Dream Fujin/Internacional Lucha Libre
Saturday May 20
Arena Mexico, Mexico City

The "Hola Fujin Amigos" tour came to a close as Dream Fujin and Internacional Lucha Libre wrestlers combined for the second night in a row at the home of Lucha Libre, Arena Mexico.

Dream Fujin owner Billy Thomas and ILL president Alfonso Reyes came to the ring with a bevy of beautiful ring girls. Thomas got on the microphone (speaking in English, which was then translated for the crowd) and thanked ILL and all lucha libre fans for their hospitality over the past few weeks. He then thanked Reyes, the two men shaking hands before leaving the ring.

--------------------------------------------------

Match One
Tecnicos: Ultraman Zeta, Corazon Moreno© & Hasselhoff SE
vs
Rudos: HERO Ishikawa, Crotalo Negro© & HiLite Kid

The show got off to a quick start, as three Dream Fujin wrestlers and three ILL competitors combined for a sprint trios match. The tecnico team was comprised of Dream Fujin's answer to the Ultraman superhero (Zeta), the newest incarnation of a gimmick that was once used exclusively in River City Wrestling (Moreno) and the popular David Hasselhoff-masked, red swimming-trunked guy whose last initials stand for Sexy Enormous. The rudo team was led by the Black Rattlesnake (Crotalo Negro), and comprised of the international superstar Ishikawa and unmasked gringo HiLite Kid. An added link within the match is the fact that HiLite Kid once wrestled as El Fuego Mascara in the US, and his tagteam partner was Moreno. The reason HiLite Kid now wrestles unmasked? Because he lost it in a mask vs mask against his former teammate.

Primera Caida:
The match got underway with a big all-in brawl, which saw the rudos handing Moreno a 3-on-1 beatdown, keeping his teammates at bay the whole time. Negro and HiLite hit a double hiptoss on Moreno, which HERO followed up with a springboard fistdrop. Hasselhoff came in to help his teammate, but then it became his turn to feel the combined wrath of his opponents. An awesome spot saw Negro monkey flip his own teammate, HiLite, who somersaulted into a corner lariat on Hasselhoff, before dropping to his hands and knees so that HERO could springboard off his back and hit a big dropkick in the corner. Typical lucha submissions followed as Zeta came back in and found himself trapped in an abdominal stretch at the hands of Negro, while HERO and HiLite applied a camel clutch/armbar combination on Hasselhoff.

Segunda Caida:
Between falls, HERO laid into Hasslehoff with a series of vicious kicks, which drew the ire of Moreno. He stormed back into the ring, laying into HERO with stiff chops. As the whistle blew to signal the second fall, the rudos again ganged up on Moreno. But the tecnico captain made a quick comeback, ducking a lariat from HERO and then double-dropkicking HiLite and Negro. As Zeta and Hasselhoff returned to the fray, Moreno hiptossed HERO from the ring, and launched onto him with a crowd-pleasing pescado! The other two tecnicos whipped HiLite and Negro into each other, then hit stereo big boots, before locking them in a double submission hold, Negro on his stomach and HiLite on top of him, facing upwards, then a crabhold applied to Negro and HiLite's arms pulled backwards into an improvised bow and arrow hold, both rudos submitting.

Tercera Caida:
The last and deciding fall saw all six men back into the battle, which made the action fast, furious and hard to describe. Negro and HiLite made Zeta submit to another double submission hold, this time an Indian deathlock/bow and arrow combination, and then HiLite went for a powerbomb on Hasselhoff. Negro was confident about the outcome, mounting the turnbuckles to celebrate, but what he didn't see was Hasselhoff flip out of the powerbomb and sunset flip HiLite to the mat, getting the suprise 3-count! Negro still didn't know what had happened, thinking that he was hearing the three count of HiLite pinning Hasselhoff, so when he turned around and saw Hasslehoff charging at him, he was very surprised! Hasselhoff dropkicked him from the ring, then hit an awkward tope, almost landing on his head. HiLite was dragged from the ring by Zeta, as HERO Ishikawa and Corazon Moreno returned to the ring.
Moreno and HERO battled back and forth, Moreno very nearly finishing the match with a huracanrana, but HERO survived, then moved out of the way of a moonsault, hitting the HERO's Welcome (inverted headlock lift into Michinoku Driver II), followed by a top rope fistdrop for the 1-2-3.

