Higashi-Murayama Sports Center Sunday February 19 1200 fans Match one - Rookie tryout series #6: Northstar, Haratake & Steel Cougar{x} [8'34" Fisherman suplex] Racer X, Ultraman Zeta & Ice Dragon{o} - The second-to-last match of this series saw more of the same rookie sloppiness we've come to expect from these matches. No surprises that Ultraman Zeta got the biggest crowd reactions, while Ice Dragon, Northstar and Steel Cougar showed glimpses of promise. Racer X and Haratake - well, the sooner they're gone from Dream Fujin rings the better. Cougar, the former bear-masked Kurogama, picked up the win over Ice Dragon. Match two: Bombay Kaijin & Jeff Kujawa[Free]{x} [8'51" Sitout powerbomb] Norihiko Miura & Shiro Namiguchi{o} - While Miura put up a strong fight against two-thirds of the Trinity X champions, coming close to pulling off the win a few times, including after hitting Kaijin with his praying style piledriver, he was let down by his partner Namiguchi. The former Uchu Koujin Red was clearly not in the class of the other three men in the ring, and he fell victim to a high-angle sitout powerbomb from Kujawa. Match three - Panda Trial Series #5: Darkness Kitty! [12'47" DK Suplex] Super Orange Panda - With Panda's trial record sitting even at two wins and two losses, this was the match that would define the popular orange guy's immediate future. Kitty! had promised that defeat would make Panda revoke his fun-loving ways and come over to the "dark" side. Panda wasn't about to let that happen without putting up one helluva fight, and he did just that. Kitty! seemed surprised when Panda showed a lot of aggression right from the opening bell, taking the fight to his former teammate and overpowering him with hard-hitting moves. Kitty! eventually came back, using his old trick of playing dead, then kipping up into a side Russian legsweep. Kitty! then went on a long period of offence, hitting a variety of kneedrops and suplexes. However, he wasn't able to put Panda away, and the fans were right behind the orange guy, even chanting "PAN-DA" at one point. This seemed to anger Kitty!, and that anger led to him being over-zealous and missing a senton backsplash. Panda took advantage, hitting a series of lariats, then the Pandasault, but Kitty! kicked out at 2 3/4! Panda could smell blood, and he went for another big lariat, but Kitty! ducked it and hit the Cat Nap, following up with the DK Suplex (half tiger, half leg clutch suplex) for the 1-2-3. As Panda lay prone on the mat, having lost his trial series in the closest possible manner, Kitty! stood over him and laughed evilly! When Kitty! left the ring, Panda slowly rose to his feet, and received a loud ovation from the fans, showing that his efforts during the trial series were appreciated. Match four: Elvis Sunday[NEXT]{x} & Ty Walker[NEXT] [11'28" Sunset flip powerbomb] Hasselhoff SE & British Steel{o} - The touring gaijin tagteam from NEXT made relatively easy work of the wigged warriors. Sunday was really the star of the match, again hitting his "Walk the Plank" dropkick to the face after walking over British Steel. The coolest spot in the match came when Dream Fujin's resident pseudo-Baywatch star did his "slow motion beach run", accompanied by the Baywatch theme song (which Steel plays on a small stereo), lifeguard tube in hand. Sunday was slumped in the corner, and like most potential victims of this move, he easily evaded the slow-motion impact. But then he dropkicked Hasselhoff and lifted him up onto the top rope so he was lying facedown across the corner, before vaulting up... and surfing on Hasselhoff's back while doing the "hang loose" surfer hand signal! He wasn't done though, as he then sprang off of Hasselhoff's back, yelling "WIPEOUT" as he soared, coming down with a big plancha on British Steel! The fans loved it! Sunday got the win after being put up on the top rope by Hasselhoff, but then kicking him down. He stood, looking to go for his Sunday Shining shooting star press legdrop, but suddenly Steel vaulted to the top to take Hasselhoff's place. Sunday fought him though, driving a shoulder into his gut and then leaping up and over him, performing a sunset flip which powerbombed Steel into the mat. Sunday made the cover as Walker dragged Hasselhoff from the ring, getting the 3-count. Match five: Griffin James [16'40" Yakuza kick] Tate Monroe[HVW] - With all of the hype surrounding the Fujingun war against the Pro Wrestling MEGA invaders, this top class singles match arrived with little in the way of fanfare. However, once it was underway, the crowd was in good voice, cheering on two men who are very popular with Dream Fujin fans all over Japan. Monroe showed why he is considered one of the best technical wrestlers in the sport, as he concentrated