News Central Saturday January 21, 2006 ========================== # Following his team’s defeat at the Tsuyama City Gymnasium show on 1/18, an angry Tate Monroe has some choice words regarding his partner in the match, fellow American Eric Dane: “That’s the third time in as many matches I’ve had to carry his half of the team as well as my own, and quite frankly I’m getting sick of it. Maybe he’s just here to ride his reputation all the way to an easy paycheck, but that doesn’t cut it... especially when he puts a loss on MY record just when they’re about to decide who gets the title match! Tell me, is it fair that I come here and I give one hundred percent every single night I wrestle... and for what? Now I may miss out on a title shot I deserve just because I’m saddled with some primadonna has-been for a partner who’s been phoning it it since the day he got here? No, it’s not, and I’ll tell you this -- I’m tired of it. He’d better get his act together, and quickly, because if he costs us the match on Saturday against Yoshida and James then he and I are going to have some serious problems. He may call himself the “Only Star” but there’s clearly only one star in this team, and it’s not him. MY star is on the rise, his may be falling fast but I’ll be damned if I’ll let him drag me down with him!” Monroe then cut the interview short and apparently left the Tsuyama City Gymnasium before the close of the show, surprising one un-named Dream Fujin official who had noted the young gaijin’s usual tendency to closely watch every match on the card. # Dream Fujin's camera crew was sent to Grand Dragon Dojo, in the heart of Kawasaki: [Inside the gymnasium. Fromn the ceiling, heavy bags hang in various spots throughout the room. A rack of free-weights sits unused at the moment in the corner. A wrestling ring stands in the center of the room, surrounded by a mock wrestling arena: false broadcasting tables, crowd barriers, and a row of seats on each side. Near the back of the room atop a couple steps is a long bench, upon which sits "Prince of Torment" Shoji Tamura, dressed in a white judo gui, thumbing through a magazine. Next to him is a roll of scotch tape and a pair of scissors. He looks up, noticing the camera, and begins to speak, a devilish grin crossing his lips...] ST: Welcome. I'm just... reading. [Shoji loses the wicked smile and casts his glance back down upon his magazine. He turns a page... and another. Nods, picks up the scissors, then delicately cuts a page from the binding, careful not to tear it beyond recognition. Putting the scissors down, he snatches the roll of tape, stands, and begins walking about the room, weaving inbetween the heavy bags. He's sure to hide the front of the page from camera's view.] ST: Big night tomorrow night. Mr. President announces an opponent for Usagi Yoshida. How I'd love it to be me. Could you imagine? An 18-year-old champion? [Laughter bubbles in his belly and momentarily bursts from within, but Tamura stifles it very quickly.] ST: Mr. President can't. He doesn't want to. Mr. President prefers things light and sweet. WELL I AM NOT INTERESTED IN LIGHT AND SWEET! [A sudden eruption, but Tamura catches himself. You can almost hear him say "It isn't proper" to himself. And now he is calm.] ST: I especially do not like bubble gum. [Finally, Tamura reaches a heavy bag that suits his fancy. He caresses it with a finger, taps it with the heel of his palm as a litmus test for durability... then does something strange. He unrolls the tape quite a bit, cuts it with his tooth and begins taping the magazing page to the heavy bag. The top done, he unrolls another long strand of tape and attaches the bottom of the page to the bag as well.] ST: My guess is the title shot goes to, hm... Griffin James ... or ... Darkness Kitty! Fans love them. Mr. President loves them. He simply cannot give me the shot. [Tamura steps away from the heavy bag, assumes a ready pose and breathes deeply through his nose. In ... and out. Then, he unleashes a fury of kicks and palm strikes like you've never seen before!!] *THWAP* *THWAP* *THWAP* *THUD* *THUD* *THWAP* *THWAP* *THWAP* *THUD* *THUD* *THWAP* *THUD* *THUD* *THUD* [AND THEN...!] **____________THWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPP____________** [After that sound, everything else seems almost inaudible, but we do hear the squeaking of the heavy bag nearly flying off it's hinge lightly in the background. The bag, still flying through the air, from one side to the other, horizontal at it's peak, finally begins to slow down. Tamura stands staring at the bag, his focus unwavering, and his gaze _intense._ As the bag now comes to a stop, the camera zooms in closer... closer... closer on the magazine page. It's now clear what the picture is... The face of Dream Fujin's Super Independent Light Heavyweight Champion Usagi Yoshida. It is torn to shreds.] ST: No, he cannot. He wouldn't want this to happen, would he? [Tamura breathes in hard and audibly through his nose, like a bull. Fade.] © Dream Fujin, 2006. |