Winners: Rudos (2-1)

Match Two (Una Caida)
Tecnicos: British Steel & Maiden Japan
vs
Rudos: Trece ante Jason & Pesadilla ante Freddy

For some unknown reason, this match was one fall. Two colourful teams for sure - Dream Fujin's resident mullet-wigged hard rockers up against ILL's horror movie villains, Jason from Friday the 13th and Freddy from Nightmare on Elm St.

Whereas the opening match was a high-energy sprint, this match was noticeably slower, but through no fault of the Metal Gods. To put it bluntly, Jason and Freddy stunk up the joint. It was brawl, brawl, brawl from the horror monsters. The Metal Gods showed that they're developing into probably the most entertaining tagteam in Dream Fujin, with their blend of comedy (lots of air guitaring) and awesome doubleteam spots. To their infamous air guitar dives (on this occasion a legdrop/elbowdrop combo from adjacent turnbuckles, and a double plancha), Steel and Maiden added a new finisher, which got the job done. Called the Body Surf, it saw British Steel go to the top turnbuckle and raise both hands with the metal hand signal. Maiden Japan then walked into the corner and turned to face into the middle of the ring (where Freddy was lying prone). He reached up and placed his hands under the armpits of the now-crouching Steel, before running across the ring with Steel in position like a reverse Splash Mountain/Razor's Edge, but stopping well short of Freddy and throwing his teammate forward... Steel flying down onto Freddy with a big splash! It got the 3-count, and the Metal Gods celebrated by air guitaring their way into the crowd!

Winners: Metal Gods
Time of Match: 7'29"

Match Three (Una Caida)
Ice Dragon vs Kyuki Shonjo

This grudge match between two relative rookies was set up on May 6, when Ice Dragon hit Kyuki Shonjo with the lucha libre move of death, a piledriver. That move put Shonjo on the shelf, and saw Ice Dragon turn rudo in one instant. Several matches followed in which Shonjo's regular teammate, Apollo Kid III, sought revenge against Dragon. Tonight, Shonjo returned to active duty, and sought his own measure of vengeance.

For the two combatants, victory in this match could be the start of something big. It could serve as a big stepping stone to the next level in Dream Fujin. However, sadly, neither competitor really took advantage of the opportunity. The match itself was rather lacklustre, with several patches of directionless wrestling, a number of clumsy and blown spots, and no real attempts by either wrestler to get the crowd involved. Much of this could probably be put down to the fact that Shonjo is at his best when he's playing the underdog role, against a more experienced opponent. Here he was the more experienced of the two wrestlers, which meant he had to take the leadership role. Ice Dragon is as green as freshly-mown grass, a fact that has undoubtedly been covered up when Dragon wrestles in multi-wrestler matches, but which was glaringly obvious in this mano-y-mano contest.

The result wasn't without controversy, as Ice Dragon pinned Shonjo with his feet on the ropes, something that was missed by main referee Felipe Tellez. Shonjo protested afterwards, but Tellez would hear nothing of it. Ice Dragon took the opportunity to rub the victory in, dancing and playing to the rudo fans at ringside. Shonjo was dejected, but it's unlikely that this rivalry is over.

Winner: Ice Dragon
Time Of Match: 13'09"

Semifinal
*TORNEO CIBERNETICO INCREDIBLES*
Shoji Tamura, Norihiko Miura, Tyrone Walker, Party Animal Delta & El Hijo del Super Macho
vs
Fuego Tigre jr, Elvis Sunday, Darkness Kitty!, Yoshino Nanami & Ryoji Mifune

This much-anticipated match was announced as Torneo Cibernetico Incredibles, the "Incredibles" indicating that rudos and tecnicos were mixed amongst the two teams. Torneo Cibernetico matches are like normal team matches, but with eliminations. The last two wrestlers, whether they're on opposite teams or the same team, wrestle a normal match to find a winner. In this case the winner would receive the next shot at the Independent Super Lightweight championship when Dream Fujin returns to Japan.

