Hiroshima Green Arena Small Arena, Hiroshima Sunday, January 22 1800 Fans - Full House Match One: Hasselhoff SE & British Steel [10'00" Time limit draw] Kurogama & Tornado JINTEI - The undercard tagteam rivalry continued with these teams meeting for the third time on the tour (Hasselhoff and Steel winning the previous two). JINTEI was at his spotty best, throwing in moves like a springboard corkscrew plancha and a dragonrana but typically not showing any psychology or real selling. Hasselhoff and Steel continued to entertain the crowd, who particularly loved it when they did their Baywatch Run spot (Steel playing the Baywatch theme song on a small stereo while Hasselhoff ran slow-motion across the ring with a lifeguard tube, imitating the opening to the TV show). Kurogama stunk up the ring as per usual. The match was closely fought for the most part, with the time limit running out during a series of nearfalls. Match Two: Norihiko Miura{x} & Uchu Koujin Red [8'53" Sutra Tune] Apollo Kid III & Kyuki Shonjo{o} - The wrestling monk's star continues to grow. He showed in this match that he's got what it takes to succeed even when he's stuck teaming with a googly-eyed "alien". Shonjo and Apollo have formed a cohesive team after being in the ring many times before, and that showed in the early going, as they dominated Uchu. But whenever Miura was in the ring, he showed his class - basically winning this match single-handed. He used his brutal Fireman's carry into a double-knee gutbuster on Shonjo, and almost made Apollo tap out to a figure four leglock. The end came when Uchu and Apollo were battling at ringside, and Miura took Shonjo down with a leg lariat. Shonjo bounced to his feet and blindly swung a chop at Miura, who ducked and drove his shoulder into Shonjo's midsection, before taking him over with a Northern Lights Suplex, transitioning smoothly into a crucifix kneebar (a transition move he calls the Sutra Tune). Shonjo fought it for a few seconds, but then tapped out. Match Three - Trinity X Championship: Darkness Kitty!, Nobutaka Takase{x} & Super Orange Panda [15'34" Elbowdrop] Shoji Tamura, Jeff Kujawa[Free] & Bombay Kaijin{o} (2nd Defence) - Coming off their first successful title defence last night, the Rebels without a Pulse were faced with a far stronger challenge tonight, in the form of Dream Fujin's newest faction. Not only was the challenging team strong on paper, but it also contained an angry "Prince of Torment" - Tamura is upset at being overlooked for the next Independent Super-Lightweight title shot. The heels wasted no time, attacking during the introductions of the champions and really taking it to them. They managed to isolate Darkness Kitty!, no doubt looking to weaken the Rebels' strongest point, and hit him with a series of corner charges. Kaijin then locked Kitty! in a camel clutch, before Kujawa and Tamura took turns blasting him in the face with charging dropkicks. Takase and Panda came back in to even things up, and a brawl erupted. It lasted a good six or seven minutes, the wrestlers fighting in the ring and at ringside. Order was finally restored, and the match proper began, the wrestlers pairing off for a series of one-on-one battles - first Panda-Kaijin, then Takase-Tamura, and finally Kitty!-Kujawa. Then it was all on, with neither team holding anything back. What showed through was the cohesian of the champions, who have been teaming together for at least two tours, while their opponents are new at teaming together. Panda and Kitty! in particular showed great teamwork, including an awesome German suplex-legdrop combo. Tamura hadn't cooled down any since last night's Billy Thomas announcement, as he threw extra vigour into his strikes and suplexes, looking like he legitimately wanted to cripple someone. Kujawa and Takase engaged in a battle of suplexes at one point, which Shane Destiny's little brother easily won. Overall, Kitty!, Panda, Tamura and Kujawa were awesome in this match, while Takase and Kaijin's work was uninspired and at a level below the other four. The end came with Kitty! and Kaijin battling in the ring. Kaijin stunned Kitty! with a kick then ran the ropes, but Takase nailed him with a knee to the back through the ropes. Kitty! then sent Kaijin into the canvas with the Cat Nap (Final Cut), moving out of the way as Takase made his zombie moaning noises before leaping off the top rope with an elbowdrop, covering for the 1-2-3. As the champions celebrated, Tamura's fury hit a boiling point. He charged and absolutely _decimated_ Darkness Kitty! with a thrust kick, bringing a chorus of boos from the crowd. Kujawa joined in, taking Takase down with a lariat, before Tamura decked Panda with another kick, which sent him flying from the ring. Kujawa stomped Takase out of the ring, and he and Tamura turned their attention to Kitty!. Tamura laid into Kitty! with more kicks, then locked on his painful Reverse Kneebar Chickenwing submission hold. Ring attendants came into the ring to try to help Kitty!, but were easily fended off by Kujawa, as the fans continued to jeer. After around half a minute of locking Kitty! in the painful move, Tamura finally released it and left the Trinity X champion lying in agony on the mat, climbing back to his feet and glaring angrily at the crowd with Kujawa and Kaijin by his side. Match Four - Main Event: Tate Monroe[HVW]{x}, Eric Dane[NEXT] & El Hijo del Super Macho[ILL] [21'27" Textbook Finish] Usagi Yoshida{o}, Griffin James & Crazy Bastard Cop - For the second night in a row the crowd were fired up in anticipation of a sneak preview of the upcoming title match between Yoshida and Monroe. The fans were firmly behind Yoshida, but Monroe also received a good amount of support from the crowd. The early moments were mostly mat-wrestling. The crowd roared their disapproval when, at around the five minute mark, three figures came