News Central Monday February 6, 2006 ========================== # Dream Fujin bosses are said to be very pleased with the business that was done on the last tour, Fubuki Heatwave. They are also said to be content with the way things are going in terms of in-ring work and storylines. # Details have been released about the upcoming NEO-International World title tournament, which will be held in the United States. Dream Fujin's four representatives have learned the identities of their opponents, which are as follows: Usagi Yoshida takes on a undeniable legend, the former RCW champion, Alex Extreme; Griffin James faces NEXT representative Justin Harper; Darkness Kitty! takes on Paris LeClair of the FSW promotion; and Shoji Tamura will meet a wild-card entry, the DCWL's Skye Ashner. # The next Dream Fujin tour will be called "Heaven's on Fire", and will be comprised of 8 shows, culminating in a tour-ending Super Energy Battle TV taping at Hakata Star Lane. # Look out for a host of new faces on the next tour. Not only will a new batch of rookies be given their chance, but a handful of new masked gimmicks will also be unveiled. Sources say that Billy Thomas wants to do away with the Uchu Koujin Red (alien) and Kurogama (bear) gimmicks, putting them on the shelf like the previous Busshu the Amerika and Burair the Ingurando gimmicks. It's likely that Uchu Koujin Red will wrestle under his real name, Shiro Namiguchi, while Kurogama will switch masks (like the wrestler formerly known as Burair the Ingurando, who now wrestles as British Steel). Apparently Thomas has turned to anime for ideas - among the new gimmicks are: Racer X (based on a character from the Speed Racer cartoon); Jet Black (based on a character from the Cowboy Bebop anime); Northstar (based on the character Kenshirou Kasumi from the cartoon Fist of the Northstar); and Ultraman Zeta (based on the popular Ultraman character). Other non-anime characters are Ice Dragon, Steel Cougar and Haratake (translates as Mushroom). Thomas has announced that a "Rookie Tryout Series" will be held during the tour, after which the fans will be asked to vote on which of the new wrestlers/gimmicks they want to see become a permanent part of Dream Fujin. # A handful of Dream Fujin wrestlers competed on an Internacional Lucha Libre (ILL) card in Mexico City this past Saturday night. They were invited to take part by ILL wrestler El Hijo del Super Macho, who wrestled on the last Dream Fujin tour. With Dream Fujin being between tours, the wrestlers were given the blessing of Dream Fujin to fly into Mexico and compete for one night. It is understood that Billy Thomas was also curious so see how the Dream Fujin wrestlers would go over in Mexico, and that he is contemplating doing a Dream Fujin tour of the country sometime in the near future, an idea he may have borrowed from his late-90s employer, G-Pro, which visited Mexico on several occasions. © Dream Fujin, 2006. |