The wrestlers each received an individual entrance (complete with sexy ring girl), which took a good six or seven minutes to get through. The atmosphere in the arena was one of excitement, at seeing 10 of the best junior-heavyweights in the world going at it in one ring. The biggest pops were reserved for El Hijo del Super Macho, Fuego Tigre jr, Elvis Sunday, and, surprisingly, Yoshino Nanami. Adding intrigue was the friends on opposing sides (Tamura-Kitty!, Sunday-Walker), and the teaming of bitter rivals Sunday and Kitty!.

As is usual for Torneo Cibernetico matches, the early minutes involved wrestlers pairing off for short battles, then giving way for the next pairing. It's also worth noting that only one wrestler at a time can stand on the apron, the others standing at ringside.

Tigre jr and Party Animal Delta started things off, before giving way to rivals Miura and Nanami. They took their battle out to the floor, so they were replaced in the ring by Tamura and Sunday, who were followed by Walker and Mifune, and finally EHdSM and Sunday.

Now that everyone had had a turn in the ring, it was Tyrone Walker (one third of the Trinity X champion team) who came in to face off with arguably the most popular luchador in all of Mexico, Fuego Tigre jr. Walker hit a clothesline, but a whip was reversed and Tigre jr hit an armdrag, then a leg lariat for 2. Tigre jr charged right into a spinebuster, which Walker followed with a legdrop. One two no! Corner whip reversed by Tigre jr, who charged into... nothing but turnbuckles! Walker pushed him up to the top and then hit a neckbreaker out of the corner, followed by a moonsault. One two three! The crowd was in shock, as Black Jesus picked up the pinfall and Fuego Tigre jr was the first man eliminated.

In came Elvis Sunday, and the fans cheered in anticipation of seeing Sunday and Walker (teammates and joint trios champions) face off. But this was spoiled as Shoji Tamura blind tagged himself in, coming in to face Sunday.
Tamura with a spinning heel kick. Chop, chop, chop. Sunday backed into a corner, and Tamura charged with a leg lariat. Sunday ducked, sending Tamura over the top turnbuckle, but he landed on his feet on the apron. Tamura springboarded in... but was dropkicked out of the air! One two, no! Tamura reversed a whip and hit a kick to the gut, then a DDT. One two NO. Sunday ducked a thrust kick and hit a chop, then another, and a Tornado heart punch! Tamura looked for escape, but headed to the wrong corner, where Darkness Kitty! was waiting. Kitty! and Tamura are teammates and allies, but maybe not anymore, because Kitty! cheapshotted Tamura, sending him staggering back into the middle of the ring!
Backdrop from Sunday, who then went for La Quebrada, but hit nothing but mat! Tamura regrouped and laid into Sunday with kicks, before glaring at Kitty! with evil intent, then hitting a powerslam. One two NO!
Tamura signalled for the rolling kouppo kick, then ran the ropes, but Sunday moved out of the way, so Tamura pulled out of the move, rebounding again instead. He ran right into a boot to the gut, then Sunday grabbed his head and ran up the turnbuckles like for a Shiranui/Sliced Bread #2, but transitioned into a guillotine facedriver, hitting the move he calls the Hawaiian Hangover. One two THREE!

The Flyin' Hawaiian couldn't hide his joy at pinning one of the top men in Dream Fujin, and the tecnico fans rejoiced as well. In fact, Sunday was so happy that when he walked over to his corner and blindly tagged in a partner, he didn't realise it was Darkness Kitty!, his hated rival. He realised as Kitty! climbed through the ropes, the two staring down.

Let's have a count up. On one side we've now got Sunday, Kitty!, Nanami and Mifune, and on the other side, Miura, Walker, PAD and EHdSM. Four on four!

In to face Kitty! was Party Animal Delta, tonight wearing a Tiger mask and outfit, so it was Cat versus Cat! For the first time in the match some comedy antics entered the flow, as Kitty! and PAD began to hiss at each other and circle, then PAD sent the crowd into hysterics by cocking his leg and pretending to urinate on Kitty! The serious tone took back over, as Kitty! angrily attacked. Whip by Kitty! was reversed, but he slid underneath PAD, only to get taken down with a lariat. Off the ropes came PAD, who hit an elbowdrop. One two NO! PAD up top, but Kitty! caught him up there and brought him back down with a superplex, following up with the Cat Nap (inverted headlock into elbowdrop across the chest). One two THREE!