walking down the aisle. It was Shoji Tamura, Jeff Kujawa and Bombay Kaijin, fresh off their demolition job on Darkness Kitty! They slowly walked down to the ring and then all pulled up chairs, seemingly taking ringside position to watch the match. The action continued with El Hijo del Super Macho and Griffin James in the ring. EHdSM ducked a lariat from James and took him down with rolling headscissors. EHdSM went for an Asai moonsault, but James countered by letting him fall into a gutbuster. James went out to the apron and then springboarded back in, but EHdSM dropkicked him out of the air, covering for 2. James was groggy, so EHdSM ran the ropes, but rebounded right into a big Yakuza kick, James covering for 2! James then nailed the luchador with a gutwrench powerbomb, pushing his shoulders into the mat for 2, Dane making the save. James dropped Dane with a flurry of elbows, then headed to the top, but Monroe pushed him right off, James falling to the arena floor heavily. CBC rushed in, but right into a boot to the gut, Monroe underhooking both arms and lifting CBC up, dropping him into a backbreaker. Dane appeared back in the ring, and he and Monroe hit CBC with a double back elbow. Dane ws tripped running the ropes, and CBC caught Monroe with a Rydeen bomb for 2 1/2! CBC went up top and landed a top rope legdrop for 2, Dane saving again! Yoshida entered and started trading punches with Dane. After a series of reversals, Dane caught Yoshida with a reverse low blow out of a waistlock, but then ran into a superkick! Dane bounced off the ropes though, and lariated Yoshida down with hard impact. A second lariat, and the cover... 2 1/2! Dane planted Yoshida with a powerbomb for 2, James saving! EHdSM went up top, but Dane bounced off the ropes, causing his own partner to be crotched on the top turnbuckle. Yoshida charged over and springboarded onto EHdSM's shoulders, taking him down with an avalanche-style huracanrana! The Fujingun (Dream Fujin Regular Army) team then hit big moves one after the other - Yoshida with a tombstone piledriver on EHdSM, CBC with a powerbomb on Dane, and James with the Ego Crusher on Monroe, all covering... the referee reaching a triple two count before being pulled out of the ring by Kujawa! The fans booed as Kujawa feigned innocence. Yoshida tombstone piledrove Monroe and headed up top, but while Tamura argued with Uncle Dai, Kujawa jumped up and pushed the champ down to the floor, Yoshida hitting hard and clutching at one of his knees. Kujawa rolled Yoshida back in, where Monroe and EHdSM hit him with a double backdrop suplex. Dane rolled Yoshida to his feet and then hit a spike powerbomb, for 2, James and CBC diving in to make desperate saves! CBC ducked a lariat from Dane... which hit Uncle Dai! A rare ref bump in Dream Fujin. With Uncle Dai out cold, Kujawa, Tamura and Kaijin sprang into action - Tamura nailing James with a roundhouse kick, Kaijin lariating CBC and Kujawa dragging a chair into the ring... and clocking Yoshida with it, to a barrage of boos! Monroe rolled Yoshida up with a majistral cradle as Uncle Dai made the count... 2 3/4! Monroe dragged Yoshida up as Kujawa stood on the apron, chair still in hand. Monroe then whipped Yoshida towards Kujawa, but Usagi stopped and kicked the chair into Kujawa's face, sending him crashing to the floor to a big cheer from the crowd! But Yoshida then turned around, only to get kicked in the gut by Monroe, and in a flash he was being sent into the canvas with the twisting fisherman buster that Monroe calls the "Textbook Finish". Monroe covered, getting the 3, and the big upset win over Yoshida. The announcement was made, but much like the preceding match, the action wasn't over. Kujawa started to stomp away at the fallen Yoshida, Monroe joining in as James and CBC tried to make the save, but were held off by Kaijin, Tamura and Dane. Only EHdSM refused to join in, as he walked away. It was a no-win situation for the Fujingun members, who were outnumbered five to three. Monroe applied his painful dragon sleeper/chickenwing hold, complete with bodyscissors, while Kujawa stomped away at Yoshida's defenseless torso, the fans booing and jeering with displeasure. Just when it looked like Yoshida might be put out of business for good, a HUGE cheer went up, as the Rebels Without a Pulse charged down to make the save, Darkness Kitty looking bloody and sore, but still leading his team into the fray. They sent the heels scrambling from the ring and after a few moments helped Yoshida to his feet, as James and CBC also returned to a vertical base. James seemed wary of Kitty!, but the two factions stood side-by-side, glaring at Tamura, Kujawa, Kaijin, Monroe and Dane as they stood in the aisle. Overall comments: What a night! The biggest talking point is Tate Monroe's pinfall victory over Usagi Yoshida, which must surely give him a psychological edge going into their title fight in just under a week's time. Taking in the bigger picture, it seems that a line has definitely been drawn in the sand. On one side is Usagi Yoshida and his fellow members of Dream Fujin's regular army (ie the guys who aren't part of any faction but who fight in the name of the company) - Griffin James and Crazy Bastard Cop - who the media are dubbing Fujingun, plus the Rebels Without A Pulse - Darkness Kitty!, Nobutaka Takase and Super Orange Panda. On the other side is the new, as yet unnamed, heel faction made up of Shoji Tamura, Jeff Kujawa and Bombay Kaijin, plus Tate Monroe (who seems to be taking sides only because of his focus on winning the title off Yoshida) and Eric Dane. Tamura/Kujawa/Kaijin made it perfectly clear tonight that they're not going to sit back and wait for their opportunities to come - they're going to do whatever it takes to succeed, no matter who gets in their way. We're in for some very interesting times ahead! © Dream Fujin, 2006.
