Hakodate Citizen Gymnasium Friday February 17 1300 fans Match one - Rookie tryout series #4: Ultraman Zeta, Northstar{x} & Ice Dragon [9'44" North Fist] Haratake, Jet Black & Racer X{o} - Another rookie sprint to open the show, and while these guys aren't exactly setting the world on fire, they're starting to show signs of potential. That's probably due to being used to being in the ring together. Interestingly, the match featured one team made up of wrestlers who've been impressive on the tour so far (Ultraman, Northstar and Dragon) and one team of wrestlers who haven't (Haratake, Jet Black and Racer X). The win went to the better team, who also had the majority of the crowd support, particularly Ultraman Zeta and Ice Dragon. Northstar put his martial arts skills to full use, finishing off Racer X with his springboard punch, the North Fist. Match two - Panda Trial Series #3: Ty Walker[NEXT] [14'26" Lariat] Super Orange Panda - Panda's trial series winning streak came to a halt tonight, as he faced off against the "Black Jesus", Tyrone Walker. This was a hard-fought match, with plenty of comedic shenanigans thrown in by Panda, which seemed to puzzle Walker a bit. Panda did his "Panda sleepy" bit, feigning a dive from the ring but instead curling up for a sleep, and also gave referee Uncle Dai a hard time, biting him on the ass after a two-count. Panda hit his Pandasault for what looked like the win, but Walker kicked out just in the nick of time. He floated out of a suplex and hit an enzuigiri, then a pair of lariats for the 3-count. Panda's series tally is now 2 wins and 1 loss, with 2 matches still to come. Match three: Apollo Kid III{x}, Kyuki Shonjo & Tornado JINTEI [12'01" Tornado DDT] Shiro Namiguchi{o}, Hasselhoff SE & British Steel - This match had an interesting dynamic, in that it featured a guy trying to find his feet after swapping a masked gimmick (Uchu Koujin Red) for his own name (Shiro Namiguchi), two popular comedy acts (Hasselhoff and Steel), an up-and-coming rookie (Shonjo), a wrestler who seems destined for bigger things but hasn't quite made the step up (Apollo Kid) and a perennial undercarder (JINTEI). Kid, Shonjo, JINTEI and Namiguchi seemed focused and determined on impressing the fans, while the wigged wonders Hasselhoff and Steel were just out there to have fun, as per usual. As you would expect, there was plenty of comedy mixed into the early stages of the match, before it settled into good ol' spotfest, ending when Apollo Kid III came back against Namiguchi and hit him with a tornado DDT for the 3-count. Match four: Shoji Tamura [12'38" Wristlock submission] Crazy Bastard Cop - This was a warm-up to tomorrow night, when CBC will team with Griffin James and Apollo Kid III to challenge for the Trinity X titles, currently held by Tamura, Kujawa and Kaijin. Tamura was in a typically brutal mood, taking every opportunity to kick CBC as hard as he could in the face, head, ribs, back or anywhere else that would do damage. CBC took a lot of punishment early on, but made a comeback after Tamura missed a rolling kouppo kick outside of the ring, jarring his leg against the ring railing. CBC went right after the limb, using a variety of crazy lucha-style submission holds, as well as basic blows and moves impacting on the leg. Tamura fought back and the two traded near falls, before CBC hit a beautiful springboard enzuigiri, and looked to be closing in for the kill. However, he was tripped while running the ropes by Kujawa, who was at ringside with Kaijin, and that turned the tide back in favour of Tamura. CBC wasn't done though, and after escaping from a nasty submission hold, he bailed to ringside and grabbed his trusty hammer, running around the ring yelling "SUMASSHU", which sent the heels scattering! Junior referee Toshi Atsuka tried to wrestle the hammer from CBC's grasp, but this inadvertedly led to the official being slammed in the face by the weapon, knocking him out! This, of course, signalled the heels into action, as all three of them ganged up on CBC, hitting a series of corner charges, then Tamura applying a camel clutch while Kujawa and Kaijin took turns dropkicking him in the face. The referee recovered in time for Tamura to lock on his patented double wristlock submission hold with legscissors, and CBC had no choice but to submit. After the match, Kujawa and Kaijin got back in the ring for another beatdown of the popular masked lawman. Tamura applied a sharpshooter hold while Kujawa and Kaijin both applied Fujiwara armbar-type holds on CBC's arms. The crowd was booing and jeering, but that turned to cheers as two figures came running down the aisle. Tate Monroe and Elvis Sunday, obviously backstage warming up for their match against Kujawa and Kaijin, came charging down to the ring, ready to get their match started early! The heels bailed from the ring, allowing the two Americans to assist CBC from the ring, before the official announcements began for the next match. Match five: Tate Monroe[HVW] & Elvis Sunday[NEXT]{x} [17'27" Hawaiian Hangover] Jeff Kujawa[Free] & Bombay Kaijin{o} - There was plenty of feeling in this match, especially with Shoji Tamura hanging around at ringside. Monroe and Sunday, opponents last night and now teaming for the first time ever, seemed to have no problems adjusting as a team, despite their vastly-different styles. Monroe has quickly become one of the most popular gaijin to ever step foot on Japanese soil, while Sunday is gaining in popularity due