In next were El Hijo del Super Macho (to a HUGE cheer) and Tatsumi Nanami, the young rookie who has made major progress on this tour. They upped the tempo with some speedy offence, lots of flips and ending with Nanami countering a huracanrana with a sitout powerbomb. One two NO! Nanami with a step up enzuigiri, but EHdSM countered a top rope crossbody by dropkicking Nanami out of the air, then La Majistral Cradle! One two NO! EHdSM applied a crazy lucha submission hold, but Nanami wouldn't give up, so he went for a springboard move, only to fall right into a gutbuster across Nanami's knee! EHdSM up, clutching his gut, and taken down hard by a running shotei palmthrust!
Nanami put EHdSM up top and signalled for the Tsunami Bomb (flipping top rope powerbomb), but EHdSM fell down onto the top rope, crotching himself and ruining the set up for the move. As Felipe Tellez checked on EHdSM, Norihiko Miura suddenly jumped up onto the apron next to his hated rival, Nanami, and nailed him with a low blow! FAULTO! Nanami fell to the mat as the arena filled with jeers and whistles, and Miura stepped back down to the floor. EHdSM had recovered, and hadn't seen what just went on, so he hit a standing moonsault. One two THREE! More loud, loud jeers and whistles.

The crowd's attention turned to ringside, where Miura suddenly found himself face to face with Yoshino's father Tatsumi, who was watching from the front row. The elder Nanami was yelling at Miura, calling him a coward, and gesturing at him angrily. Miura looked to walk away, but then turned and bitchslapped Tatsumi! Security suddenly rushed over to hold the elder Nanami back, Tatsumi in a rage, trying to get free and get his hands on Miura. Miura just smirked, seeing that Nanami senior was being held back. But what he didn't see was young Yoshino back to his feet in the ring, then slingshotting himself out... plancha onto Miura! Nanami the younger then began to rain down punches on Miura, until security broke them apart as well. The two Nanamis were then led away, while Miura was informed... that he had been counted out of the match!

The crowd cheered loudly, as Miura threw a fit! He vented and raged, but was led off by security before he could cause any more trouble. Now it was down to EHdSM and Walker on one side, and Mifune, Kitty! and Sunday on the other.

Back in the ring, Ryoji Mifune came in to face El Hijo del Super Macho. The former deathmatch wrestler and current shootfight exponent took EHdSM down with a double leg move, then went for punches from the mount, Tellez warning him against the open fists. Mifune hit a butterfly suplex. One two NO! Mifune missed on a corner charge, and EHdSM took him down with a neckbreaker. He started to lock on a Mexican surfboard, but Mifune blocked his arms being locked, so EHdSM kept his legs locked around Mifune's and rolled forward, ending up on his back with Mifune in the air, in an elevated surfboard! EHdSM locked on a chinlock, and Mifune had nowhere to go, so had to tap!

Now we were down to our final four, two on each side. EHdSM and Walker high fived, while Sunday and Kitty! continued to stay away from each other.

Walker and Sunday faced off for real this time, the fans cheering in anticipation. A quick shake of the hands, then Sunday reversed a whip and sent Walker into the air and down to the mat with a flapjack. Sunday went for a low dropkick, but Walker evaded it, hitting a lariat. Only a one count! Walker off the ropes and hit a floatover DDT! One two NO! Walker off the ropes again, but Sunday out of nowhere with a powerslam!
Sunday up to the top, then off with the big elbow... but noone was home! Walker with a dropkick to the knee, and then he slapped on the single leg crabhold! Sunday was in big trouble, in the middle of the ring. Sunday walked forward on his forearms, towards his corner, and reached out for the tag... but Kitty! walked away! Jeers and whistles! Felipe Tellez came over to argue with Kitty!, who still refused to tag. Sunday refused to give up, even when Walker dragged him back towards the middle of the ring. Teeth clenched in utter determination, Sunday began to crawl back across the ring, then lunged for the ropes... making it! But then Kitty! kicked his hand off the ropes, sending the crowd into loud boos, jeers and whistles!

Seeing this, Walker released the hold and walked over to Kitty!, who was now back on the apron. Walker began to question Kitty!'s tactics, and within seconds they were trading blows! Felipe Tellez put his body on the line, pushing the two men apart and admonishing Tyrone Walker. While this was happening, Elvis Sunday returned to his feet and walked over to Kitty!, nailing him square in the face with a right hand! Then he grabbed a handful of mask and yanked Kitty! over the top rope, flipping him into the ring. The fans cheered as Sunday climbed out onto the apron, and Walker grinned, giving the thumbs up to his friend and teammate, before taking over on Kitty!

