touring Gaijins tagteam theme continued from the last two shows, with Monroe pairing up with EHdSM for the first time to take on two-thirds of the Trinity X champions. Unfortunately, Takase and Panda seemed disinterested - you could almost say they were phoning it in for this match. EHdSM bounced around the ring doing all sorts of lucha-style armdrags and dives, including a swank no hands tope, while Monroe tried his best to give the crowd a good match. However, for the first time we saw the HVW Submission champion lose his cool and calm demenour - he became frustrated when engaged in an exchange of mat moves with Panda, who briefly showed up Monroe. This didn't go down well with Monroe, who clearly didn't like being shown up by a comedy wrestler, and became aggressive. Gone were the smiles and sportsmanship, as Monroe resorted to closed-fist punches and brawling. Takase dropkicked Monroe from the ring and then pescadoed onto him, while Panda set up EHdSM for a superplex. But EHdSM fought him off, then lept up and landed on Panda's shoulders in a rana position, but backwards. He then took Panda down with an awesome reverse huracanrana from the top, and covered for the 1-2-3. Match Five - Main Event: "Pink Spider" Usagi Yoshida, Jeff Kujawa[Free] & Kotaro Shimita [18'18" Disqualification] Shoji Tamura, Bombay Kaijin & Eric Dane[NEXT] - The fans were excited for this main event, mainly because of the teaming up of their champion, Yoshida, with his old friend Kujawa. Throw in the rookie phenom (Tamura), a high profile American (Dane) and a couple of up-and-comers (Kaijin and Shimita), and there were high expectations for a good match. The fans got what they were after, as all six men put on one helluva match. Even Shimita, who is still recovering from a debilitating injury, bumped for all he was worth. The best exchanges came between Tamura and Kujawa, who basically tried to out-stiff each other. We're talking _brutal_. The crowd's clear favourite was undoubtedly Yoshida, who seemed to be enjoying the chance to team with Kujawa, the two combining for a few doubleteam moves. Shimita was essentially taken out of action at around the 12 minute mark, as he was tied in the tree of woe and then blasted with sliding dropkicks from his three opponents, accentuated by a running, jumping dropkick to the gut by Tamura. From then on it was up to Kujawa and Yoshida to battle two-against-three for a few minutes, until Kujawa was sent from the ring. Then it was three-on-one as Tamura and his teammates ganged up on Yoshida, really taking it to the champ. The fans chanted "YO-SHI-DA" until he made the hot comeback, dropkicking Dane from the ring, hitting Kaijin with a DDT and then hitting his multiple-revolution corbata on Tamura. Yoshida then hit Tamura with a tombstone piledriver, but the Prince of Torment kicked out. Kaijin came back in and blindsided Yoshida. As Tamura trapped Yoshida in a corner and laid into him with vicious kicks, Kaijin went out and got a table, sliding it into the ring. Referee Uncle Dai objected, threatening to disqualify Tamura and Kaijin - so Tamura pushed the elderly official down, bringing a barrage of jeers from the crowd! Tamura and Kaijin set up the table, then put Yoshida on the top turnbuckle. They prepared to superplex Yoshida onto the table, but the champ suddenly fought back. He kicked Tamura away, then lept off the corner and took Kaijin down with a huracanrana, as the crowd went wild! Next he ducked a kick from Tamura and took him down with a DDT, as Kujawa reappeared in the ring. Kujawa pointed to the top rope, urging Yoshida to finish Tamura with his corkscrew moonsault, the US*AG~ISM. Yoshida nodded, grinning, then climbed up... when something shocking happened! Kujawa ran over and nailed Yoshida from behind, causing him to fall crotchfirst onto the top turnbuckle. As the crowd reacted with shock, Kujawa climbed up to the middle turnbuckle, hooked Yoshida in a rear waistlock... and then release German suplexed him through the table! Needless to say, the crowd was not happy. Yoshida lay unmoving in the table debris, as Kujawa got back to his feet, an angry look on his face. Tamura stared him down... then he and Kujawa shared a smile, and a high five, bringing even more shock and horror from the crowd! Kaijin joined them, and now the three of them high-fived! With the crowd booing like crazy, Tamura, Kaijin and Kujawa posed over the fallen figure of the Independent Super-Lightweight champion, big grins on their faces. Shimita came back in to try to make the save, but was easily swatted aside by a Tamura kick. Then it was back to posing for the heels. The crowd went nuts as Griffin James and Crazy Bastard Cop came hurtling down the aisle and into the ring. They laid into Tamura, Kaijin and Kujawa, overwhelming them despite the numbers - until Kujawa came back at them with a piece of table wood, waffling both James and CBC and laying them out. Tamura, Kaijin and Kujawa put the boots into four men on the canvas as the boos rained down, and then they went back to posing. The official decision was announced as a disqualification - Uncle Dai DQed Tamura for hitting him. Overall comments: Up until tonight, Dream Fujin has relied more on straight-out athleticism than angles, but a big one was pulled out of hat in Okayama. Jeff Kujawa's heel turn and betrayal of his friend Yoshida was shocking and unexpected, as was the formation of the company's first real heel faction.