his attacks on James' right arm, particularly the elbow, seeking to neutralise Griffin's deadly elbow strikes. It worked too - James resorted to Throwin' Dem 'Bows at one stage, but had to stop because of the pain, then at a key point late in the match, he fought back only to end up elbowing the ringpost, which put Monroe firmly back in charge. Without his deadliest weapon, James was forced to do a lot more technical wrestling. The fans enjoyed the change of pace, as both men put on wrestling clinic. Monroe almost pulled off the upset submission win on a couple of occasions, when he countered out of moves and ended up trapping James in elbow-focused submission holds. James just managed to hold on though, escaping to the ropes on several occasions, and hitting some big offensive moves of his own. The end came after James kicked out of the Textbook Finish, and Monroe in turn got his foot on the ropes after taking the Jamestown Massacre. Both men were groggy as they got back to their feet, and Monroe set up for a German suplex, but James landed on his feet, then ran into the ropes and hit a _hard_ Yakuza kick. Monroe kicked out at 2 3/4, but when James hit an equally hard Yakuza kick a moment later, it was 1-2-3 this time. As the fans gave both men a big ovation, James recovered, then helped Monroe to his feet, offering a handshake of respect, which Monroe accepted, before both men raised their arms to the crowd. James called for a microphone and said that he had gained a great deal of respect for Monroe tonight. Monroe then got on the mic and said he knew that Griffin had some important decisions to make. Monroe said he himself was a newcomer to Dream Fujin and therefore not considered part of Fujingun, so he couldn't play a part in the war against Pro Wrestling MEGA. But if James wanted help in avenging his friend Crazy Bastard Cop's injury at the hands of Tamura's gang, then Monroe was happy to offer it. James answered that he hadn't made up his mind as to where he would be focusing his energies, but he would consider Monroe's offer. Match six - Main Event - Dream Fujin vs Pro Wrestling MEGA: Wataru Yasuda, HERO Ishikawa and Wasai Thrillblade [16'34" No contest] Usagi Yoshida, Apollo Kid III & Kyuki Shonjo - The Pro Wrestling MEGA came out first, but this time it wasn't just Yasuda, Ishikawa and Thrillblade like it had been on previous nights. This time former Dream Fujin wrestlers and current MEGA stars Takahiro Uei and Hideki Shimoda were with them. The Fujingun soldiers emerged next, continuing the trend set last night by donning army fatigues and camouflage face paint - Yoshida again in pink and Shonjo in white. Joining them tonight was Apollo Kid III, whose white mask was now adorned with grey camouflage markings! With Uei and Shimoda at ringside, this was never going to be a fair fight. The match started orderly enough, but as it wore on, the two MEGA wrestlers outside the ring started to get involved more and more. It finally reached boiling point when Uei snuck into the ring without Uncle Dai noticing, and hit Yoshida with a big lariat. A big brawl erupted in and outside of the ring, with the referee quickly losing control. It got to the point where Yoshida was overwhelmed and trapped in a camel clutch by Yasuda, while HERO, Thrillblade, Uei and Shimoda took turns hitting him in the face with kicks, dropkicks and other blows. The numbers were evened up as Griffin James and Norihiko Miura came out and stood at ringside, cheering on their Fujingun teammates. Order was restored to a certain extent, but when Shimoda hit Apollo Kid III with a cheapshot as he ran the ropes, things broke down in a big way. James and Miura went after Uei and Shimoda, as another big brawl broke out, this time featuring five men on either side. Uncle Dai had no way of keeping control, so he threw out the match. But just because the match was over didn't mean that the battle was done. The brawl continued until all 10 men were in the ring, and a few moments later, the Fujingun wrestlers cleared out their MEGA counterparts, drawing a big cheer from the crowd. Fujingun stood defiant in the ring as Pro Wrestling MEGA regrouped on the arena floor. Overall comments: There was no clear victor in tonight's battle between Fujingun and MEGA, although Fujingun was left standing tall in the ring. Apollo Kid III is the latest trueborn to commit to the Fujingun cause, but we're still in the dark about Griffin James' intentions. His heart is with Fujingun, but he also owes Tamura, Kujawa and Kaijin a big helping of vengeance. With only one show to go before the Super Energy Battle TV taping in a week's time, tomorrow night at Yoyogi National Stadium Gymnasium #2, time is running out for James to make up his mind. © Dream Fujin, 2006.