Walker nailed Kitty! with a kneelift, then showed off the lucha skills he's picked up on the tour, performing a perfect La Majistral Cradle. One two NO! Walker up to the middle turnbuckle - missile dropkick! He pushed Kitty! into the corner and charged in, but Kitty! droptoeholded him onto the turnbuckle. With Walker slumped on his hands and knees and completely defenceless, Kitty! then turned around to face Tellez, arguing about Walker pulling on his mask (which of course never happened), while sneakily kicking backwards and upwards, catching Walker square in the crotch! FAULTO! The fans jeered and whistled like crazy, but Tellez was still none the wiser, and could only count as Kitty! rolled Walker up with a cradle. One two three.

Sunday re-entered the fray, clearly still angry at Kitty!. He grabbed Kitty! by the throat, Kitty! doing the same, mostly in defence. They struggled against the ropes, and EHdSM saw his opening, charging across the ring and nailing a dropkick to both of them. The force knocked Sunday clear out of the ring, but Kitty! fell flat onto the mat, the fans cheering like crazy for their hometown favourite.

EHdSM dragged Kitty! up and sent him into the ropes. Backdrop, followed by a standing moonsault. One two NO! EHdSM out to the apron, springboarded in... boot up by Kitty! Kitty! with a lungblower! One two NO! So close! Chops from both men, then a rake to the eyes by Kitty! Then he started to pull on EHdSM's mask, ripping it to the jeers of the crowd! Ripping a big hole over one eye! EHdSM tried to reposition his ripped mask, and while he was distracted, Kitty! hooked him from behind... Tiger suplex! One two NO! EHdSM whipped into the ropes, flipped over a backdrop attempt, dropkick! Huracanrana... NO! Powerbomb into the turnbuckles! Kitty! then dragged EHdSM up and crossed his arms underneath... powerbomb! DARKNESS BOMBER! One two THREE!

The fans weren't happy about this turn of events, but their disappointment was soon replaced by excitement as Sunday stepped through the ropes, and our final part of this match began! The two hated rivals squaring off for the right to challenge for the Independent Super Lightweight title!

And we're off and brawling! Sunday got the upperhand, but Kitty! cut it short with a rake of the eyes, then went for a suplex. Sunday flipped out of it, hitting a reverse DDT! One two NO! Sunday out to the apron, then back in with a springboard bodypress! One two NO! Sunday was up quickly and running the ropes, but Kitty! simply and effectively took him down, grabbing a handful of afro the way past. Kitty! with a release German suplex, then he followed up with a kneedrop. One two NO!

Kitty! then hit the Oirnas Lancer (twisting guillotine facedriver). One two NO! SO CLOSE! He looked to finish off Sunday with the Darkness Bomber, but Sunday backdropped out of it! Sunday off the ropes, and hit a handspring into a huracanrana! One two NO! Sunday on fire now, running up the turnbuckles and launching into... OH! Dropkicked out of the air! Kitty! took some time to catch his breath, then signalled for the Heartless Attack (sitout powerbomb). He swung Sunday into the air, but the Flyin' Hawaiian' with a sitout facedriver! Both men got up a little slowly, Kitty! swinging a blind punch, which missed. Sunday then nailed his tornado heart punch... but Kitty! laughed it off! He has no heart!

Kitty! raked the eyes, regaining the advantage. Then he lifted Sunday up into a torture rack, but in a flash Sunday grapevined his arms, then used his weight to send Kitty! down into a forward roll, ending up with Kitty!'s shoulders down on the mat. Tellez counted... one two THREE!

The arena exploded with joy! Elvis Sunday had won, and would get the next shot at the big title! Sunday was ecstatic, mounting the turnbuckles and celebrating with the fans, as Kitty! looked shocked, then began to argue with Felipe Tellez. When he got no help from the referee, Kitty! stormed over to attack Sunday, but the Flyin' Hawaiian was expecting it, and hiptossed him from the ring! The fans went back to cheering, as Sunday watching Kitty! limp up the aisle, hurt and dejected, but turning around to point at Sunday as if to say "this isn't over".