to his fun antics and orange afro! The match started off in typical puro style, with a good long period of mat wrestling, all four men tagging in and out of the match to show their technical wrestling skills. Of course, Mr Textbook himself, Tate Monroe, got the better of any exchanges he was involved in, causing the crowd to begin a chant of "GINOUDAIO! GINOUDAIO!", which translates directly as "Great King of Technical Skill", and was a sure sign that the fans enjoy Monroe's technical wrestling prowess. The Afroed Hawaiian also impressed the fans, particularly with his excellent speed around the ring - one move that got a big ovation was when he literally ran up the ropes and then launched from the ring, landing on Kujawa, who as lying on the arena floor, with a big elbow! The move hurt Sunday as well, showing that he's not afraid to take risks, even if it costs him as much as as his opponent. While Uncle Dai was out seeing if Sunday was okay, Tamura made his presence known, sliding into the ring and nailing Monroe with his rolling kouppo kick! Kaijin followed up with his shooting star legdrop, the Sick Cycle Carasel, and covered as Uncle Dai returned... but Monroe kicked out at 2 7/8! Tamura was angered by this, brutally attacking a ring attendant who was nearby, laying him out with a stiff kick. Uncle Dai saw this and climbed from the ring, yelling at Tamura to leave the ringside area. As this was happening, Kaijin grabbed a chair from ringside and returned to the ring, swinging at Monroe... but hitting Kujawa! Kaijin was shocked as Sunday slid back in and kicked him in the gut, then grabbed his head and ran up the turnbuckles as if going for a Sliced Bread II-type move, but transitioning in mid-air to come down with a Rocker Dropper! Tamura tried to break up the count, but he was held at bay by Monroe, as the ref counted 1-2-3! This was a big upset in the eyes of the fans, since the beaten team are two-thirds of the Trinity X champions, but a popular win nonetheless. Monroe got on the microphone and aimed some comments at Tamura, criticising his interference and saying that if Tamura and his friends make it past tomorrow night's title defence, he would gladly find two partners and mount a challenge. Match six - Main Event - Dream Fujin vs Pro Wrestling MEGA: Wataru Yasuda, HERO Ishikawa{x} & Wasai Thrillblade [14'38" HERO's Welcome] Griffin James, Usagi Yoshida & Crazy Bastard Cop{o} - This match, announced following Pro Wrestling MEGA's invasion last night, was supposed to have James and Yoshida teaming with Darkness Kitty! However, the heartless one no showed, answering the question about his allegiance to the Fujingun army. Crazy Bastard Cop took Kitty!'s place, wrestling his second match of the night and resuming his trios team with Yoshida and James. The crowd was super hot for this match, giving the Fujingun wrestlers loud support, but also cheering a lot for HERO Ishikawa. As was to be expected, the match erupted into a huge brawl almost from the opening bell, the six wrestlers battling out into the crowd - HERO and Yoshida trading blows, Yasuda and James likewise and Thrillblade and CBC. This brawl lasted for a good 10 minutes, and it looked like Uncle Dai was ready to throw the match out, but eventually some of the action returned to the ring, in the form of James and Ishikawa, two former RCW alumni. James and HERO battled hard, but eventually Griffin found himself up against all three of his opponents, and on the receiving end of an onslaught of offence, including a springboard fistdrop to the back of the head by HERO. James fought back though, thrilling the fans by unleashing DEM 'BOWS on all three MEGA wrestlers and almost getting the pin after hitting Thrillblade with a typically-stiff Yakuza kick, only for Yasuda to break it up. CBC came in, but fell victim to a running sitout powerbomb from Yasuda, but it only got 2 3/4 as Yoshida made the save, then hit Yasuda with a tombstone piledriver, but that also only got 2! HERO and Thrillblade doubleteamed the champ, hitting an assisted Ace Crusher for 2, James saving! James was sent from the ring, then HERO dropped Yoshida with a HEROhacker Bomb, for 2 3/4! HERO went up top, but James shoved him down to the mat, before hitting a tope con hilo onto Yasuda! CBC climbed in, hitting HERO with a lariat and going for another, but HERO ducked and hit a beautiful STO! He dragged CBC back up, and hit him with his inverted headlock lift into a Michinoku Driver, which he calls the HERO's Welcome, covering for the 3-count! Yasuda and Thrillblade celebrated with HERO in the ring, then they laid a black Pro Wrestling MEGA flag across the prone figure of CBC, posing over him for the photographers until James and Yoshida came back in, clearing the ring. The Pro Wrestling MEGA team continued to celebrate, holding up their flag triumphantly as they walked away. Overall comments: So, first blood goes to Pro Wrestling MEGA. After the main event, Billy Thomas was seen backstage, angrily yelling at some of the Dream Fujin wrestlers, including Apollo Kid III and Kyuki Shonjo. He was heard to say that Crazy Bastard Cop was willing to wrestle _twice_ in one night to fight for Dream Fujin's honour, but others stood by while Pro Wrestling MEGA came into "our house" and put one over on them. Thomas was furious, calling as many of the wrestlers together as possible and issuing a challenge for the "true-born" talent to step up and enlist in the Fujingun Army. © Dream Fujin, 2006.