Winner: Elvis Sunday
Time Of Match: 36'48"

Final
*INDEPENDENT SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP* (Una Caida)
Griffin James © vs Tate Monroe

After months of taking verbal potshots at each other, the moment finally arrived for the two top men in Dream Fujin.

“Gel” by Collective Soul hit first, and out came Tate Monroe, along with his second and teammate, Elvis Sunday, who was still a little sweaty and definitely looked tired from his epic match a little earlier. Monroe, his black hair gelled back and his piercing green eyes locked on the ring, wore his usual simple half-and-half pattern (Curt Henning-like), white boots and wrist tape, black knee and elbow pads. The fans gave a good tecnico ovation for Monroe, who got in the ring and started to stretch against the ropes.

Then those famous words - "MY COCK IS BIGGER THAN YOURS! MY COCK CAN WALK RIGHT THROUGH THE DOOR!" - blasted over the PA, the portion of System of a Down's "Cigaro" giving way to "Tenjho Tenge" by Fuminori Iwasaki, an inspiring instrumental piece, complete with horns and everything. The fans roared in anticipation as the champ strolled down the elevated rampway, the lovely Miss Cherry by his side. While Cherry was smiling proudly, James glared at the ring, and Monroe, a picture of stoic determination, dressed in black wrestling shorts, black boots, and black elbowpads.

After the introductions, Billy Thomas climbed into the ring for the traditional championship photograph pose - Thomas holding the belt in the middle, while James and Monroe stood either side of him, their seconds next to them. Then Felipe Tellez ushered everyone but the two combatants from the ring, and signalled for the opening whistle!

The start was overly cautious, the two wrestlers circling, looking to lock up, but then moving apart and circling some more, neither man wanting to make the first mistake. Monroe shot for a leg, but James moved out of the way, and back to circling they went. Finally, about a minute into the match, they locked up with a collar and elbow, James using his superior strength to back Monroe into the ropes. Tellez called for the break, which James did, but then elbowed Monroe right in the jaw! Monroe fired back a chop! Elbow! Chop! Elbow! Chop! Elbow-elbow-elbow stunned Monroe. Irish whip was reversed by Monroe. Boot to the gut and he hooked on a front chancery, looking to grab a leg... but James punched his way out of the Textbook Finish set up, then fired off a Yakuza kick. Monroe ducked it!

Monroe with a low dropkick, but James moved out of the way, then fired off a dropkick of his own, the force of it sending Monroe through the ropes to the floor! James didn't hesitate in following up, grabbing the top rope and slingshotting himself out onto Monroe. PESCADO! Picking himself up from at the feet of the front row fans (no ring railing here folks), James paused to allow Monroe to stagger back to his feet, then rolled the challenger back into the ring. Then James climbed to the top rope from the outside, waiting as Monroe rose to his feet... Missile dropkick blasted Monroe back to the mat! Still no cover though. Irish whip into the ropes... Yakuza kick! Now the cover - one two NO!

Corner-to-corner whip reversed by Mornoe, who charged in with a running dropkick! Front chancery hooked, but James held onto the corner to stop from being taken over. Monroe released the hold, and was blasted with a stiff elbow to the jaw, sending him tumbling back to the mat. James dragged Monroe up and peppered his head with more elbowshots. Pushing the challenger back into a corner, he wound up and charged in with a roaring elbow! But Monroe ducked out of the way, then jammed his shoulder into James' midsection... Northern lights suplex! Bridged - one two NO! Both men back to their feet, and Monroe with a big overhead belly to belly suplex! James went rolling out of the ring.

Monroe went out after him, clinching on a front chancery and trying to suplex James onto the bare arena floor. But James countered, backdropping Monroe over! Monroe staggered back to his feet, and James charged... Yakuza! NO! Monroe moved and James ended up kicking the steel ringpost! James went down in a heap, howling in pain as he clutched his right knee.

Monroe rolled back into the ring to break Tellez's count, then straight back out. He rolled James back into the ring, but didn't let him get all the way under the ropes, grabbing the right leg to stop him midway. Then Monroe lifted the leg, before driving it down, the kneecap impacting with the edge of the ring apron. Ouch! More yowls of agony from James, as Monroe rolled back into the ring.

Ever the consumate technician, Monroe had spotted his opening, and went to work on James' right leg. He started with a simple, yet effective, move, raising the leg and driving the kneecap down into the mat, before applying a single leg crabhold. James was in a lot of pain, but made the ropes after struggling for a good half a minute or so. Monroe wasn't about to stop his attack on the knee, clipping it from behind, then applying a figure four leglock! James was in big, big trouble, and the fans sensed it! He was out of reach of the ropes, but with teeth gritted in pure determination, he actually dragged Monroe with him and lunged, grabbing the bottom rope and causing the hold to be broken.

James could barely stand on his right leg, but he struggled up to his feet, only for Monroe to grab the leg and take him down with a dragonscrew legwhip, holding onto the leg and transitioning straight into a kneebar! James scurried for the ropes in a panic, making them quickly. Using the ropes to pull himself up, James returned to his feet, and Monroe went for another dragonscrew legwhip, only James countered with an enzuigiri! Both men stood up, Monroe dazed, and soon to be even more after James clubbed him with a series of elbowshots. A roar of determination showed James' courage in the face of agony, the fans cheering in support of the champ.

James backed Monroe into a corner and peppered him with chops and elbows, then a corner charge lariat! Mornoe slumped to the mat, and James followed up with a senton back splash. One two NO! James dragged Monroe up, hooking on a front chancery. But Monroe blocked the suplex lift, then reversed it, hoisting James up. But the champ flipped through it, landing on his feet... OH! But the landing was too much for the knee, and James crumpled to the mat!

Monroe regained the advantage with a low dropkick to the knee, then went for a figure four leglock... but was rolled up by James! One two NO! So damn close! Monroe was furious at being caught offguard, so drove his own knee down into the injured joint of James a few times, drawing a few boos! He then hung James in the tree of woe, before hitting a running dropkick to the injured leg! Brutal! Then he covered... one two NO!

A loud "GRIFFIN" chant, assisted by blasts of an airhorn, went up from the tecnico fans as they urged James to continue the fight. Somehow he battled up to his feet, and swung a desperate elbow, but Monroe ducked it, then took the champ down with another dragonscrew legwhip. Holding the leg, Mornoe climbed to the second rope, then jumped off, dropping an elbow and his bodyweight down onto the side of the knee! Dragging James into the middle of the ring, Monroe closed in for the kill, applying a crucifix kneebar!

James was in complete agony, screaming in pain, as Miss Cherry looked on in concern. Monroe applied as much pressure as he could to the move, actually yelling at James "Give up damn you!", but James refused to comply. Reaching for the ropes, he found them out of reach, but slowly inched his way towards them. Slowly, slowly... and after about a minute of hellacious pain, he reached the ropes, eliciting a HUGE pop from the crowd, and more chanting for the champ!

Monroe began to show frustration, pushing Felipe Tellez in the chest and demanding that he watch closely in case James gave up. This pause in the action allowed James to pull himself up, using the ropes and putting no weight on the right leg. Monroe returned to him, nailing James with a few chops, then setting up for a Northern Lights suplex. But James broke free with a series of downward elbows into the middle of Monroe's back, then out of nowhere hit a flash Ego (Ace) Crusher! One two NO!

James pushed up to his feet, growling with pain and determination, and waited for Monroe to slowly stagger up in a daze... ROARING ELBOW! But no cover from James, who dragged Monroe up and applied a front chancery, hooking a leg... but he couldn't lift Monroe off the mat for the Jamestown Massacre! He tried again, but still couldn't find the strength in his legs to go through with the move. Releasing Monroe's leg, James was suddenly kicked in the knee, and then Monroe grabbed that leg, reversing their positions, and then driving him down into the mat with his twisting fisherman buster, the Textbook Finish!

Monroe looked confident, uncharacteristically forgetting to hook the leg as he made the cover. One two... NO! Foot on the ropes by James! HUGE TECNICO POP! Monroe couldn't believe it, his expression changing from shock to anger, as he began to question Tellez again. Dragging James up, Monroe was visibly furious, and began to punch away at him in frustration. A whip into the ropes was reversed, Monroe rebounding... into a Yakuza kick! Monroe went down hard, but so did James, clutching at the right leg after the impact!

Showing inhuman determination, James dragging himself up off the mat, fighting through the pain. Seeing Monroe slowly rising in a daze across the ring, James slapped his right elbow once, twice, and then charged/limped at him, the fans roaring in anticipation of the Fujingun Stinger, the move that won James the title in the first place. But in the blink of an eye Monroe went from being a dazed target to dropping and driving a dropkick low... connecting with James' legs and knocking them out from under him!

James hit the canvas hard, and Monroe regained control, rolling him over and applying an inverted figure four leglock. James was reduced to loud howls of pain, but he still refused to surrender! Fighting the hold, he began the familiar task of dragging himself and Monroe towards the ropes, and making them! Monroe was forced to release the hold, and James rolled out of the ring, looking for any kind of respite from the ongoing punishment to his knee.

Monroe wasn't about to give him that respite though, and he rolled out right after him. But as Monroe prepared to continue his punishment of the champ, Miss Cherry appeared by her man's side, pleading for Tate to stop. Felipe Tellez left the ring and began telling Cherry to go back around to the other side of the ring, before gently taking her by the arm to persuade her. But by doing this he turned his back on Monroe and James, which is when a major turning point took place. A turning point not only in this match, but in Tate Monroe's Dream Fujin career.

Frustrated and angry, Monroe reached over and yanked a large wooden clacker (the thing you hold by the handle and spin around to make a loud noise) out of the hands of a ringside fan, taking hold of it so that the handle is protruding. As James struggled up to his feet against the ring apron, Monroe struck... driving the handle end-first into the back of his knee! This brought deafening jeers and whistles from the crowd, and sent James tumbling to the floor, grabbing at his knee and screaming in agony like never before.

Throwing the clacker down onto the floor with an angry scowl (which drew a double thumbs down from the fan in question), Monroe yanked James up and rolled him back into the ring. Tellez, none the wiser, climbed back in himself, as Monroe reapplied the inverted figure four leglock, in the middle of the ring!

The crowd screamed and yelled in protest, urging James on. The champ, in more pain than ever before in the match, tried to fight through it, reaching towards the ropes and then fighting to crawl towards them, but he couldn't make any headway. With his entire upper body straining, he made a last ditch lunge for the ropes, but came up well short, slumping back to the mat. Tellez moved in, taking hold of the champ's hand... and found no response! He raised the arm once, and it fell! Twice, and it fell again. The third time... AND IT FELL!

The bell sounded, the fans jeering and whistling, but also looking on in disbelief. Monroe quickly climbed to his feet, grinning and clenching his fists in victory. The title belt was handed over, Monroe mounting a corner and raising it high, which sent the crowd's disapproval to a new level. Miss Cherry was right by her man's side, a look of complete concern on her face as she held his head in her lap, while Tellez and several ring attendants tended to the now-former champion.

As Monroe continued to celebrate, his teammate and friend Elvis Sunday came into the ring. To celebrate with Monroe? Nope - he yanked Monroe down off the corner, spinning him around and yelling "what the hell was that?" into his face. Monroe looked surprised at first, but then smirked and simply shrug his shoulders. Sunday continued a tirade, letting Monroe know that he wasn't impressed by what just went down, even going so far as to slide from the ring and pick up the discarded clacker, returning with it and pushing it into Monroe's chest, the accusation complete. Monroe continued to shrug it off, which Sunday countered with a look of disbelief, throwing his hands up into the air and dropping the clacker to the mat.

The fans were still booing, jeering and whistling as Monroe slid from the ring, the title belt slung over his shoulder, and then made his way back up the raised aisleway. In the ring, Sunday walked over to where James was getting tended to, checking on him briefly, before resting his arms on the top rope, watching Monroe stop at the top of the aisle. The new champion raised his title belt into the air, to deafening heel heat, as Sunday continued to just stare at him with a troubled expression on his face.

Overall comments:

- As Dream Fujin prepares to return to Japan, a new champion is in possession of the Independent Super Lightweight Championship, and under controversial circumstances. Tate Monroe has achieved his goal of becoming champion, but at a price. The fans in Japan won't be forgiving of his actions, and neither, it seems, is his fellow Trinity X champion, Elvis Sunday. Considering Sunday is the next in line for a shot at the title, there are plenty of questions yet to be answered.
